Personally I don’t mind gifts being spread out, as otherwise it’s a dump on Christmas Day and this spreads the fun, but only if it’s for a genuine reason. Not just withholding them because you are an absolute bleep.

I got my birthday card and present 10 days after my birthday because I "chose not to spend it with them"
9yo had to wait 4 days for his too because they wanted to see him open it but we wouldn't go round there
My Mil gave my baby Christmas gifts on the 10th of December (just because she wanted to see her face).
I wasn’t happy about that as I don’t want her to expect gifts throughout December plus how is it fair that she bloody gets to see Ems face when my parents won’t see her opening presents!
I don’t think she could accept that she won’t see her on Christmas Day because she has been very privileged to have spent every one of my niece’s Christmas with her as my SIL always had her stay at her home.
Never going to happen here though as I like my MIL as much as a trip to the gynaecologist
