Jesus, I wonder how many trials the jury argue over the verdict at the end.

We argued at ours, resulting in one juror walking out at one point although she did return but stormed out after our final moment in court. We didn’t reach a verdict and the CPS didn’t push for a retrial.

Spoiler: jury duty waffle

We couldn’t reach a verdict after 3 days of deliberations as some of the jury thought the good looking guy on trial couldn’t possibly be guilty of the grape on the girl he was accused of. Especially because she admitted being drunk. Even though he literally said “I pushed her to the floor, ripped her tights, entered and waited for her to object. She didn’t so I carried on”. We heard days of evidence of the impact it had on her. But a few of the jury blamed her. I still think about the victim today and how it must have affected her to go through that and then feel like she wasn’t believed because she was. You get such a broad mix of people on a jury and everyone reaches different conclusions even though you’re all hearing the same thing. I imagine there will already be people on the LL jury with a strong opinion both ways

Crikey!! I’m just thinking if i was another nurse and was confident she did it I would remove all pics with her. I have seen Ellis and Taylor they obviously believe she did it so I wonder if any of their other colleagues believe it.

It must be a really strange dynamic if some of her colleagues believe the allegations and others don't. It's got to be so surreal for them, the whole thing. If Lucy is innocent it's sad to see her looking so happy in those photos knowing that her life's going to be totally wrecked. Obviously the sympathy doesn't apply if she's guilty!

I assume everyone sees these things in the eyes but then I'm always amazed when people say "Ted Bundy didn't look like a serial killer" I'm like are you kidding? He looks like a textbook psycho to me in some of those photos. I understand he was "handsome and charming" but he looks evil. So it's not about looks per se but the personality coming through if that makes sense.

I never saw 'handsome and charming' with Ted Bundy either. The guy's eyes are totally flat. No empathy. I guess you could argue that we know he's a serial killer so that affects the way we 'read' his face, if that makes sense.

Ah that is awful! I guess it is good that you get such a mix of personalities on Jury, but I bet theres some absolute fruit loops who have been on jury duty before.

I was thinking about the same thing, especially if there is any nurses still working and there is a divide between innocent and guilty. I keep thinking about the nurse who updated her profile pic was Lucy in 2017. Lucy must have have had her support.

Jury service was an eye opener for me. Mine was an arson endangering life. There was loads of debate in the jurors room and lots of flip flopping and exchanging of ideas. It was a mistrial in the end, due to the prosecution sharing racist material in court.. We were half a day from deliberation .

I expect the jurors room will sound rather like here, with a similar split and wild theories and personal stories.

Very interesting to hear your jury experiences! Heartbreaking about the grape case, a lot of people will always place the blame on the victim in those incidences, even if the victim was the very definition of purity and innocence.

My only experience was I was called for jury duty and made the cut to the jury bench but was able to get myself removed thankfully from what would have been a really harrowing case.

An adult victim of child abuse had brought her abuser to trial. Obviously with my background I couldn't trust myself to be objective! But I remember standing in the crowd with all these other jury candidates (before the final 12 were selected) and this man was walking through the crowd, pushing past people, trying to get a good view of everyone. I remember because he walked and pushed WAY to close to me and I just got chills from him. Turns out he was the bloody defendant!!! I remember when I found out being so shocked that he was just allowed to walk around through us like that!!

Basically we had a witness who shared a name with a Disney character and he and the defendant were laughing over cartoons of him and possibly at his accent. It was just after first covid lockdown so the jury was spread out on desks behind screens and he forgot and half the jurors saw it.. Very silly man.

I’ve found both the nurse/colleague witnesses FB’s… (I’m pretty good at this! Not sure it’s something to be proud of…)
The latter of the two, has loads of public pictures of LL.
As PP’s have said; she looks so ‘normal’. So basic, so ‘plain Jane’.
It will be interesting to hear if we get any more background information about LL’s character…
I watched the documentary on Beverly Allitt earlier today, and they talked a lot about her character and past. Patiently waiting l to hear if we get the same insight with this case…

I think her colleagues having her photo on their facebook still is weird, if it was me I would be deleting everything that associated me with her and for sure if I thought she was guilty. So are they backing her and think she’s innocent ?
If so I would love to ask them what they thought happened to the poor babies that were murdered/ harmed.

I’d like to hear from her senior who she repeatedly ignored. I wonder if this was a common trait for her.. Doing what she wanted. I get the impression she thought she was way above her level. Remember her ‘trust me I’m a nurse comment’? There just seems to be an air of arrogance about her.

That is why I think the comment on her note ‘not good enough to care for them’ makes sense if she was annoyed she wasn’t allowed to look after certain babies

aaah I don’t think so, as it’s part of the entertainment package I think! Like you can get a free trial with now tv hayu i think it’s called, but not a free trial with anything worth watching . Do you have a friend or family member who has an account you could borrow for a couple of days that’s what I did ! X
