Wage stagnation is a real problem & why so many are finding it hard to get a mortgage. I also think the concept of London weighting is an utter myth (outside of public services which tend to be so poorly paid they need to offer *something*, and some roles that historically have been exclusive to London eg IB). I’m in a technical field and see the exact same salaries regionally, and even outside of your next biggest/popular cities like Manchester or Edinburgh. It is also really hard to hire people in my field (in London) which shocked me, but on the other hand I’m not surprised because you can go up to Manchester and rent a flat *alone* in media city for a few years, have a significantly better lifestyle, minimal commute, then go buy a decent 3 bed house within a few years on the same salary you’d be in a house/flat share with waiting til you met someone to halve rent and start saving with. Obvs remote working will change all this but it’ll only widen the gap betweenFor all the talk about difficulty hiring, I'm not seeing muuch movement in salaries for anyone other than Lorry Drivers. I'm looking to change jobs, live in the SE (within zone 6) and still only seeing salaries around the £20,000 mark for customer service roles.
I have just read thisThere’s one where the in laws are charging to go for Christmas despite having £100,000 plus wage.
Is this the daughter's friend or the adult OP's friend who told her off - and that is the same 'pal' who was goaded? And when you say 'ended up on the ground with a hurt arm,' this was due to violence from this friend? There was a thread earlier where the Op’s daughter does dancing and was told off by her friend for dancing instead of walking normally. She deliberately goaded her pal and ended up on the ground with a hurt arm. The OP is more bothered that her mum friend bitched about her daughter than the fact that her daughter was rude to her friend.
The daughters friend told her off and the daughter responded by saying “you are too ugly to dance” then she was taken down by the friend. Friend’s mum apparently said “why can’t so and so just walk normally rather than dancing in front of people! Is this the daughter's friend or the adult OP's friend who told her off - and that is the same 'pal' who was goaded? Mum of dancing girl wants to send a text to tell her friend off for bitching about her daughter cos she’s practicing for a Christmas show. Two adult women and their respective 9 yr old daughters. One daughter likes to dance everywhere - street, bedroom, pavement, school as she ‘loves it’. She twirls in front of the other girl who tells her to stop as it’s annoying. Dancing girl says no, and continues to prance about. Other girl apparently pushes dancing girl to the floor and says her mother also thinks it’s annoying and so do school teachers. Dancing girl says second girl couldn’t be a dancer because she’s too ugly. Both girls get a telling off but story is told from perspective of dancing girls mother, who seems to think it’s ok to dance everywhere as she’s practicing for a Christmas play.
Everyone was in the wrong, but I would find dancing girl intensely annoying (in fact I actually knew a girl and her pushy mother just like them).
When your weekly ticket to work in London is 150 a week with one train a hour during rush hour we need as much London weighting as possibleWage stagnation is a real problem & why so many are finding it hard to get a mortgage. Sorry I know this isn’t the house prices thread lol.
Only half?I hate these joy thieves. They're unbearable.
The kind of women who have imposed so many restrictions on what they eat and drink and who they fuck and how and when and what they do and how they dress that they really, really resent those of us who don't give a fuck.
I just had a share bag of cheese and onion crisps and half a bottle of red for my tea and about to wash it down with some apple crumble and probably the rest of the bottle. Fuck them and their lives devoid of pleasure.
Theres a dadsnet forum on mumsnet:So they do. I never knew that before just now when I googled it.

Apparently it’s due to the amount of champagne they plan on buying which the OP can’t have as they make her designated driver,With “charging” - surely they’re just asking for that family’s share of the total bill which is going to be in the hundreds? It’s not as if they’re selling tickets via ticket master?
Surely offering to pay your share of a huge meal/several day affair is a completely normal thing to do? Or if the hosting family refuse money you buy them something they’d like roughly of the same value?
Unless she gave the reason for going to see the relatives then you can't really say whether it was essential or not.No one thinks they are panic buying though. Everyone has a reason. Even the tossers filling up multiple jerry cans think they have a good reason.
I saw a woman on MN claim that she needed to fill up because she was going to see relatives that live a long way away. It hasn't occurred to her to stay home and let the people that needed fuel for essential trips have it.
