It's also a massive date harvesting site - to turn off all the tracking takes in the region of 85 separate swipes and clicks, as they've deliberately used one that defaults to allowed AND refuse to have a Object/Reject All button. Plus if you do go through those 85 swipes/scrolls and clicks, but check back on the Vendors page before saving, every single one of them resets to Allow.

People who have pointed that out, along with the actual laws are told that IT say it's not possible to do and are then swiftly permabanned.

When I worked at a big ad agency we were scraping mumsnet (amongst other sources) for research purposes and selling it to brands lol.

It’s hypothetically possible with anything on the internet, but the way tattle structures its urls makes it harder to trawl through in the same way. Mumsnet isn’t a forum it’s an advertising opportunity.

I always lock the front door after someone walked into my mum’s house and stole her handbag out of the hall. But I live close to a town and a main road, if I was out in the sticks, it wouldn’t be so much of an issue.

Compare it to the threads where no one answers the door after 5pm in the evening, unless they’ve been emailed the date 2 months in advance and had a background check on every member of the knockers family. I suppose some of them just like to argue to the contrary whatever the subject is.

Gaming is a multi billion pound industry for the UK! Lots of adults play! It’s not my thing but is wholly valid as a form of entertainment, and there are tons of brilliant career opportunities in STEM/tech for all of these alleged gifted and talented kids they have!

I love the ones where ‘DH’ has come home at 3am, drunk as a Lord and the advise is to leave him with the children all day whilst you go off into town shopping and find a nice cafe to enjoy coffee and cake, all the while leaving your poor children with someone with a massive hangover! That’s if you haven’t already put all his belongings into bin bags, thrown them into the garden and changed the locks of the house he jointly owns….

Did any one catch the JL glitch thread this morning - it was in Christmas - so many people might have not seen it but basically there was a glitch with a promo code for YSL on the John Lewis website on Sunday afternoon. Instead of just knocking £20 off YSL perfumes the code was knocking £20 off every item in the basket!

Of course some of them went mad and filled their basket with items around the £20 mark as the error meant those items were free so really taking full advantage and also paid for next day delivery. A support thread was then set up because some felt guilty and others were wondering if they would get their items. One poster screenshotted that she added 70 odd items to her basket worth like £1300 but only paid £161!! Unbelievable.

of course they all turned on each other and questioned the morality of what they had done. Said poster who saved herself like 1200 quid was exposed as a charity CEO from her other posts! Proper LOL. Of course mumsnet have deleted it though, god help an actual debate is allowed to run.

Then they will get orders cancelled & be in complete uproar about it I remember about 10 years ago Argos cocked up the price on a really ugly reclining chair, they all went nuts for it. Then Argos realised their error about selling an armchair for 0.50p & cancelled all the orders.

The thing about mumsnet for me is that 95% of the posts could be written by the same poster. They are all similar in style and tone and condescendingness there'll be a handful of posters that stand out in a thread for having a different opinion or a distinctively different posting style, but otherwise they're one and the same. Also a thread could run on for 30 pages and the last posts are still echoing the first. It's like people read the OP, immediately add their opinion without bothering to read the whole thread or at least a few pages. Quite often the issue is resolved and people are still offering pearls of wisdom! Unless somethings kicking off, then they never seem to move the discussion forward.

I think they all quickly learn to talk the same shortly after signing up to try and fit in. LTB, pick me dance, ducks in a row, have you been sniffing glue?, Game changer etc

I'm glad the UC stories are exposing that it's only people with children that can work 2 hours to earn an extra £20 and that childless claimants need to work 6 hours to get £20 extra

I think a lot of people lie online firstly, but also people adjust the truth upwards to reflect where they think they should sit in other people’s social hierarchies if that makes sense? Like IRL they may deem themselves queen bee of their small village / town / borough, but to assert themselves as that online they have to extend the truth. Hence why there are so many apparent HNWIs on that site giving measley pocket money out.

Also ngl most high paying jobs outside of medicine & law are in tech, not sales or marketing like they all claim lol.

There’s a thread on there at the moment asking why there are so few over 50’s women in the workplace and it was decided that most had gone and taken early retirement due to menopause. I must live in a parallel dimension then because I work with lots of women aged fifty plus and know many more still working, All of the women in my family were working in their 50’s. In fact my mum has only retired recently at 65.

Tattle really winds up 'influencers and 'mumpreneurs' etc because they want to be able to peddle crap with no consequence. LOL. I started lurking after that woman turned up moaning to the Select Committee and thought 'this must be a good site if its putting those people in their place!

Hi I'm new to tattle and used MN once, about 10 years ago probably, tbh I can't really remember but it was years ago and it was like being in the playground, so I never used it again. Just rife bullying.

To clarify Tax creds, we get them, 3 kids we've got, but can't claim for the youngest after he was born after the 2 child cut off was brought in.

So my hubs earns just over 1100 a month, full time work and I don't work now because of childcare with 2 autistic kids, not really possible, we have 3 kids in total.
We get an additional £800 a month to top up his wages, without that we'd starve.
Our mortgage is 500, council tax 100, and that's not our only outgoings etc.

Before I met my husband I worked as a care assistant in a nursing home for £6ish an hour, 48 hours a week and got quite a decent amount tax creds because I was paying insane amounts in childcare. I would get about £970 I think.
They're very needed for low earners like ourselves. It's all well and good we get "better" jobs but who is gonna look after peoples grandads and nanas?
