HMRC will take a chunk of that and her agent prob 15% so less than half of 3k, still; pretty hefty wage for a morning of showing your backside to the nation.
As a Limited Company they will have to pay income and corporation tax. This is where we see the true 'genius' of M's accounting.
If you look at their full accounts for 2016 filed on 28th Nov 2016 (micro accounts filed since then), this is where we see M's creativity with expenses at work. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06394187/filing-history

In 2016 their turnover or total business income was £490,267 down from £795,577 the previous year.

So, despite a massive drop in income in real terms, N&M (probably solely N) earned almost half a million pounds in 2016!
Whilst the £3K per episode of LW figure bandied around on here doesn't sit well with me, N's certainly been earning a fortune. Life is not fair when it comes to money. But then we see the champagne socialists getting richer, because M deducted so many 'administrative expenses' from this that they only paid tax on £17,145.

This is madness, they paid £3,462 tax to HMRC on an income of £490,267 in 2016.
This is 0.7% tax! I'd call this a sliver, rather than a chunk.

We run our own limited company. We learn less than N&M but pay significantly more tax than this. This is because we deduct our legitimate business expenses before paying tax and then pay for our living expenses.

I've seen how M&N live on YT, bleeping spendthrifts. They spend money like water before paying tax.

Food, storage containers, plants, other garden tit (minus the stolen gravel for the Ibiza path), luxury food, cinema memberships, take aways, regular theatre tickets, coffee machine and pods, home schooling costs, food, petrol, London Congestion Charge, magazine subscriptions, designer Tshirts for M, gallery memberships, meals out, the latest toys for M's cave, kitchen gadgets, M's new laptop (Does N own one of her own?), holidays, cocktails at Soho House for N and she probably treats Lee and Lisa (her friends staff), wifi (although they could legitimately ask for a refund - those pesky gremlins are forever messing the poor submissives around :sneaky:), digital packages (Netflix, AppleTV, Disney TV etc), weekends in central London hotels a few miles from their own bed, M's new car / N's taxi, mobile phone contracts with unlimited data, exotic ingredients.

Then there's Vlogmas; I Can't Even Go There. The waste and greed they exhibited last year started the ball rolling that lead me to tattle.

You see, Mr 'purse strings' M has quite the lifestyle despite earning jack tit. It's a shame he can't appreciate it because of this This may even have been all about the kitchen extension, which was paid for from N's 2015 appearance on Big Brother. This would be doubly immoral, as we all know that adding space and therefore value to your home means you're quids in on resale value (especially in London). Either that or they are paying Michelle a 6 figure salary.

I’m not in the UK, so I don’t know what “total business income” is, but if it’s everything their production company billed, I can easily see how their legit taxable income could result in a tax bill like the one you cite. I had a production company for about a decade, the overhead: expenses, salaries, equipment rentals, insurance, talent fees, location rentals, per diems, etc., etc. is brutal. I ended up losing money, although my receivables were often hefty, and I was not alone.

ETA: TV isn’t produced like YouTube. Way more people to pay. Edit suites to rent. Multiperson crews to hire at a daily rate. And if you shoot on location, you house and feed them. Very, very expensive business.

I complete agree that TV isn't produced like YT. (I'd also argue that the SwadderEley family YT channel is very poorly produced compared to anything else out there.) If you look at their accounts for the previous year, they reflect the business model (inc the overheads) you describe. Except M hasn't produced anything on TV since this Star Wars documentary was released in 2015 (even The Massuse was 2014), which means production costs were incurred far in advance of this.

It appears M's paid for a voice over (not Ms Sawalha off the telly ) and filmed a few Star Wars fanatics in their own homes in suburbia with what looks like a seriously skeleton crew of interns. I have just subjected myself to watching a lone camera man stand the top of the stairs for example filming a terribly-framed shot of a middle-aged man climbing the stairs to his attic toy cave, for example. Sound familiar? To be honest, it's my own fault, I could have exercised personal choice and not dug this travesty up to have a 5 min surf-through. It was almost worth it to see the size of his Jabba the Hutt. ;)

M's biggest costs would have been travelling to Florida (another 'family holiday' reminiscent of N's family summers?) and paying to licence clips from the Star Wars film that had just been released. Whilst I enjoy this detective work, I couldn't sit through too much of that so am not sure if he included clips from the original film.

I'm sorry you lost money in the business NotJustMeThen but I hope you also experienced some of the creative joys that led you into the industry in the first place.

Talking of Xand the man, he's done it again. He really is creepy! Think he may be Nadia's stalker, and Ashley is Mark's.
She will HATE that! 😆

She will HATE that 😆
And Mark will secretly LOVE it 👿

He even spells 'Housewives' incorrectly - that truly is a Nadia impression!

Have a look at these articles. One from the Sun and one from the Daily Mail. If Stacey Solomon earns £3,000 then so do the other Loose Women.
The second article from the Daily Mail says Janet Street Porter argued that all the women on the show should be paid the same two years ago.
The third shows Stacey confirming on the show that they all got a pay rise thanks to Janet Street Porter.

The Sun article about Stacey Solomon article is from 31 Mar 2020 and
Janet Street Porter is from 4 April 2018 Daily Mail

I remember at the time that JSP said because of her TV experience she knew they were not being paid enough and she would be the spokesperson and said it is not just a couple of hours work each day. When Carol McGiffen left the first time she said they were earning 700 an episode and that was a few years ago so a thousand is not something they would have agreed to. Just look how much Zoe Ball earns for a couple of hours radio 5 days a week, although she asked for a pay cut yesterday - it is a well paid occupation if you can get in there.

The thing to remember is that, even if LW is highly paid, it's also very high risk - especially for someone like Nadia whose whole career is LW. If she didn't have LW, what else would she do?

Anyone can be dropped and replaced without warning, at any time. There is no job security. It's rare to have someone like Nadia who's really been on there for ages - so many people come and go. Unfortunately, she must be doing something right, and it's not adding hummus into spaghetti.

Nadia has been very very lucky, getting onto LW. After 20 years, she is hanging on in there by her fingernails.
She "must be doing something right, and it's not adding hummus into spaghetti" errrmmmm, what exactly is she getting right? She is getting on everyone's nerves, even her LW colleagues are now totally fed up with her and calling her out! Maybe they are fed up of her making all the LW look bad in the press, on social media and on tv.

Also after all those years, don't you think it is time to give other "out of work celebrities" a chance on LW? She has also had so many chances in TV land, for goodness sake she even had her own cookery show last year and that was a total flop! If she was that wonderful at what she does, she would have been commissioned for a second series surely?

The only thing keeping her on LW is her contract, there must be a very good reason why they can't get rid of her !

Well, if you are anything like me, i like to sleep well at night, hence why we both submit legitimate accounts.

Tax fiddlers give me the gut ache.

I can't remember which vlog but Nadia mentioned The Massuse and that it was a film project for Nadia's neice who was just getting into acting, of course Mark leads everyone to believe it was much more, a paid job etc which is what he did when he was doing the school project with Maddie and her friends which never materialised.

It’s such a shame he just can’t be honest about this stuff. That’s a nice thing to have done for his niece if it’s true.

He has worked in TV and had some success, he’s (hopefully) beaten a serious addiction, he’s probably given a lot to home schooling his daughters, he’s created a pretty successful YT channel. All stuff to be very proud of! It’s the constant blowing his own trumpet as a director/producer/teacher/writer/historian that draws all the criticism.

OMG she has just put this on fb and Instagram. This has gone too far now 🤢🤢. She has to be reported
Ugh... The thing is, she's incentivised to do it. Every time she takes her kit off on instagram (every other day, it feels like), she gets tons of likes and it appears all over the press.

At least the decking has been given a sweep before the picture - it's nice not to have abject chaos as the background of her sultry pictures.

This is so so wrong! How are they getting away with it. Is a few hrs youtube content a week even classed as tv production??? Surely the tax man needs to forensically investigate their "expenses?".
Their youtube content is available for the tax man to see, surely spaghetti and a cake twice a week doesn't warrent what they'll put through a food expenses. They are such liars, what a vile way to live, manipulating viewers and manipulating the tax man, no wonder he doesn't sleep 😡😡😡
