I opened a Covid thread this morning and the OP was rambling on about how she thinks Omicron could be a Covid-AIDS mutation because she'd read that Omicron was first found in someone who had HIV.

These people are nutters.
Have the viruses somehow mated and produced bastard offspring? I stay away from all forum discussions about Covid, including on mumsnet, reddit or here as there are barely any measured, realistic responses

I must admit I have never ventured into Style and Beauty (as I have neither) and got banned for not liking Meghan Markle - so sue me. The elderly parents thread is particularly supportive though. I was told if I was a good girl I could come back, but thought nah, fuck it.

They are always ‘proudly working class’ or solid middle class. Although I did spot one gem who said she was titled upper class the other day. I was desperate for the Labrador and battered Volvo gang to come by for that. I think she mentioned multiple drives just to make sure we knew.

bingo

Our local Home Bargains is frequented by the local landed gentry buying loads of bog roll and dog treats because they live in houses with many bathrooms and labradors. Also stocking up on jars of artichoke hearts because they're half the price of the ones in the deli. The upper classes hate to part with money

Home Bargains absolutely isn't where poor people shop. Not in this neck of the (well-heeled) woods anyway. I bulk-buy white bamboo washcloths there and Corsydol toothpaste. You're letting your social insecurities show.

**And that’s all made up**
Then we have

I'm genuinely upper class. Father has a real, life mansion and there's some titles somewhere.

We live in the lodge at the end of the drive.

We have real Christmas trees because we like them, a mixture of coloured and warm white lights on the trees. White lights on the trees lining the drives.

Baubles unfortunately were a job lot in ikea a few years ago

I love these threads and the stereotypes of all the classes’

The desperation of those who claim not to care or notice, always on these threads.
Same old names.

Sometimes I think it’s no wonder their husbands have affairs and leave them for other women. They are obviously a nightmare to live with.

I was called ‘ableist’ for saying that mobility scooters are fucking dangerous when not used properly and that there should be a mandatory test before using them.

There’s a thread just now where someone has been fined for her husband having a sneaky fag in a B&B.

she ignores everyone who says he broke the law and picks up on everyone who has commented on her having 2 bottles of Prosecco and her Dh ordering 6 half pints of different beers Because he didn’t know which one he wanted 🙄. Now she’s shouting about the bullies on Mumsnet and she’s not paying the fine because she doesn’t have it.

Mumsnet is a very weird place. There was a thread recently asking what they would do to change the world. A lot of them were saying they would wipe out men and put women in charge.

For a lot of them claiming to be liberal and tolerant - a lot of are the opposite authoritarian and intolerant.

Same with the unpopular opinion threads - they start out ok but then some posters go too far and post truly awful opinions.

A lot of them would tell you the sky was black if you said it was blue.

Imagine a man posting to say he would get rid of all women!! He would be crucified!! What I hate is they think women are saints (unless you are a step mum or mother in law) and men are always at fault. I know plenty of women that are dicks and many of them on there. I've read a few threads recently (no longer post) where the woman has wanted a other baby and the man hasn't and the 'advice' has been to 'accidently' get pregnant, and they've known women who have done it. Such double standards.

I saw an old guy on a mobility scooter earlier today, being escorted by two police cars, because he decided to take it down the duel carriageway! There was a massive queue of rush hour traffic being help up by him.

I've been looking through the "To ask what your bedroom looks like" thread where they're posting photos of their bedrooms and I love these sort of threads because along with the "Show us your xmas tree" ones they just show how hilariously bad taste the majority of posters on Mumsnet have. Purple walls, yellow bed sheets, all Ikea. Totally the opposite of what you'd expect of a £100k earner who lives in a listed cottage very rurally would decorate their house with. I honestly think they all just spout bullshit
I've just had a look at that one... God they are awful! I've not seen one that I would want to have myself. The particularly bad ones always come with the comment "not to everyone's taste but we like it" as if they know it's shit 🤣

Oh god there is a thread on ‘how old do i look’ and the usual gassed comments, ‘you look lovely and glowing and look about 15’ when clearly she looks her age.

and she was offended when someone said 50’s when she is closer to that than what the gassers guessed 🙄

The thread on the MIL and social media photo is ridiculous, they are a bunch of banshee’s as soon as MIL is mentioned.

also now all of a sudden everyone either works in cyber security or their neighbours giraffe works in cyber security so they ‘get it’ 🙄

Don’t want to appear joyless myself but please don’t twist what I said.

‘Two glasses of wine and you are alcohol dependent too. Joyless arses’

Eating is a weird one for me. I don't get pleasure from stuffing my face. I do from looking in the mirror and liking what I see. And people who pig out on bad food and then moan they're fat and can't lose weight do get on my nerves a bit. But if you wanna eat whatever and be happy with it then good for you.

And tbh hearing people hear call women who don't eat loads joyless, to me feels as bad as the competitive under eaters on MN. We're all different and some of us care more about being thin than food. A lot of us don't actually like all the bad stuff either.

Fyi I don't serve or eat garlic bread, it's not worth the calories.
I imagine a lot of it is connected to mental health.

calling eating ‘pigging out’ is probably related.

There’s a thread on there at the moment about the petrol panic buying and how selfish it is etc. In true mumsnet style there are several posts stating that they ‘needed’ to buy petrol because they ‘needed’ to go to work. Surely it’s obvious that the OP is referring to those idiots who are just buying for the sake even though they still have half a tank and are filling up Jerry cans etc not people who are filling up because they genuinely need to? It was the same at the start of the pandemic with the toilet toll shortages, the amount of posters who said it was sensible to ‘stock up’ was laughable. You can tell that mumsnet posters fuel a lot of this behaviour. I once started a thread about people who panic buy at Christmas and buy about 27 loaves of bread. I was told by several posters that they had to cater for 30 people that years and needed to buy that much bread, I didn’t realise sandwiches were a thing on Christmas Day?🙄

Just had a mooch on MN for the first time in years as I'm trying to adopt next year after losing a baby this year, I can't put myself through the fear of another pregancy and I don't really want to start discussing this with mates yet as they're probably going to be quite negative about it.
Anyway what a fucking cesspit of transphobic cunts with literally nothing but stupid fucking opinions.
I'll stick to tattle, the fresh hell am I going to go there again.
The very best of luck to you with your adoption.

I strongly believe someone will go too far on that site one day and it will end in tragedy.

People on there do forget that there is a real person with feelings behind the screen, someone who may be struggling with all sorts of issues and may need support not a pile on which only serves to make the nasty person feel better about themselves and the one seeking advice/support wish they hadn't bothered posting or even worse than they did before.

It's like a form of blood sport to some on there at times.
