This is when mumsnet shows itself for what it is; the amount of bitter women who reply to those ‘how old do I look’ threads with “I would say you look late 60s” when it’s clear the poster is no older then 30 🤣 I’m half torn between thinking the poster deserves it for posting such a stupid thing / amazed at how horrible a load of women can be and cause such a nasty pile on! Quite what outcome the op wants, I’m never sure…
There’s no way to say this without sounding like a bitch but if you’re not capable of finding boots you like then chances are you have no style so shouldn’t commit hundreds on a pair? Like if you enjoy fashion by all means knock yourself out but you’re gonna end up with some country living mag feature you may as well go to Clarks and at least benefit from some orthopaedic care ?

MN is a toxic toxic place.
I sometimes go on the wedding forum, i don't know why because they're generally vile and all show off that they spent under £250 on their whole wedding and if you dare spend more you're stupid, and showy and wasting your money. They will be vile to you if you suggest spending a bit of money on your wedding.
Every MN has worn a second hand, hand me down wedding dress that their aunt Phyllis wore, they didn't have a photographer or any guests and refused to spend any money on any wedding ring. If you ask about wedding cake suggestions you get a tirade of "that's so wasteful" ..."we didn't have a cake"..."who has a wedding cake on their wedding"

I hadnt even seen this before I posted 😂
I went to a wedding in islington I think, it was the town hall , they put an ad on craigslist or FB or something.. it might have been MN . I didnt know them , I had a day off work , there was me and another ad replier . We were the only 2 there .. I wore my best frock . I took 2 photos of them on my phone and emailed them over .
One of my best memories and one of the many random shit I've done

I don't want kids and people always assume I hate kids because of that (I don't), I always say if you want to hear from people who hate kid, get on mumsnet! They either hate their own, their step kids, their neices and nephews, their kids friends, other kids at the school, just random kids or all of the above.

And in real life I don't know anyone who hates their mother in law, the closest is a woman who doesn't like her mother in law but has a good relationship with her for the sake of her husband and kids. Mumsnetters seem to live in a roy chubby brown joke when it comes to mils.
Ah you poor thing! My sister doesn’t want children and is constantly asked why she hates children! Must be so bloody annoying! Apparently one of her neighbours recently said to her she’s weird because having children is all what she was put on this planet for 🤔 - as a seasoned Mumsnetter would say, neighbour needs to give her head a wobble!

I don’t know about the MIL thing though, there’s a rather eye opening thread on here (unless they’re mumsnetters taking over!).

Bluntness called someone a cunt for saying "I'll drop it off midmorning". Imagine if anyone else had done that.

The ones who go on about climate change and how they love their electric car and lecture others who have 4 x 4s, remind of this:

Haha she honestly expected to be inundated with replies while she was standing in the pharmacy? Why the hell not just ask the pharmacist who is highly trained and knowledgeable on such things instead of randoms on Mumsnet. And then getting arsey afterwards 🤣
I know like expecting a instant reply?! Forums aren’t a ‘service’ so no one is obligated to reply, so either she could of waited til she got a reply or like you say ask a actual medical professional 🤣

I can’t find the B&B one. I can never really understand why some people go on the internet and tell such a specific story- the daily Mail love mumsnet for story pinching.
I do find there’s a lot of drinking one-up manship on MN. It’s either a bottle a night or I only drink a thimble of wine on my birthday and at Christmas. Anywhere in the middle and you’ll be told you’re drinking too much. (100% respect to the teetotallers whatever their reason).

Just googled toast. I'm not sure what the fuss is about. they just look like any other generic jumper that you can buy from Tesco or next. I'm sure it's nice wool, but wool only costs so much. For that price I'd want a bit of design flare.

There's quite a few on the site who are clearly very unwell. The level of sustained hatred they manage to maintain over long periods of time and across several boards is just not healthy and is very worrying. It often scares me that these people are out there, queuing behind you in Sainsbury's or sat at the next table in Starbucks. And they're seriously disturbed.

Then factor in how quite a large proportion of vicious posts are made quite late in the evening at
the weekends and you suspect they have a drink problem on top.
You're so right. The level of sustained bitterness and anger at literally everything is really unhealthy. And the fact there's rarely a voice of reason is very worrying too. It always goes from zero to nuclear, no thought of "and breeeeathe" or "counts to 10", its straight to reactivity and escalation.

The mindset and suggested reactions to so many normal day to day occurrences are really harmful IMO.

It’s like the style and beauty board; so many of them act like the next Anna Wintour. Then they have a “what are you wearing today?” thread and you see they are far less Vogue and much more Take a Break style.
I shouldn’t laugh, but that comment is spot on.

I dunno. Papers will publish any old shite for clickbait these days. I saw one the other day about someone whose ‘Christmas had been ruined’ because Hermes had lost their parcel, which was a 30 quid hair shaver for her partner. The most interesting thing about the article was that her boyfriend was called ‘Tank’.

I don’t know why they get so upset that their comment might end up in the online paper anyway. I often try and say something outrageous on there in the hope that it ends up on Mumsnet Madness of Twitter 🤣

My favourite thing is when they go ‘I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR THE DAILY MAIL TO PUBLISH THIS’ at the top of a tedious thread about them moaning about their husband’s hobby (cycling) or their bridezilla Sister In Law.
I got a comment in the DM once on a topless sunbathing thread.

It's annoynous so who gives a shit if it's in the paper. And if it's "outing" don't put it on an internet forum, or change the details a bit.

There’s another thread too where an 8 year old called her mum an asshole and she wants to ban her from going for ice cream. Some of the responses are very cruel - ranging from ban Christmas, take her hover board (already confiscated) to the charity shop, one poster said if the child was hers, she wouldn’t have been given any lunch, another said hers would end up with a smacked bottom instead of ice cream.

The child did do wrong but surely no ice cream and the confiscation of her hover board is punishment enough?

For a parenting site, some posters really get off on being nasty to children:(

Plus some are working themselves into a froth about how the child learned the word asshole.

I’ll be blocking the site again once I learn how to work my new phone.

Thing is, there are some really lovely posters on there, but you have to find the right spot. For example, Elderly Parents is full of helpful, non-judgemental people who understand what it is like to be caring for an older person and the awfulness that very often comes with it - I miss those people who had my back for a long time. But I'm not prepared to ask for re-admittance and promise to be a good girl...

There are some special wankers on any thread about Meghan and Harry, I swear they must have some sort of klaxon whenever anyone dares criticise Meghan! "but what about Andrew" "you're a hateful raycist" etc etc etc. or blah blah blah as Greta the Doom Goblin might say¬
