There’s a thread on there at the moment about a Curry’s glitch and a Dell laptop being sold for £99, lots of posters falling over themselves to buy it, saying their partner/kids will use it for gaming.
Naturally the posters who are being more realistic about it are being told they’re jealous, got sour grapes because they missed out on a fab bargain and posters smugly patting themselves on the back because they think they got such a good bargain.

How often do you actually hear about trans assaulting women in female changing rooms? I don't think I've ever seen a new story about it. Yet it seems to be all they talk about on the feminism boards.

Trans women are such a tiny % of the population that I’d imagine most bathrooms gender neutral or not aren’t being used by them full stop, but I think the issue is more self ID facilitates men with bad intentions as no one is allowed to call out the presence of non conforming people without fear of being labelled a discriminatory TERF etc. So these laws accommodating trans women endanger all women (! Including trans women!) and it’s something that no one seems to want to discuss? I’m not against trans women using women’s bathrooms but I’m against not so much as being allowed to discuss the pros/cons of single sex places (especially places for vulnerable women like prisons and hostels) as it’s now lumped in as TERF tit. Like surely we should be having a nuanced convo of pros/cons which in turn convinces people like me who just don’t get how it’s gotten to this point? All you ever see from trans lobbyists on Twitter is extremities or abuse. I’m not saying that the other side is golden as they’re not, tbh Twitter has made this issue far more toxic than necessary and it’s easy to forget that the vast majority of the country have no idea about this stuff ??

And let's not forget that trans activists bullied a woman out of her university career (Kathleen Stock, who actually has moderate gender critical views) so it's baffling to see Mumsnet posters being described as 'taking it to extremes'. Since this is a thread about Mumsnet, I will say that Mumsnet has many problems but the fact that they're clued in on the issues on gender identity is not one of them. Sad to see that women can't even discuss these issues on an anonymous forum without being labelled as haters or whatever.
This is a big part of the problem tho. Like I cannot understand what I’m missing, as a v left wing / socialist leaning person I struggle to see how I have more in common with the Julie Bindels of the world than the right on Twitterati, and they’re losing us with good intentions because no one will bleeping have a conversation with us and explain? Like please can someone explain to me how you’re going to safeguard young girls in communal swimming changing rooms from a person you would assume to be male coming in and masturbating in front of them if self ID is a thing and no one’s allowed to question based on appearance? Is it now an after the horse has bolted policy? Like can someone please explain? The only thing that’s come close is people saying oh dangerous men would do that anyway! Well yes, the very worst of them would but lowering the barrier to entry means you get more nutters offending, surely?! It’s not as if SA or grape convictions are even near double digits because it’s so hard to prove/he said she said (or they said she said you know what I mean). Like is it so bad to ask this question?
The thing is none of this reflects poorly on trans women, because I’m not suggesting a trans woman would do that because I’m sure she wouldn’t. All we are asking for is for people to consider every implication of these policies?
What I find hard to deal with is that the meaning of trans has changed so that it has gone from being a person with gender dysphoria who more than likely would have had medical treatment to being a person who doesn't even need to have gender dysphoria at all and as this screenshot says.
