The green party announced with a big fanfare when Jack left Labour to join them. Is there anyone left to vote for? If they were so willing to believe this obvious poverty cosplay then they don't give much confidence.

Not only should MPs have to declare their financial interests, but those of the generations above them on both sides (husband and wife or wife and wife etc).

Jack’s dad inherited a rental property and the money from the sale of a LOT of others from her big time landlord grandad. This is all public domain info that costs £1.50 processing fees to access, the properties would have been sold in 2012 or later when he passed so it would be very easy for anyone with the time to estimate how much cash those properties generated so how much each child of the grandad would have received, it’s easily in excess of a million just by the sheer volume of properties involved. Why no one has done this very basic level of interrogation is beyond me. Edwina Curry did back in the day in fairness.

Especially with intergenerational wealth / inheritance meaning more to someone’s financial standing than their own income, it’s madness this isn’t declared.

Today the huns are having a competition on who is worse off after the budget. I absolutely get that people are struggling financially, it’s not unique to mumsnet. But jeez why the constant race to the bottom and calling out of people that are slightly better off than themselves. The attitude of some of the posters sucks.

A lot of the time it's things like ' What's the point in my DH running his hedge fund if 50% of his 3rd million is going to go on tax?' rather than people genuinely struggling.

The other thing that occured to me is how cruel some kids can be (unknowingly). Who wants to be the kid that other kids talk about "we got cake at Annie's party and she wasn't allowed to eat any and was sat there eating raspberries"

Just had a mooch on MN for the first time in years as I'm trying to adopt next year after losing a baby this year, I can't put myself through the fear of another pregancy and I don't really want to start discussing this with mates yet as they're probably going to be quite negative about it.

Mumsnet gave me a ban at the start of September for saying that Katie Price has drug drink issues and wasn’t a great parent. They said I wasn’t kind and I couldn’t post like that any more, and I could come back if I was sorry and wouldn’t do it any more

Whereas if you posted the same about Peter Andre or Boris Johnson they'd deem that perfectly acceptable. How is that helping society?

Lots of them fall over themselves to defend terrible behaviour that they would probably not tolerate in RL.

I hate the way men are spoken about on there at times but there's been a lot of threads recently asking posters if they regret having children and a lot of them said they did because of the environment.

There’s a thread right now about a lady who is about to lose a close family member and it’s titled about experiences when a loved one passed. There’s also another thread titled something like why do people say passed instead of dead and how they’re disgusted/offended etc about people who can’t say dead or died and how disgusting it is to say passed or passed away. Fucking vile. Surely people can use whatever words they like?!

There is a thread in the AIBU section by a woman who is annoyed because her husband changed the letters on her “let it snow” sticker in her window to “melon tits”

I've actually seen people saying you shouldn't spend lots on your kids because it's upsetting to kids with less.

It's so stupid and clearly coming from middle class parents that have no idea what it's like to be poor. Do they think poor kids don't know they're poor. They know and you not buying your kids what they want for Xmas is not gonna make them feel any better about it.

This modern attitude that everybody needs to change their behaviour so not to upset anyone is getting out of hand. I think it's partly the white middle class being offended on people's behalf and partly people being given too much of a voice on social media.

Next we won't be able to put reindeer outfits on kids because Sandra on MN said it's offensive to Inuits.

I honestly think if these types are that concerned about poor kids then they can donate to places who deliver toys and games to kids in poverty.

They're all humble brag about doing it, but that's not necessary, most supermarkets have some kind of toy donation station.
You don't take a sack and hand deliver toys personally to the destitute ffs

I don’t get why they hate tradesmen so much. They are so sheltered and so far removed from real life. The trouble is they surround themselves with similar minded people and don’t know anyone who is genuinely struggling, or on a 0 hours contract so the suggestions they make aren’t always suitable if you literally live hand to mouth and there’s more month than money left.

You always see posters who work in the NHS refer to themselves as a ‘Health Care Professionals’ or ‘HCP’. So you’re a doctor or a nurse then? I’ve literally never heard anyone used that term in real life and I know a lot of nurses, it’s so pretentious

I think it’s a useful catch-all phrase for anyone who works in a medical or hospital environment tbh! Doesn’t have to just be doctors or nurses, could be midwives, physios, paramedics, pharmacists etc.

Mumsnet is a very weird place. There was a thread recently asking what they would do to change the world. A lot of them were saying they would wipe out men and put women in charge.

For a lot of them claiming to be liberal and tolerant - a lot of are the opposite authoritarian and intolerant.

Same with the unpopular opinion threads - they start out ok but then some posters go too far and post truly awful opinions.

A lot of them would tell you the sky was black if you said it was blue.

I do think there's a hell of a lot of misandry on there. Me and my hubby often laugh at the impossible standards MN users set. Just a few examples:

Has to earn big money (obviously all to be handed over as 'family money') but can't work a moment over his working hours, definitely never pull a late one or overtime

Has to be in good physical and mental health but can't pursue any activities like sport or seeing his friends to achieve that

Can't have a different viewpoint or it's 'controlling' or a 'red flag' (although what isn't on there?!? )

We know a very typical "mumsnet type" in real life through school and guess what, her husband left. Not surprised
