Pippa, Just Jordan, Robbie Keane all gone abroad at the mo just from my insta feed. I think terrified might be a strong word. I was worried about UK trends of socialising last month but their numbers are dropping. My eldest got his first vaccine yesterday in a walk in centre. Alot of his 16 year old friends following suite. At some stage normal life has to resume with as many precautions as one can manage.

I know so scary I know it sounds hypocritical I'm going myself but I'm not going with kids who at the best of times pick up everything. And if I have to test I'm not going coz knowing my luck I'll be positive. Wouldn't mind having to test here when u get back even at least your home. I certainly wouldn't be taking the chance with kids I'd be a nervous wreck

Oh I know I'd just be terrified of the testing if it was positive over there. Wouldn't mind as much here at least you are home

We thought about it as a family but decided not to risk getting stuck as it would affect school etc.

Fair play to anyone going abroad on hols.. if I could I would….a week in Spain is prob cheaper than a staycation here and you are guaranteed nice weather 😅 it’s a no brainer! Also international travel is actually open since the 19th of July so nobody is breaking any rules so what harm?

I hate that “it’s allowed so it’s ok” argument. There’s personal responsibility too. Common sense would say it’s unwise to travel with a young family. Especially as Michelle isn’t technically fully vaccinated yet

People can’t stay confined to Ireland forever.. I’m sure all the appropriate tests will be taken.. I wouldn’t begrudge anyone a holiday tbf.. time to start living again 🥳

Where did I begrudge? I just think people need to make decisions based on what is right / appropriate rather than allowed.

Then she isn’t fully vaccinated yet. It’s not just about 2 jabs. I can’t see why she didn’t wait a week until vaccine fully active

She could still pick up Covid on a staycation down in cork tbh… it’s possibly safer to travel abroad as they will all have to get pcr tests… life must go on ☺

Agreed. But getting home a nightmare if abroad

It's 2 weeks if you're going away regardless of what vaccine you got. Maybe it was booked mine is booked since Nov 2019 changed 3 times already..if we change again it will cost us more than we paid for the holiday and if we cancel we loose 2 grand.

😂😂 I am it's just the two of us and we are fully vaccinated but I think if I had kids with us or had to do tests I wouldn't go I'd be a nervous wreck

If they all under 12 kids won't have to be tested for ireland anyway

And a lot of other countries the same we have to normalise travelling again this is not normal life

Totally agree!! We followed all the rules, didn’t see family and still managed to catch covid earlier this year (children also). There is a risk no matter where you are and no matter what protections you put in place.

Exactly! Shaming people for getting on with their lives by going on holiday is getting old now.. it’s definitely reaching.

I’ve taken full advantage of my Covid cert, just don’t think I’d risk it with kids 🤷‍♀️
