He has to be given the opportunity to call his own witnesses (if he has any). The prosecution called theirs. They have to ensure a fair representation.
Oh I see. Its just I thought he had already done that?

We’ve only heard LL’s testimony from the defence, he hasn’t said yet whether he’ll call anyone else to dispute the prosecutions evidence (other medical experts). I think that’s what the couple of days next week will focus on, then they’ll give their closing speeches, judge will sum up and instruct the jury for their deliberations.
---
Closing speeches from the prosecution and defence are usually very powerful. The ones for Star’s trial took up a whole court session each iirc.

She’s enjoyed keeping Dr Noname dangling on that ‘will she won’t she’ divulge his compromised status hook all through the trial.
Now, she’s landed him gasping and floundering on the bank.
Good knife twist.
Sorry fella.

There was a poster who was asking whether she used the handover sheets to look up parents. Can't remember the poster but you were 100% correct.

Also, many of us were questioning why she looked up some parents in succession, like what connected them in her mind. BNE has asked the same question. Interesting response - that means she always knew which babies were dead/unwell - but thing is at the time they weren't considered to have been unwell (not until after the review) and LL herself told colleagues she didn't think anything odd or unusual was happening in the ward.....

Mr Johnson turns to the Facebook searches Letby made for parents of children in the indictment. Three searches are made for parents in quick succession. Mr Johnson asks what the link is.

Letby: "They are babies that have died and been seriously unwell."

Letby is asked about another series of searches for three parents' names.

LL: "They are babies that had something significant to them and they were on my mind."

Letby is asked why she didn't give that answer to the police.

LL: "Because I couldn't recall why I had looked at some of them."
That was me, I read somewhere that her defense say that she searched for many parents not involved in this case. I couldn't understand how she could remember so many names but it would be easy if you have a bag full of paperwork under your bed with them on.
This will be why op hummingbird is still ongoing and recently expanded to review the medical notes of every baby on every one of those sheets that she had.
The thought that there could be more victims is horrifying 😭

He did spend a while cross examining all of NJ's witnesses to try and cast doubt on their evidence. Hard to believe sometimes that LL is the only defence witness so far considering how long this has been going on.

She had to find a way to chuck him under the bus somehow ;)

That Facebook group pisses me off so much uno. Why are they so determined to prove her innocence. Most are men as well like she’s in jail she’s not gonna bag you

Ffs is this person actually still posting?

Also hey guys 👋 hope everyone is doing ok, I stopped following the trial closely as I’ve been doing exams and tbh I found it too upsetting and made me feel ill at times.
There’s no chance of me catching up fully on everything discussed over the last few threads, but from what I’m seeing it sounds like the prosecution have really tied her up in knots with the cross examinations and exposed her as a complete and utter liar. No doubt she will be found guilty.
Apologies if it has already been said, but does anyone know when the trial is set to finish roughly?

So she couldn't have used them so she could FB stalk the parents and target the babies of any that she didn't like. I thought that this could have been why she had them and also why op hummingbird is still ongoing and recently expanded to review the medical notes of every baby on every handover sheet.

snipped your post Craig just for relevancy(me being a late bleep). They could well do it at that unit, it's just not an official part of the form. I don't think this was a particularly big unit so they may well have had parents names on them so the staff could be 'closer' iyswim. Between my 4 premature babies we've been in 3 different hospitals, Certainly didn't happen at Edinburgh or Glasgow where my other babies were in nicu/scbu.

I'm dying to know how many other parents she searched up out with these babies. This is exactly what hummingbirds all about imo. Bet she didn't search up the healthy babies that left.

I know this a sad tangent, but I wonder if she cuddled babies when they needed comforting or just left then to cry in her sadistic ways like she would leave babies to self correct if sats were droppi times times all he wanted was a cuddle.
Again snipped for relevancy. I once walked into scbu and a nurse had both my babies tucked up into her. Girl twin was unsettled as she was ready to go home but not boy twin as he was a typically lazy boy so she got both out for a cuddle together. I remember that day like it was yesterday. To keep them together was absolutely heart warming.

We moved to this town the day I found out I was pregnant with twins. Our town of 8k had 132 people at this years twin/multiples day trip. One lady we met on the very first trip had one child with her, two of her triplets died in nicu (just extreme prematurity). Reading the triplets evidence just reminded me of her. Her wee boy will be 11ish now I think, how do you ever get over a natural death nevermind your two siblings....

Ah OK, sorry, I thought he had already put up experts for the defence. I didn't really start following closely till she took the stand!

Don't they have to go to their normal jobs on the days they aren't in court? Not done jury service so not sure
I've done jury service twice and been in different jobs during each one. I had to go back to my normal job if I wasn't required in court that day.

It's her and JJK that put the same profile pic up with LL in. It was early 2017 though

July was the last estimate the judge gave but there’s been a couple of small setbacks since then so 🤷🏼‍♀️ hope your exams were ok

They’ll be thinking if she gets off they’ll message her on FB like “u ok Lucy hun we was all behind u hunni xxxx” and LL will cream her Lee Cooper lounge suit and agree to go on a date to Matalan and Frankie and Bennys with them and they’ll live happily ever after.

How does the jury returning their verdict work? Do you get much warning? How long is it likely to take? I live miles away so I don't know if it's possible logistically but I would go to watch the verdict-it's crazy to travel all that way again for what I assume is a very short time just finding her guilty or not but I would so do it to witness history and see one of the country's most evil women go down for her crimes. I don't suppose I'd be able to get there in time for it though unless I literally stayed over in Manchester for days which I'm not doing!

Same but I’m not going to try and make the journey for it as it’s far and I feel like court will be full that day, even with just press
