They are so entitled. Whinging endless about normal neighbourly noise. For example I wouldn’t dream of complaining about a baby crying or a child playing in their back garden, nor would I complain about someone listening to the radio in the back garden in summer. They seem to expect complete silence all the time, but when you live in close proximity to others you have to expect some noise. Maybe it’s because I grew up in a Victorian terrace where we could hear the next door neighbours TV through the wall and hear them opening and closing their kitchen cupboard doors (they could hear us doing the same), but it never entered our heads to complain and to be honest you only noticed it when it was really quiet anyway. If you want complete silence you need to move to a detached property, though they’d probably find fault with the neighbours there as well

It’s funny, but I would have thought if you had a problem with noise, you shouldn’t move somewhere “silent” like a rural detached because anything that breaks it will drive you batty.

In the country, animals make a colossal racket for big chunks of the year and there are always people making their presence felt (neighbours / farmers / overhead planes if you’re within 30miles of an airfield / live rounds if near a hunting trail or military base etc.)

You’re best off moving somewhere with a constant “hum” like the whooshing white noise of a dual carriageway or motorway - I live near one and it does cancel most noise including a lot of low level base / garden noise / dogs whining.

But it’s hard to be snobby when an A or M road is within hearing distance.

This isn’t so much a mums net post but I have been trying to remember the name of an Instagrammer for weeks now and I know she used to have loads of issues with mumsnet threads about her and she always claimed she was bullied and I think she tried shutting them down!

can anyone remember her - she had a bit of a following, I’m sure she was a single mum, very anti Tory and I’m sure she used to always post about poverty and was maybe even a writer (I’m sure she was holding audiences where she was discussing poverty) but there were rumours she was actually not in poverty at all and was using it for her own gain - pretty sure there was an issue with the fact she was gifted a rug or something but couldn’t buy food? Pleassse say someone remembers it’s been bugging me for ages!!

Could be so many! But maybe Cash Carraway?

I hate the way men are spoken about on there at times but there's been a lot of threads recently asking posters if they regret having children and a lot of them said they did because of the environment.

I see a lot of this popping up on Reddit too. That or people talking about how expensive kids are and how less than affluent people shouldn’t have them basically

Mumsnet would probably love those discussions but obviously all well off and living in mansions

The Centre Parcs thing goes over my head. I used to think it was a holiday camp under a gigantic perplex bubble (bit like the Eden Project) so that if it rains all the activities can carry on. I thought that was it’s USP. But recently found out that isn’t the case. Never understood the “kudos” given to it by MN, even less so now I know it is a holiday camp with nothing extra to define it from other camps. And then the clique alludes to sexual activity- I don’t know what all that is about.

That’s what I thought Centreparcs was like too! I was quite disappointed it wasn’t actually under a giant dome.
I have a friend that goes every year and I just don’t get the appeal. To me, it sounds like a Haven/Butlins for the middles class. It’s soooo expensive for what it is. No wonder they love it on MN.

I wish more parents were like you... Its never nice having to tell someone their child had been bitten (or is a biter!) but it's a perfectly normal stage of development, and is usually done out of frustration at being unable to communicate what they want. Some parents seem to think that the biter has targeted their child on purpose out of nastiness which is rarely the case.

I do feel sorry for nursery staff cos they seem half terrified of you as a parent and you can see visible relief when you’re not mad that you’ve got to take your kid home cos they’ve been sick or have suspected chicken pox?! There’s been quite a few influencers bitching about nursery staff which blows my mind - my daughter LOVES her nursery “friends” and they go above and beyond for their kids, how could you be so muggy to them?

And on 101/childhood ASBO - today they’re the bitten, tomorrow they’ll be the biter there is no way for me to control her behaviour at this age, so by the grace of god go I/we that she doesn’t go off the rails and bite every chubby finger in her room

I don't believe most of the threads on there. If I was on a romantic date or on holiday with friends or in A & E, the last thing I'd be doing is updating random strangers. But I think some posters encourage the trolls further by adding shamelessly placemarking and begging for updates.

Definitely a lot of keyboard warriors on there who wouldn't be so bold in RL.

MILK IN BOTTLES?! My grandparents and parents would be having fainting fits. So common to put a milk bottle on the table instead of pouring it into a jug.

Me, I just take my bowl of cereal or mug of tea to the fridge to pour the milk in from the plastic.

Nah, you're slacking! You get milk out of fridge and then take plastic bottle to the tea/coffee/cereal. Then you leave plastic bottle out for next user... HTH

I'm planning a wedding at the moment and this annoys me. I don't care if you got married in your lunch break, wearing your overalls from work, had a quick McDonald's and back to the job. If that's your dream wedding, great! But others are free to spend their money on whatever they want

What the hive mind if MN don't understand, everybody is different and everybody has the right to do what makes them happy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

So I'll keep wearing black tights with white trainers and a brightly coloured dress. I will not ever wear a statement necklace or a statement scarf (whatever that is) and I will enjoy my expensive wedding rings and look back a photos of my wedding cakes on my wedding day.

There was one recently with Curry’s messing up the price of a Dell laptop for £99 and lots of posters queued up to announce they’d bought them as Christmas presents for their children as it was such a bargain. Some buying 2-3 of the things.

Of course Curry’s did cancel orders and posters argued about it (blaming the more realistic posters) posted sad faces and saying that they were refunded.

I'm all for a realistic bargain but when you know it's a fuck up from some glitch, don't be such an entitled twunt about it!
