Still doesn't mean you should block up a door completely like that.
And it just feels such an arse about tit way to get into the front room. Every house on EastEnders which has this same layout keeps the first door as the one in use, not the back room door. And keeps the door even if they have it open plan. And you can see the logic of that layout and way to use the doors.
Resale perspective would be best to keep the door. Because this isn't their forever home, they will want their own homes separately with partners in the future.

In addition to your points, why would anyone choose to use the 'library' door (and thereby disturb those reading or those who, perchance, may be midway through a piano recital) when there was a perfectly good door in the parlour?

I wonder if he even thought that this is a health and safety hazard. Losing the closest door to the exit makes no sense. The library would have looked nicer as a blocked room because it’s tiny. Anyway, the next owners will probably want to create an open plan layout so that door will need to be reopened.

I do not know why he got so many tattoos. One or two are okay but his arms are ruined. He can certainly never hide his working class background now.
I've just bought an Edwardian house with similar layout - previous owners knocked through between living room and dining room (good). They also left both doors (also good). Difference is, the husband was a builder and understood resale value.
He doesn't know himself. That's my opinion. No one snobby as that many tattoos. When you want to pretend you're rich, running in particular circles, these old money types don't do tattoos on that scale. The tattooed, gay, working class, geordie is who he truly is. But he so desperately wants to pretend he's got money, a different background, a posh accent, travelled, a master in interior design and food but he's not. He never will be.
But I don't mind tattoos. I just hate fake. And that's what he is. A walking contradiction..
