They sell themselves to advertiser's as having 10+ million users. But why the odd time I read it do you see the same names that seem to pop up on every thread being unpleasant

I expect they don't have that many active users and loads of people have signed up for 100+ accounts over the years

Justine and Mumsnet are beyond shady. Online sites have done very well during covid, many breaking new records. There was a tiny dip that lasted a few weeks at the start and then they recovered very quickly.

The bass neck to put out the begging bowl and ask for so much for so little is pretty disgusting. She really does think her message board that technologically is awful and is inhabited by pretty unpleasant people is something special.

Do these tinder for mums apps ever really work? There's so many of them and I guess they work on being annoying unless you give another monthly subscription to them?

There's a post on the "Omicron found in the UK" thread from a poster blaming the pandemic on globalisation and how she wants to go back to a "smaller hassle free world of less international travel". Probably posted by a late 50s/early 60s mum who's already had a lifetime of holidaying abroad and doesn't mind denying the youth the same experiences just because she's "over it"

There’s a post I just saw and it’s about a woman being devastated that her 17 year old daughter has called her a narcissist. In the first post I thought aw poor mumma that’s spiteful but get over it, teenagers have sharp tongues they can’t always control.

But each time she posts she comes across more and more of a narcissist! Now I think poor daughter, thank heavens you’ll be 18 soon and able to run run run! But anyway, commenters are like kick her out, take away the phone (that the kid pays for with her job money), etc. In five years time when this kid comes on to mumsnet to complain about her toxic mum those same posters telling the mum today to kick her out will be telling the daughter to go no contact with the abusive Mum!

This one is hilarious..most of the replies are saying how immature and childish it is and how would be having serious words with DH if he thought that was amusing... they must all be a barrel of laughs at home.

Thread on there today about fruit pouches for babies and how one poster doesn't even feed her cat food pouches as it's bad for the environment. I do both and now feel insanely guilty, what d hell am I meant to feed the cat these are the same people banging on about the environment but are probably on their 3rd new kitchen in 10 years!

My husband ended up with the archetypal evil step mother after his own mother
died when he was a young teen. Absorbing the facts of this soul destroying murder makes me wonder what would have happened if he had been younger. He was neglected, certainly as a 13 year old, and his useless twat of a father stood by and watched, would there have been more, worse had he not been able to stand up for himself. My husband is very unsettled at the moment.

I have a few coats, my favourite is 7 years old and cost 35 quid. Why do some people think cheap clothes fall apart? My clothes and shoes are a mixture of prices and none of them 'fall apart'.

I am still wearing a skirt from Primark bought in 2004. It's getting a little raggedy now but it's absolutely fine for wearing around the house, and in the garden. I will continue to wear it until it falls from my body. Quite a lot of my clothes are from similar stores and have lasted for years. Some of my 'labels' haven't fared so well. An Antik Batik bag disintegrated after 6 months. A DKNY mohair cardigan looks like a nest of badgers has taken residence inside it. A pair of Miu Miu flats that look as if they have been worn by an elephant (I am not an elephant) because they have 'lost tone'. Still at least I don't wear one of those cheugy Gucci belts beloved by our Sal.

Theres one where the OP asks if she should complain to the school that when she's 30-40 min late picking her kids up, the "Hall aides" complain about her in earshot of her kids... Apparently she's "only" been late 7 or 8 times since September! That's surely a wind-up?! I work with kids and any repeated lateness like that would end in a call to SS yet it supposedly keeps happening?! Talk about entitled!

So many threads like 'what secret will you take to the grave?' 'What was your best comeback?' & one ages ago about Pretty Woman moments - they start well, but turn into post after post of what sound like badly written & unbelievable scenes people have created in their minds.

I voted Remain but was very much undecided all along and didn’t decide how I was going to vote until a few days before the referendum. I think they mostly live in this London elite bubble and have no idea how the rest of us live. The are so disgustingly privileged in their massive houses with professional DH’s, privately educated children and live in nannies/au pairs.

Yes I think they are a very small and vocal demographic of women who are quite priveleged and entitled. There are so many competitive threads- competitive parenting, competitive eating, competitive frugality, competitive wealth it's ridiculous and exhausting. I stopped using Mumsnet a couple of years ago. I cant remember what finally broke the camels back but it was just the same things over and over again.

I’m sorry but how can you not know that adults play on the Xbox or gaming systems? It absolutely boggles the mind that they can live such sheltered lives.

It reminds me of when posters say they don’t get involved in FB drama or they don’t know who a certain influencer is because they think they’re above IG and don’t ‘do’ social media (said in a sniffy tone, obviously). Er, what do you think Mumsnet is, luv? You’re not superior because you spend 12 hours of the day on there instead Snapchat. Does anyone remember a poster called le queen? I never paid much attention to her, but I vaguely remember her posts. She seemed quite well off and used to go on about grammar schools a lot!

no idea if she was a fantasist or not, but a lot of the posters on mumsnet really had it in for her.- trying to out her and her family. I still see her name crop up on there occasionally.

Yeah, they didn’t hate her because she was a fantasist (although she was). It was because she was a bitch.

Was just reading a post about katie price/Carl woods. Asking the valid question if they are both saying he didn’t hit her, then who did. Someone jumped on there telling the op it wasn’t “kind” to talk about it and then a few mins later, a mod pops on to say it’s being removed for being “too speculative” ! ffs, katie price literally sold the story two days after the incident to a tabloid, and has done at least one more story on it since then! As well as overseeing every detail of her life generally. Yet we are all meant to sit in silence according to mumsnet and not discuss it why a load of grown women (and a few men) continue to let some power hungry uprights control what they discuss is beyond me.

I was banned for speculating about celebrity affairs, didn't just have my post removed but was banned just like that. The mods are ridiculous, power hungry simpletons who probably also run their local parish council meetings in their spare time when not moderating mumsnet. The only thing I miss is not being able to ask for advice on the gardening or property/DIY boards

There’s currently a thread running on there about M&S Cafe now serving a macaroni cheese toastie with a side of chips and how disgustingly unhealthy this is because its ‘carbs, carbs and more carbs’, they then go onto say it’s no wonder there’s an obesity crisis, like people don’t have free will and shouldn’t be allowed an unhealthy treat once in a while. Whoever said on the previous thread that MN is effectively a pro Anna site isn’t far wrong.

It's not even unhealthy; it's one third of the average TDEE for an adult female. I suppose one could always team it with a Massive Salad, though.

But then again, this is a place that states 'Bananas are Mars Bars in yellow jackets'. So maybe the salad would be excessive, too?

Following this thread with interest, I always thought mumsnet was for messes? I feel like the only threads I’ve ever seen are from new partners slagging off the resident mums & absolutely delusional people pretending they’ve got wealthy husbands yet they’re quibbling over who buys the step daughter’s PJs for visits as they’re paying mum a few hundred quid in CSA as if that touches the sides. Messes the lot of them

This isn’t so much a mums net post but I have been trying to remember the name of an Instagrammer for weeks now and I know she used to have loads of issues with mumsnet threads about her and she always claimed she was bullied and I think she tried shutting them down!

can anyone remember her - she had a bit of a following, I’m sure she was a single mum, very anti Tory and I’m sure she used to always post about poverty and was maybe even a writer (I’m sure she was holding audiences where she was discussing poverty) but there were rumours she was actually not in poverty at all and was using it for her own gain - pretty sure there was an issue with the fact she was gifted a rug or something but couldn’t buy food? Pleassse say someone remembers it’s been bugging me for ages!!

They always sneer at Primark, B & M and shops like that and say how bad they are for the environment but like other people, I've got lots of Primark items from at least 8 years ago and they still look great whereas I bought a Top from M & S and it looked wrecked after just one wear. Plus I love Primark PJs.

The how old am I selfie threads are always a hoot and nearly always deleted.

This is when mumsnet shows itself for what it is; the amount of bitter women who reply to those ‘how old do I look’ threads with “I would say you look late 60s” when it’s clear the poster is no older then 30 I’m half torn between thinking the poster deserves it for posting such a stupid thing / amazed at how horrible a load of women can be and cause such a nasty pile on! Quite what outcome the op wants, I’m never sure…
