Why the big assumptions? I really couldn't care either way what anyone else thinks, the same as they shouldn't really bother what I think either - it's all open for discussion. I find all the different theories really interesting and it's enlightening hearing about medical terminology and procedures. Sometimes questions might sound stupid but if you don't work in that industry than you can't know until you ask. I'm not protesting anyone's innocence but trying to look objectively and see if other explanations are plausible.
I mean looking at your comments you seem to only have one plausible explanation. If you don’t care what anyone else thinks please stop replying to peoples comments that you disagree with.

I have gave reasons to why she could be innocent plenty of times. You seem to not be happy at anyone who suggests she is guilty but want to make sure you protest her innocence which makes you no difference to anyone declaring her guilty after 5 days..
I mean tbf isn’t the law innocent till proven guilty? So it is a bit different declaring her guilty after 5 days when (as these threads show) there are still many unanswered questions and a lot of unexplained things.

It’s a bit beggars belief to think any organisation would rather be seen to have actively done nothing to stop a nurse murdering/attempting to murder 22 babies than just admit they failed due to staffing etc. Yes the babies died either way but one is clearly much worse for your reputation than the other.

Well I could also suggest the same for you. I haven't suggested any one explanation at all, I just like to look at everything from different points of view and am totally open to what evidence may come to suggest either way. I'm not sure what particular problem you have with me but suggest you ignore my posts if you do not like the content of them.

Think that gets forgotten a lot!

I fully believe there are cover ups and scapegoating going on within the NHS. There will be in workplaces all over the country.

However, I do not believe for one minute the NHS would actively kill babies to cover up for what are relatively much more minor failings - still serious failings, but in comparison to murder of an innocent baby, minor - and then frame somebody for those murders.

Innocent until proven guilty, is not the same as refusing to listen to anyone else’s opinion of why she could be guilty. That is the point they are trying to prove it. Would you want someone on the Jury who believes there is no other explanation other than innocent? They would be no better than someone saying guilty no matter what

She is innocent until proven guilty, she hasn’t been sentenced. Doesn’t mean people aren’t entitled to BELIEVE she is guilty though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People didn’t have a good word to say about Sarah Everards killer before he was officially sentenced and no doubt every other killer there has ever been.

Asking you how you got to your conclusion is not having a problem with you🤣

No one is saying that she’s innocent ‘no matter what’ though, again, we’re 5 days into a 6 month trial and all we’ve heard is the opening statements and the opinion of 1 expert. I think it’s normal for people to still be on the fence and considering different possibilities at this point. I haven’t seen anyone insist she is fully innocent ‘no matter what’ yet though.

Picture the scene. A meeting. Fair amount of people in the room.

Right.. figures are looking awful. Loads of extra deaths and crashes here. We really don’t want to be seen as responsible. Any ideas guys?

Could we look at shift patterns? See if we could pin it on anyone.

bleeping great idea. Ok.. one… two.. nope she’s off there. Ok.. one.. two.. three… four.. five…six…seven..could be on to something here! Ah tit nope that doesn’t work either.

Check again.

By Jove! We’ve got someone..Letby was there for all of it!
Jesus that’ll be a hard sell.. isn’t she the one we stuck on all the posters to be the face of the unit?

Yeah but you’ll never believe our luck, not only was she there for all of it- she specifically requested to work with a lot of the babies that went on to die in similar ways! Including those impossible to dispute insulin poisonings! That helps hide our tracks eh. Aaaaand she’s said loads of creepy stuff like she didn’t think babies that were doing well would get out alive.
Bingo! Perfect. Fingers crossed she’s got a load of weird Facebook activity and a note at home with the words I’m evil I did it I killed them on purpose at home.
God yeah that’d really help wouldn’t it Dave.

Right, think we’ve got that all tied up Phew! We can get back to looking really fantastic now. Want anything from the canteen?

no it definitely wasn’t clear from the reporting who had raised a grievance against who. I think it just said she was going through a grievance with the nhs at the time.
if you were going through a grievance I would say it would be more than likely the employee that raised it, if it was her employers would it not have been term'd a disciplinary

If she’s not taking the stand in her defence, is it likely this note will ever be explained?
I would think it will be referred to in someway by the defence. It's too relevant to be ignored completely. I'm just not sure if it will be discussed in depth.

Please outline the benefits for the trust for allowing a serial killing nurse to flourish over accepting their own failures? Many many trusts are failing, many have to answer negligence cases against them. I wonder why more don’t go down the blaming a serial killer route? The trust are getting there arses handed to them over this. You’ve not answered whether you think the nhs conspired to poison babies via insulin to cover their tracks? Can I suggest if you think yes to that- you probably do lean on the wild conspiracy theory side of things ever so slightly 😅
There’s also the sheer volume of evidence in the case which would need to be consistent in how it points which would be exceptionally difficult to fudge at this sort of volume.

I also think the number of years that this case has been built across and how much time both the police and CPS have spent on it examining it would have brought up more questions if this was scape goating as having multiple people “in on it” would have created mistakes, mess and inconsistencies that they’d then have questioned or challenged. It just seems a real stretch that the CPS and the police would conspire to cover NHS failings which at worst would have put them on emergency measures and got the trust a slap on the wrist - yes there would potentially have been financial implications but a trial will cost exponentially more. There is no logic whatsoever to scapegoating In this scenario for me at all and I’ve tried to approach it from various angles.

Re: the grievance and the note.

I'm beginning to wonder if she raised a grievance around mismanagement/bullying/discrimination etc - and they came back at her with the murder accusations.

If she is innocent, and she raised complaints about how things were handled on the ward, best practice not being followed etc, or her being directed to do tasks outwit her allocated babies etc - you can imagine the sheer panic and terror when they 'retaliated' with those allegations. Just another viewpoint.
‘They’? Who do you mean by they? Staff suspected something and they called the Police in to investigate. That would happen in any company, say a financial organisation (or any workplace) where fraud or thief was suspected. The alleged culprit could be named etc but the Police would do their own investigation and evidence gathering. Then the CPS would evaluate all this. I think once the investigation was handed over to the Police it would be out of ‘their’ hands.

The sarcasm on this thread is really off-putting. Think I’ll stick to reading about the trial on my own.

Seems you can’t ruminate out loud on here without someone jumping down your throat about it. If I don’t like a certain poster’s stance, do you know what I do? I scroll by. You don’t need to bite and suggest they’re wild conspiracy theorists.

@avabella was a good contributor to other trial threads and I like that she thinks of all other possibilities. It’s a weird case and there’s only so much information to go by just now. I expect there’ll be much more by the end of the 6 months.

I found this statement by the NMC really interesting they made this in 2020. As soon as someone is up for fitness to practice the NMC do their own internal investigation and pose sanctions accordingly. Up until this point their investigation had shown no evidence… it was only when criminal charges were imposed, their outcome changed. Just thought it was interesting to add to the thread.
