There’s a thread going at the moment and, if even a fraction of it is true, it only confirms my belief that some people are intractably mentally ill, and should not be cared for in the community. It doesn’t work.

There also used to be a poster called ‘expatinscotland’ who used the fact that she was a bereaved parent as an excuse to be astonishingly rude to other posters and if anyone dared challenge her you’d be victim of a pile on because ‘don’t you know her child died’. Well yes actually and that’s awful, but it doesn’t give her a right to be so fucking nasty to other people which I saw her do on many occasions.
Oh blimey I remember her. I mean, I can’t even comment on the hell she went through and how traumatised was, but she used it to win arguments all the time. I hope she’s doing better now.

The petty revenge thread is awful. Some of them border on harassment and it won’t be the posters egging the OP on who will be in trouble if the OP takes their stupid advice.

There was a neighbour dispute that ended in a stabbing last week in my hometown which ended with one man losing his life.

One of the petty revenge acts still upsets me now - where a poster kidnapped his neighbours barking dog and drove it 20 miles away and abandoned the poor thing.😡
There are a lot of very nasty people on mumsnet, he wasn’t even banned for that either.

And that poster raised my alert mode because he kept obsessively posting about his niece having a baby. He was a real oddball.
Hates dogs but joins a parenting website to bore people with distant relatives having babies.

Eating is a weird one for me. I don't get pleasure from stuffing my face. I do from looking in the mirror and liking what I see. And people who pig out on bad food and then moan they're fat and can't lose weight do get on my nerves a bit. But if you wanna eat whatever and be happy with it then good for you.

And tbh hearing people hear call women who don't eat loads joyless, to me feels as bad as the competitive under eaters on MN. We're all different and some of us care more about being thin than food. A lot of us don't actually like all the bad stuff either.

Fyi I don't serve or eat garlic bread, it's not worth the calories.

I read and enjoy lot of different forums, including here and Mumsnet, and I think if you think they are all that different you are kidding yourself. 😂

For example, the petrol post above. I stopped reading the Kate Lawler thread on Tattle because it was literally just post after post from posters trying to out do each other about how bad their postnatal depression/sleep deprivation/breastfeeding difficulties were. I think it's just how it goes on forums sometimes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Looool agree, there are some really good vibes threads and wonderful contributors that foster those positive communities then some threads are just yikes. I won’t name the thread cos I don’t want a telling off but really interesting long form discussions going on about the economy/sociopolitical things and we get to a point in the thread where a few contributors discussing their work issues/exploitative employers tbh & how they want to move up to the next step of their career and earn more, someone just comes on to talk about her husband’s salary with no like… no developed conversation or point of view? Just drop the figure and that’s enough - like how could you see that point in the convo as appropriate to drop that in, and why is a number remotely interesting? I’ve seen it a few times tbh, if you ever discuss numbers you’ve caught the mumsnet strain of MC wank

There’s a thread where the OP is annoyed her Teen who has ASD hasn’t packed to go on holiday and just wants to leave him home.
Then later when people are pointing out that she shouldn’t leave a 14 year old with ASD alone, they have announced his dad is packing and she’s done and not going. I doubt the poster will return.

There‘s another one where a poster was apparently called a ‘Karen’ for stopping a random child running out of a shop. So obviously made up, yet it’s still there!
i don’t like the term Karen but the women on MN go complete batshit crazy when someone mentions a scenario and uses the Label karen. No matter what the thread is about, it gets completely derailed and the topic becomes how the poster is BU for using that term

I have a look on there occasionally. Not a signed up member, but the place is absolutely bonkers. So much of it is obviously made up!

On a serious note though, I think there are lot of women on there who have serious issues with food! The competitive underrating that goes on is shocking!
I think there’s going to be a lot of kids of these freaks with eating disorders when they’re older!
Like the “what have you eaten today” threads - never any snacks! Maybe I’m just a 🐷 🤣
In fact, look on any of the posts on there asking for help with weight loss/child’s diet/general healthy eating etc and you will be told that snacks are the devils work!

I've got a big blingy necklace with a dragon in Swarovski crystals and I love it although a) I am Chinese and often bring out the necklace for New Year, etc and b) my dress sense is very tacky and OTT. If I wanted a necklace like the one in that thread I would just hand my 3-year-old nephew some beads and a packet of penne and ask him to come up with something for me

People on MN never answer their door! You aren’t allowed to visit their new babies, regardless of your relationship to the family, you’ve to wait til the kids about 6 before you can see them, all gifts are tat, everyone is a ‘narc’ and they all suffer from MH issues, mostly anxiety…that just about covers every post on it!
So true
Also,
All men are abusers but if a woman does anything out of order it's not their fault and somehow the mans.
All kids seem to have adhd or autism.

It's when they try to be evasive but it's obvious what they're talking about that annoy me. I've seen it loads but can't remember any specific examples. It would be like them posting "We recently visited a capital city famous for its tall tower, baguettes and wine and we were shocked by xy and Z" Can't just say Paris??
They can't, it's too outing! Some of them won't even say exactly how many kids they've because it's outing... unless it's 15 or something, it isn't outing!

Did anyone see the one about the breakfast grazing table? Dish of butter, toast rack, bottled milk, cereal in jars because they were brought up to NEVER have boxes of cereal on the table. Apparently this is to make breakfast time easier but sounds like more tidying up to me 🤷‍♀️
MILK IN BOTTLES?! My grandparents and parents would be having fainting fits. So common to put a milk bottle on the table instead of pouring it into a jug.

Me, I just take my bowl of cereal or mug of tea to the fridge to pour the milk in from the plastic.

Was reading a old thread where one had posted if anyone could offer suggestions for ‘insert illness’
A few replies then the OP posted back saying ‘I just knew I’d get replies AFTER I’d been the pharmacy!!’

so passive aggressive! 🤣

My dad’s friend once took his three children to Center Parcs when they were children and he wasn’t impressed with it. He said it was like being mugged for your wallet as soon as you walked in. The only activity that was free was the swimming, everything else had to be paid for.

Bum sex is also “hilariously” mentioned in most Center Parcs threads.
The biggest reason people want to go is so they can say Centre Parcs 500 times per day in the lead up. It’s bizarre, I’ve never felt the need to specify where I’m going on holiday beyond country / city, I’d never say the hotel or rental property’s specific name as that’s tacky? Yet the centre parcs huns thrive on it 😭

I love the AIBUs. They’re hilarious. The way they all turn on one another is so funny. I also noticed that despite all of them being super skinny millionaires with cleaners, PhDs and perfect morals, they’re so bloody jealous and miserable!! I read a post today about adults with problems, one response was something like if there’s anyone without any problems in their life then they’re not living in the real world 😂 okkkay!

Oh and if pornography is ever mentioned then all hell lets loose. If the wind is blowing east on Jupiter’s fifth moon then porn is to be regarded as bad, degrading and any man or woman who watches it must be burnt personally by Satan. If there’s a west wind across mercury though and there’s a high tide on the fourth hour, then porn is all cool for one and all to consume, anyone who thinks otherwise must be ridiculed immediately and called insecure and a male abuser.
I wonder what world I'm in then I haven't got any problems in my life. I must be in the barbie world *Skips off singing barbie girl*.
