Just a polite request please that if people want to discuss calories or restriction (as is your right!) that we could make use of content warnings or spoilers to keep it a safe and inclusive place for people struggling with or in recovery from EDs? Or tbh just anyone who may find it triggering. Thanks x

mod edit;
All members, for the safety of all, Please keep on topic as much as possible and refrain from discussing posting triggering messages /topics on this thread. There are many other threads that cover daily intake/diets and the likes.
thanks ☺

It works the other way round as well. Step mums are the literal devil. If you love the kids like they’re yours, you’re overstepping the mark and if you’re nice to them but keep your distance, you’re not doing enough and should love them like they’re yours 🤪 Again, it’s one extreme to the other 😆
I don’t have kids, but shouldn’t it be a lovely thing that a step parent loves your kids, spends time with them and treats them well? Because I know if I had kids and me and my partners relationship broke down and they got with someone else I’d be happy if their new partner was good to my kids and my kids loved them and they loved my kids. Because it should be the kids opinion not theirs. Your kids feelings trumps your bad relationship with your ex and their new partner

Haha, absolutely this. They're so judgemental and then you see them and they're head-to-toe dowdy Bon Marche meets Joe Brown's.

The same sort of women who say stuff like, "I never use anything but Charlotte Tilbury" and then apply their makeup like the top tips from a 1996 edition of Just 17.
God yes. They are also so snobby about places like Primark, when for a lot of people it’s all they can afford. They’d hate me as most of my clothes comes from there, Shein, New Look, F&F@Tesco, George@Asda etc. Ideally I’d love to shop more sustainably but just can’t justify the cost! You’ll see a thread from someone asking where they should get nice work clothes from and they’ll say Mint Velvet (I’m sure MN has shares in that place as they recommend if so often) or Jaegar, but those places are so fucking expensive and out of the range of most normal people. They really have no clue. The financial privilege is off the scale, and yes I agree that they are nearly always frumpy as hell when you see the photos of them.

Absolutely agree! In fact, there’s a thread running about this on MN at the moment. Apparently some businesses can’t fill vacancies and as usual there’s a ton of polarised opinions, but I’m with the people saying that these companies need to offer better wages, no zero hour contracts and better working conditions. They’ve had 20 years of being able to pick and choose who they employ and with Brexit and Covid it’s coming back to bite them on their arses. The government should never have had to top up the wages of employees who work for companies that make millions of pounds profit a year, yet will only offer zero hours contracts and minimum wage (and absolutely no disrespect to anyone who claims TC or UC). It’s exploitation, both of foreign workers and British workers.
Agree completely. They all believe in free market forces when it benefits them, when the work force is opting out of underpaid & over worked roles suddenly they’re stunned at the concept. It’s like with Brexit them saying there’s a shortage of fruit pickers - no there’s a shortage of people desperate enough endure the working conditions in exchange for low wages huns, sort it out and you’ll find the pickers!

People on mumsnet have the lamest most basic sense of humour. Someone posts something maybe slightly a little bit possibly ‘amusing’ and there are hundreds of calls for it to be in Classics within minutes, before the thread’s even gone anywhere!
They would have to be stretchered out of here in that case

Does anyone remember a poster called le queen? I never paid much attention to her, but I vaguely remember her posts. She seemed quite well off and used to go on about grammar schools a lot!

no idea if she was a fantasist or not, but a lot of the posters on mumsnet really had it in for her.- trying to out her and her family. I still see her name crop up on there occasionally.
Of course, awful insensitive show off. No idea who she is in real life or how anyone could out her unless they know who she is?

I think most people ignore her now, like a child desperate for attention being a pain.

She often brings herself up on threads too when she is socking. I felt sorry for her in the end despite her nasty behaviour.

didnt she live in Paris? (or said she did) Naturally her children were not only bilingual, incredibly bright, gorgeous skinny beanpoles but they saved the goddamn world too! (might have made the last bit up, not sure)

I'm ALMOST tempted to plead for forgiveness, get back in and start another Ellen/Meghan thread. But I wont, because I'm a grown up woman of 60, and it would be silly. Silly, childish, but fun.
I think that was Bonsoir and I kind of liked her in a strange fascinated way. She got really ill I heard with a brain tumour. I don’t know if she survived, I hope so. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Was just reading a post about katie price/Carl woods. Asking the valid question if they are both saying he didn’t hit her, then who did. Someone jumped on there telling the op it wasn’t “kind” to talk about it and then a few mins later, a mod pops on to say it’s being removed for being “too speculative” ! ffs, katie price literally sold the story two days after the incident to a tabloid, and has done at least one more story on it since then! As well as overseeing every detail of her life generally. Yet we are all meant to sit in silence according to mumsnet and not discuss it 🤣 why a load of grown women (and a few men) continue to let some power hungry uprights control what they discuss is beyond me.

I’ve been using Digital Spy for the last sixteen years or so and they’ve allowed you to edit posts for at least ten of those, completely free of charge I might add. Its laughable that Mumsnet has only just introduced it and expects you to pay for the privilege. They are so useless, incompetent and out of touch.

I can imagine someone asking “Did you mean to be so rude?” and someone saying yes 😆

I also hate the phrase “Are you on glue?” Glue sniffing was so 90s.

I also hate “No is a complete sentence”.
Or give your head a wobble. Oh my sides.

There‘s another one where a poster was apparently called a ‘Karen’ for stopping a random child running out of a shop. So obviously made up, yet it’s still there!

I was suprised at how many posters just told her to plead ignorant about the pit bull in it and claim it's part Lab. These are the same people who usually get their knickers in a twist over their neighbours yappy dogs and think all dogs are evil and can't be trusted! You just know that if that dog attacked someone they'd all come down on the OP like a ton of bricks and say she should have had it put down if she'd had any inkling of its parentage!

Just because an Mumsnetter may have a dog as a pet, doesn’t mean they know fuck all about them. DNA mixes and identifying physical features of banned breeds are subjective and largely depend on the vet’s mood when judging them for being put to sleep.

It does my swede in when mn posters write bollocks about “jaw locking” (myth) in fighting dogs as well as shit about shock collars and anxiety vests. Let alone the weird shit about the genetic make up of breeds and mongrels while ignoring simple stuff about reading body language - anxious or aggressive dogs aren’t subtle about projecting their discomfort.

When the facts are simply the smaller the dog, the more they nip. Big dogs can do some damage but the consistent biters seem to be the toy to small sized ”grandad dogs” like yorkshire terriers and the like.

But certain breeds are associated with the wrong classes so catnip for snobby mn posters.

Disclaimer: I wuvs staffies, dobermanns, rottweilers and alsation type dogs - they are like big, clumsy, dopey kids.

It’s the same with sex threads. A man will post asking what to do as his wife won’t have sex with him anymore, he will be called a sex pest. A woman posts asking the same question and will be told that her husband is a porn addict and she must LTB.

I read and enjoy lot of different forums, including here and Mumsnet, and I think if you think they are all that different you are kidding yourself. 😂

For example, the petrol post above. I stopped reading the Kate Lawler thread on Tattle because it was literally just post after post from posters trying to out do each other about how bad their postnatal depression/sleep deprivation/breastfeeding difficulties were. I think it's just how it goes on forums sometimes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There was a horrible thread the other day from a woman who was heavily pregnant, didn’t drive and was struggling to walk her son to school. Some of the comments were vile like they were getting off on kicking someone who was down. I thought it was meant to be a supportive, feminist and enclave? You’d never have thought so from reading that!
They’re horrible people. A lot of them have no life and are miserable being sat at home all day with no mates, no human contact other than their husbands and their kids. So they sit online taking out their anger and rage on everyone else whilst forgetting the user they’re piling on, insulting and belittling is someone else behind a screen, someone who has feelings.

I don’t see why anyone would purely get online to bully people. Like a disagreement is one thing, I have had disagreements on here several times - but to get online and bully people for no reason other than them not acting like you or not having the same views, or even struggling with money or their relationship, is just showing that you’re a miserable cunt with a personality disorder.

There's a thread running at the moment in which the OP has discovered she has a phobia of sunflowers. Everyone is sympathetic with her plight. However, over the weekend, there was another thread in which a colleague of a different OP has a spider phobia and asked the manager to ask the hapless heroine if she'd consider removing her (frankly hideous) Zara spider brooch. Cue countless posts about what a snowflake the colleague is and how the OP should chuck spiders at this colleague.

Why I keep going to that hell site I'll never know.

Bluntness called someone a cunt for saying "I'll drop it off midmorning". Imagine if anyone else had done that.
That poster is awful. I don’t know how she gets away with some of the stuff she comes out with because she’s fucking awful. I don’t know if anyone remembers a thread about (something like) what partners do to annoy you, but hers was that her husband says ‘pork to rhyme with fork’. I mean, I don’t know how else you would say it?! It’s one of the Twitter account ‘Mumsnet Madness’ favourites to retweet.
