What age did you put your baby front facing in the carrier please? X
I did just over 3 months, her head and neck control were good by then and she was sick of my face 😂 got a friend who had her baby front facing from birth but don’t think that’s recommend.

About 5 months but facing you for naps. Also I think don’t put them forward facing for too long as they can get over stimulated and ratty quite quickly x

I didn't use ours front facing till she was 9 months old because she's a bit on the dinky side and she couldn't see over the fabric 😂

Check your instructions though. I have 2 carriers and they both have slightly different advice about how long to use them with baby facing forwards.

I don't think though that you have to turn them at all if you're happy with them facing you. Baby won't even know that the other way is an option until you do it. It's the same with pushchairs.

Would you turn her when she falls asleep? Mini muffin tends to nod off at some point but I’m sure if I tried to turn her she would wake up so not sure how to do it?

Oh no, I wouldn’t if she falls asleep like that but if we know she’s due a nap we keep her inward facing x

The nights are horrendous 😭 ever since we started weaning he’s so difficult to get to sleep and wakes most nights.

Last night he would not settle until 11.30pm… bedtime started at 9.. the usual bouncing and shush’ing didn’t do much, baby has learned how to blow raspberries recently and he was constantly doing that 🥲 He’d be asleep at points and the second you put him in the cot his eyes would just ping open.

I don’t think this kid likes sleep very much.. even his nap’s yesterday were impossible. When we finally got him to sleep for his second my mum turned up, she had to urgently speak to us and then it turned out not so urgent at all. Ffs.

Hi guys, I’m looking for some advice. My wee one is just over a month old and I have been pretty much EBF until now. She can be very unsettled/colicky and there’s been days she has been screaming for hours. I am wondering if expressing and feeding from a bottle would be better as I think I have weirdly shaped boobs 😂 and I’m wondering if that’s what is giving her a sore tummy. Any advice on the do and don’t do pumping? thank you xxx

Can you speak to your health visitor and get referred to the infant feeding team for support? We were told that breastfeeding actually improves colic (less chance for swallowing air from the breast compared to bottle etc) - if you think her latch might not be great you can get advice from specialists to improve the latch/try different positions. If your local area doesn't have a specialist feeding team there may be a local charity that provides breastfeeding support instead. I've been expressing since baby was born because he wouldn't latch and from my perspective if I could have fed him directly it would have made life so much easier because trying to express and keep baby occupied/settled at the same time is really tricky, plus it adds extra tasks to your day because expressing and then feeding is twice the work.

It could be soo much that’s causing this and breastfed babies don’t take in as much air as bottle fed so I don’t think it would make anything better if you did that? Have a look into purple crying and the witching hour. What you’re going through can be normal but if you’re worried about feeding definitely speak to a health professional/lactation consultant.
We use a thing called rhuger for my son which helps with a gsssy tummy, not sure if they sell that in the uk? It has healed with his fussing at night x

That reminds me - we tried infacol to help with colic but it didn't seem to work, but dentinox has been fantastic and we still use it now at 16 weeks - it helps break down bubbles in baby's tummy to make them more comfortable. It's not available as widely as infacol, we've only found it at Asda so far.

Thanks all. Was just wondering as she is so nosey and loves being held facing out the ways to see everything. She’s fine in the pram for a little while whilst she sleeps but then once she’s awake she kicks off. Was going to put her outwards facing when walking dogs at nighttime as she is so cranky in the pram and then just when we are feeding ducks etc with the toddler. She is 15 weeks on Thursday x

We have this, do you note down when his feeds are? I find tracking it much less stressful than not knowing.
When was his last feed & how much did he have? Then when did you try again?
Could you use nelsons teething granules / do you use any teething pain relief? My son does this a lot when his teeth are sore but he’s very hungry
- also sorry for 21 questions just want to know so I can try & offer some advice x

I do note his feeds... he had 30ml 2 hours ago then started playing with teat... offered again and got worked up sp stopped. Previously he would take 120-180ml bottles happily. Wondering if this is teething & constipation putting him off then iv tried to get him to have what he previusly would now hes associating it with negative.
Iv been using granules as hes showing signs of teething & white showing through gums.
Gonna wait abit then try again.

And to say i massively appriciate the help...like massively

Mini muffin does similar and I think it’s teething. Before did you say he would take his nighttime feed best? She did the exact same yesterday, took 50-100 mls per feed which is so unlike her, but her last two feeds at 5ish and 6:45 she had 150ml+. She also plays with the teat and chews on it. Have you tried calpol 30 mins before a feed? I’ve chilled her milk which seems to help as think it soothes the gums.

Sorry to jump on this, but thought id let you know what worked for me with this. One thing I do with my little one when she's in this mood is I take the bottle away, let her have her moment, settle back down & then try again. It may take an hour to take a bottle, but she takes the majority of it, and it leaves us both less stressed. I've also had to get rid of any external stimuli (no phone, TV, etc), it was distracting her & stopping her feeding.
Teething granules have been a lifesaver in my house (I rub them on her gums instead of using the teaspoon method).
One other thing I was told by my GP when my little one was unwell & not taking feeds was that as long as they're having 50% of their usual over the day & still weeing then try not to worry (easier said than done). But if its causing concern I'd consider speaking to the HV or GP. If you have a weighing clinic could you go to that. Get him weighed & speak to the HV there?
