I just spent an hour on AIBU and it’s chilling just how vile and deranged many of them are.

There are some really decent voices of reason but the overwhelming majority are nasty, nasty scumbags.

There also used to be a poster called ‘expatinscotland’ who used the fact that she was a bereaved parent as an excuse to be astonishingly rude to other posters and if anyone dared challenge her you’d be victim of a pile on because ‘don’t you know her child died’. Well yes actually and that’s awful, but it doesn’t give her a right to be so fucking nasty to other people which I saw her do on many occasions.
There was a similar poster who’s name escapes me, whose kids had SEN and she was the same. She was really fucking rude to other posters and everyone always excused it because of her background and said she had a point whether she did or not.

ETA. She was called BishopBrennansArse (I remembered it)

I’m beginning to wonder if the ones that want things like Christmas, flying abroad, don’t care about theatres, nightclubs and pubs closing etc are the ones who have had their fill of seeing their children filled with joy at Christmas, had lots of holidays abroad (maybe even had a gap year abroad) and spent weekends in their youth clubbing and going to pubs. Now they’ve stopped, they don’t want others to have the same opportunities.

The playground one sounds nuts. I wasn’t a tomboy as a child but I would have hated fairy houses. I’ve got two nieces who love playing on the rocket ship slide at their local park. I think they like to pretend they’re astronauts. Even when the term pink jobs and blue jobs was mentioned on there made me want to heave.

Wasn’t there one ages ago where a Mumsnetter went to rescue a poster who claimed that she was distressed but it turned out that the person in distress was making it up?

It’s the same with the begging threads - you have kind hearted posters jumping in offering money to save them?

I thought it was basic internet safety to never assume someone is who they say they are online, especially on a big site like Mumsnet?

I once saw a woman on a mobility scooter almost get hit by a bus as she decided to drive across the road at the same time the bus was driving down the road.

I think I remember reading about the man who drove down the dual carriageway too.

I also read about a little girl who got hit by a mobility scooter and the woman just drove off, no apology and didn't check to see if she was ok.

Mobility scooters can be lethal in the wrong hands and I think there needs to be a test before someone can use them.
And a speed restriction of 6 miles per hour.

My dad’s friend once took his three children to Center Parcs when they were children and he wasn’t impressed with it. He said it was like being mugged for your wallet as soon as you walked in. The only activity that was free was the swimming, everything else had to be paid for.

Bum sex is also “hilariously” mentioned in most Center Parcs threads.

I will miss her Christmas with the Sheep fairy lights and her present list. I think she made hampers for all her friends and colleagues one year 😂

Not to mention the nativity on the village green where all the teenagers participate and don’t act bored or slope off 😂

That site is toxic!
I knew someone who took heaps of advice from there and has tried to be 'a perfect parent'. Her kids never had chocolate for first few years, not even baby chocolate puddings! and they didn't go to mcdonalds until they were 3yrs old and that was for a Birthday treat. Drank only water etc etc.
Needless to say they are now spoilt brats who scream and cry every day when they don't get their own way, while she loses her shit screaming in to a towel 🥴🙈
Not a particularly good example of how Mumsnet is toxic. It so is, but there are many more examples to choose from.

I have never taken my children to McDonald's. They are 15 and 16. (Needless to say they take themselves there now 😁) I also never fed them baby chocolate puddings. They're fine. Not spoilt and don't cry when they don't get their own way. I didn't learn that from Mumsnet, I just chose that way myself. 🙄

Has she been banned? I kind of miss her bragging, especially at Christmas. Nothing like crumbs to make you feel like an inadequate feral loser.

She’s certainly conspicuous by her absence, even under her most recent username. Perhaps MNHQ finally cottoned on to her mass of rampant inconsistencies, dodgy medical ‘advice’ and foul sneering and wielded the ban hammer.

I fucking hate ironing. I’d rather stay married to a cheater than iron for a living 😆 They can do what they like and in return, just don’t make me iron!

Someone once told a poster who was worried about money and feeding her kids that she could forage wild berries at the side of the road. Same energy.
Berries? Must have been a piss take surely?

They’d judge me for sure - my front door blows open if I just close it so I have to keep it locked.

These posters judging someone for locking the door are probably the ones who jump on to judge and berate, are those that are deliberately contrary for the sake of it. They probably never open their door unless they’ve got a visitor scheduled in advance.

And the macaroni cheese toastie sounds lovely but as I don’t like chips, I’d probably give them to my brother.

I’m always reminded of this sketch every time there’s a Deliveroo/Uber Eats/Just Eat takeaway thread and someone says they don’t understand the trend for takeaways.

With “charging” - surely they’re just asking for that family’s share of the total bill which is going to be in the hundreds? It’s not as if they’re selling tickets via ticket master?

Surely offering to pay your share of a huge meal/several day affair is a completely normal thing to do? Or if the hosting family refuse money you buy them something they’d like roughly of the same value?
Yeah our family all bring small particular bits but the host (which changes every year) does the Turkey and main stuff and we all chip in £50 quid per family. Saves the host bankrupting themselves 😅

I think the lack of updates to the sites is partly because users have stomped their feet so much whenever thing change. But they should have been dragged into updating things and making it somewhat modern.

They introduced quoting, but you can only quote once and if a post has quoted someone you can't quote so it's pretty useless and a waste of time. And they have a team of technical people doing what exactly everyday?

They made it so you can't edit the quote to prevent abuse rather than making it like here and every other forum and then if someone abuses it then you can take action.

They said the edit button is a bad idea as it would make people gaslight. 😆 So silly refusing features because they have the potential to be abused when any rational person would introduce them but take action if they're abused.
It’s the amount they charge for partnerships that really baffles me. Sure, it’s got a large audience but the ads they create are so bad it’s painful.

I loathe censorship but I would laugh like a drain if that place is ever cancelled and forced to shut down.

The Pearl clutching reminds me of my old workplace where a co worker in his 30’s said gaming was his hobby and a snobby co worker said she didn’t think gaming was a hobby.

This is how I imagine the Pearl clutcher to look:

There’s a post I just saw and it’s about a woman being devastated that her 17 year old daughter has called her a narcissist. In the first post I thought aw poor mumma that’s spiteful but get over it, teenagers have sharp tongues they can’t always control.

But each time she posts she comes across more and more of a narcissist! Now I think poor daughter, thank heavens you’ll be 18 soon and able to run run run! But anyway, commenters are like kick her out, take away the phone (that the kid pays for with her job money), etc. In five years time when this kid comes on to mumsnet to complain about her toxic mum those same posters telling the mum today to kick her out will be telling the daughter to go no contact with the abusive Mum!

I read this. She literally did nothing but moan about how she'd spent on her child, I couldn't help but feel bad for her child. No kid needs that rammed down their throats, it's not necessary at all
