I started an AMA once and it descended into accusations of me owning an MLM type business, scamming people etc. because I wouldn’t say exactly what my business is

I contacted MMHQ and asked them to delete the whole thing. I was trying to show how not having a university education shouldn’t stop anyone from thinking they can be successful. I was so pissed off but MNHQ convinced me to leave the AMA up because the story itself was so inspiring.

The problem was that the forum is so full of Walter Mitty types that when a genuine success story with the clear steps showing how anyone can do it comes along, it’s labelled as scammy and nobody believes it. I even offered MNHQ to look at my company accounts to show that I am genuine but I gave up because the posters that were troll hunting were just a waste of time.

Do these tinder for mums apps ever really work? There's so many of them and I guess they work on being annoying unless you give another monthly subscription to them?
They really, really don’t and I say this as someone who would LOVE for them to. Like if I’d even gotten a scrap of goodness from one I’d be singing its praises, but they’re truly dire.

I think inherently it’s a very difficult problem to solve because lbr most mum friends are situational friends (like your uni housemates of yesteryear or your partner’s mates), it’s very hard to meet a true friend that you share values/interests/personality traits with in a situational setting which is what these apps are hoping for?

Jeeeezzz.

I think MNers all shoot their own Xmas Dinners.
3 bird roasts from aldi were inspired by good old Constance shooting phesants, pigeon and quail just to make them into the avian equivalent of the human centipede centrepiece.
The kids might have fuck all to open but if they're lucky they'll find a shilling in their pudding and a bullet in their pigeon.

You always see posters who work in the NHS refer to themselves as a ‘Health Care Professionals’ or ‘HCP’. So you’re a doctor or a nurse then? I’ve literally never heard anyone used that term in real life and I know a lot of nurses, it’s so pretentious 😂

I’m laughing at the one asking about Christmas dinner and evening buffets, and the amount of posters claiming they could NEVER manage to eat a buffet on Christmas Day night, but then go on to list the leftovers/sandwiches/snacks/cheese boards they have at night.. that’s a buffet, no? 😂
That thread made me despair.

Eat what you like when you. Don’t eat what you don’t want when you don’t want it. No meal is compulsory, or forbidden, on any day of the year. 🙄

I don’t know how some of those halfwits function independently

My postman also rings the doorbell between 7 and 7:30, and I’m so happy with that. That means that I have my package before i go to my work 🥳🥳

MN does seem to get an inordinate amount of threads started by trolls. I know it’s a big site but still….
It’s a combination of really shit moderating and the ability to make unlimited name-changes. It allows trolls to run wild and keep coming back over & over again.

That was Crumbs. Resident MN fantasist/troll and she of the Nativity on the village green replete with cherub faced, rosy cheeked children and sheep in fairy lights. Seem to remember she doubled down on the hotel bedroom and the thread got deleted in the end.
It still there:

As a sterling example of the really shit moderation I mentioned above, even when Crumbs was busted for outright lying on this thread, the mods jumped in to defend her 🙄

Countless of her lies have been pointed out time & time again, but MN do fuck all about it. And it’s not as if she’s harmless: she’s a sneery fake who hands out shonky medical advice and deliberately tries to make people feel inadequate because they haven’t attained the invented lifestyle she bullshits about.

I like the sound of Crumbs. I have just been on the bedroom thread and someone mentioned fake photos of hotels and how they missed Crumbs! Sounds like she/he have been banned.
She was around for a long time as Crumbs, but has had at least two name changes in recent times. She also reduced her 6 high-achieving children to 4.

Hasn’t been spotted since around August-ish, so perhaps she finally has been banned for spinning far too much utter bullshit 🤷‍♀️

God yes. They are also so snobby about places like Primark, when for a lot of people it’s all they can afford. They’d hate me as most of my clothes comes from there, Shein, New Look, F&F@Tesco, George@Asda etc. Ideally I’d love to shop more sustainably but just can’t justify the cost! You’ll see a thread from someone asking where they should get nice work clothes from and they’ll say Mint Velvet (I’m sure MN has shares in that place as they recommend if so often) or Jaegar, but those places are so fucking expensive and out of the range of most normal people. They really have no clue. The financial privilege is off the scale, and yes I agree that they are nearly always frumpy as hell when you see the photos of them.
Abolutely. I could never justify Jaeger/Whistles/etc. and I know for a fact I'm still better dressed than the lot of them in my New Look.

They’ve had the cheek to call us Tattlers cunts ! Someone pointed out that MN was much more vile . They are absolute fuckers over there that wouldn’t dare say to someone’s face what they say online. None of them like their husbands / wives partners going out for a pissup if they are out beyond 11pm or god forbid early hours said other halves are hand wringing , anxious , constantly phoning and texting and are nearly calling hospitals ffs
They are always saying how selfish the other one is and how they are parents now and shouldn’t be going out on the piss.

It's all well and good we get "better" jobs but who is gonna look after peoples grandads and nanas? 💔
Heya - I mentioned tax credits so just want to clarify it was by no means a judgment on “better” or “not better” jobs, it was a comment on that particular user saying her husband was a high earner which I’m sure you’d agree is contradicted by her reference to tax credits.

Firstly the value of a job is rarely captured in its salary, eg look at the key worker debate of the pandemic - all of those roles are underpaid if not low paid work yet absolutely essential for our survival/society as you’ve pointed out re elder care. Tax credits are a benefit to companies not families, businesses should be paying their staff a fair and living wage that doesn’t require government top ups to ensure people can afford to live a baseline standard of life. Absolutely no judgment here and sorry if you felt that comment was in any way shitty, honestly not my intention at all.

The posts on the thread from people who are obviously Tattlers are actually quite funny, but ofc you aren’t supposed to s l a g Hinch off, you have to save that for the other posters apparently.
Absolute madness that thread. And they have the cheeky to pull Tattle into it? Glass houses and all that.
On another note I think it’s odd to buy cleaning products as an Xmas present? The OP mentions getting ordinary cleaning products from Tescos and cloths to add to the present. I mean…. !!
Yeah, someone recommended a bed for your sponges. I mean wtaf?!

Does anyone else get the impression that these Mumsnet keyboard warriors wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life 🤣
That’s exactly it, you just know they have so much pent up anger at the world and wouldn’t say shit to anyone, but on MN they give it large and act like they are so assertive and don’t take bullshit.

So many threads end up like that! This one reminds me of a thread about 'pretty woman moments' which started OK, but became more and more outlandish, with stories that were clearly badly written fakes to make posters look good!

They often have a 'script' where the poster writes everything each person said in the conversation with detail, usually with a sort of quip or punchline that makes the poster look so clever!
‘And then everyone stood up and clapped … ‘

Haha she honestly expected to be inundated with replies while she was standing in the pharmacy? Why the hell not just ask the pharmacist who is highly trained and knowledgeable on such things instead of randoms on Mumsnet. And then getting arsey afterwards 🤣
It's like those people that post shit on Facebook like "Why is my baby's sick x colour?" followed by a picture. Just ring a fucking doctor or 111 you absolute maniac!
