Constantinople is the product of the one time they ducked, but neither enjoyed it. 🤣
I just imagine that like the scene in Kevin & Perry Go Large where Kevin says to Perry “They’ve only ever done it once” and how he thought his parents conceived him 😂🤣

"AIBU: DH has said he wants to join his friends and play football once a week at the leisure centre"

"OP I am furious for you! How dare he have a couple of hours with his mates and spend maybe £10 of precious family money on himself? Get your ducks in a row and LTB"

"OP is it really football? Sounds to me like he's having an affair. Get to your mums house right away"

"What right does he have to do this? Doesn't he know that anything other than work time must be family time? Does he not want to spend all his time with you?"

"Be careful. He may meet some new friends with working class names such as Dave or Trev. Some of them may even be (shock horror) tradesmen"
I think she needs to call Woman’s Aid immediately about that one.

Yes!! Was so gobsmacked by so called promiscuous neighbour wanting to ride share to football to get her claws into OP’s husband! Just wtf 😆 trust issues galore
"Excited after a game of football, high on adrenaline and wearing shorts"

Was my favourite line from her post 🤣

As a pp said, they all say the exact same phrases! ducks in a row, a DH problem, ’lots to unpack’ etc. They recommend counselling for EVERYTHING! you always have to go to a counsellor to unpack things…doesn’t anyone have any kind of resilience at all? Do we really need to spend endless hours talking about ourselves to a therapist? (Disclaimer: if you need therapy, I don’t mean you) they’d never, ever do or say any of the things they tell others to do! I especially love the ones who come on with some story eg ‘I really disIike my sister! she’s always hated me‘ blah blah blah, a whole list of terrible things she’s done to her, ‘should I send her a birthday card, she hasn’t sent me one for 40 years?’ 10 pages of being told not to bother, sister sound awful ‘oh thanks! I expected to be told I was horrible!’ No you didn’t!! That’s a lie! You just wanted to be told ‘you sound lovely op!’

You know her husband is probably so dull and unattractive you wouldn't touch him with someone else's 😂

Anyone seen the post where the OP can't pay her rent because her Universal Credit got messed up? She got the flat through a homeless scheme and there's quite a few posters asking "what about the father, Can't he help?" Surely they must know full well that if that was an option the OP would have already tried that?! Also, if she was previously homeless then unlikely there's some magical wealthy ex she's on good terms with that will be able to help her out. Honestly, what world do they live in on there? Some of them are just pushing for be Goss on why the OP is a single parent and what happened with the child's father.

What a stupid suggestion. Everyone knows she should take in ironing, sell stuff on Facebook and see if she has any necter points.

Sorry to go back in about the detention thread but I’ve just had to laugh. I went onto see if the OP had updated- she had and the school came to the correct conclusion imo BUT she said that one poster told her she needed to sell her house to be closer to school if the daughter can’t get to after school detentions 🤣🤣🤣

Some of the replies on the Landlord thread are awful and rude. A lot of smug people on there who have no clue about what it’s like to live hand to mouth. It’s none of their business why she’s a single mum too, they probably want to know so they can stick the boot in harder.

One thing it does highlight us the appealing lack of due diligence by brands and their agencies if they honestly think mumsnet's made up caricatures of women are genuine people/potential consumers 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Theres one where the OP asks if she should complain to the school that when she's 30-40 min late picking her kids up, the "Hall aides" complain about her in earshot of her kids... Apparently she's "only" been late 7 or 8 times since September! That's surely a wind-up?! I work with kids and any repeated lateness like that would end in a call to SS yet it supposedly keeps happening?! Talk about entitled!

I love reading the covid threads when they start panicking about more covid restrictions and lockdowns. "I'm devastated, we won't be able to go to the theatre with my Aunt Margaret who only has 1 leg" or "Little Hugo will be devastated, his piano lessons will be cancelled. He loves piano".

Exactly this! Obviously if a man is genuinely abusive and the woman is in danger then leaving is the sensible option, but like you say it’s not always black and white and when children and joint finances are involved it’s not always that easy.
Let's not forget that if a woman has been too scared, isolated and vulnerable to leave when her children were younger, her adult daughter is then told it's all her mother's fault the abuse happened because she didn't leave and the daughter should completely cut her off for the rest of her life (usually whilst maintaining a relationship with the abusive man as 'he's a good granddad' buys the daughter and grandchildren things).

With a description like that, I'd be asking for a lift...but the likelihood is that the 'DH' in question looks more like

than he does

But also the ‘my mum is awful and I’m struggling to have a relationship with her. She’s not interested in me and tried to slap me across the face after I bought her chocolates for her birthday’

‘OP, you are disgusting! My mum is dead and I would give anything to have her back. It’s your MUM, fgs!’

You can mix and match any family member with that one.
