I was on the tram today into town and my route goes past the Crown court building and i just deeped that that is where LL, the victims families and all the witnesses have been for the past few weeks…. I got shivers.

everything that has went on in there - we’ve all discussed on this thread. Idk it just made me feel really weird even tho I’ve went past the building so many times before this case

Off topic I suppose, but since we are talking about Beverley Allitt...

When I was doing my training (trained in sick kids, went into neonates) we were made to watch the BA documentary in uni one day It has stayed with me throughout my career and 100% shaped how I practice as a nurse.

In any field of nursing, there has to be a level of trust with your colleagues and within the team as a whole. But the rules around things like second checking, who is responsible for the drug keys, etc. NEVER slips. These rules are in place for a reason, and you can never fully trust another when it comes to the lives of the most vulnerable.

Luckily, I am part of a team who abides by the rules religiously, and no one takes offence if, for example, one of us wants a third checker in the mix. But I have worked on wards where rules were slack and the level of trust was foolish (pulling meds alone, drug trolleys left unlocked, computers left logged in, keys lying around).

I can't get my head around her saying in interview she doesn't remember!!
I can't get my head around the searching on Xmas day and anniversaries and so soon after the deaths
The odd Facebook search/snoop is obviously open for debate ...but just can't understand why she didn't admit it when questioned...cos surely she would know she would be found out as a liar???
I'm shocked that the solicitor at the time didn't advise her to be honest and just admit it!! First interview, maybe could use rhe argument that she panicked and didn't want to admit it...but to lie multiple times I don't get, and again to me it's becoming part of the picture, whether she searched other families or not

I know what you mean because she is now caught out telling a few little lies so it would make me question what she is actually telling the truth about.

Exactly!! Surely her solicitor at the time would have said tell the truth ( after all she appears to have looked other families up too?)
Maybe showed to him/her too? Maybe she believes her own " truth"??
She does appear to have told a few porkies along the way....which I know don't make her guilty....but don't do her any favours either!!

I was a juror on a serious grape trial where the verdict was obviously guilty (video evidence) and a couple of people still weren't 100% convinced even after directions from the judge. I was the foreperson and said I wasn't leaving the room till everyone agreed with me and said I was happy to sit and argue with them for the rest of my life. The defence were way more aggressive (questioning the sexual proclivities of the victims etc) than even my very low expectations anticipated too. Really eye opening. Left the room with a unanimous guilty verdict though. I'd have been very upset (and mortified) to have read out loads of "not guilty" that day.

I'd like to ask about how the questioning works. Say I was accused of a crime I hadn't committed, and asked about events that had taken place months ago, I probably wouldn't be able to remember unless they were really significant. But I may begin to recall these events as I thought about them, either during the interview or afterwards.

Would it look suspicious if I said "the question you asked me, about whether I searched FB for the people LL texted? I remember now, yes I did. I think I searched just the once."

I wonder if it would appear as if I had something to hide, whereas the truth is I have a lousy memory! Can the police tell the difference? Obviously I wouldn't lie the first time I was asked, probably say I didn't remember or I wasn't sure.

She says she can’t remember but surely it was better to just say she was nosey. She obviously remembered many peoples names. Why do you think she had colleagues names written down? X

Definitely would have been better to say that..it baffles me!
And I really have no clue....I doubt she will take the stand...so we will never know?

So I look at it this way....well, firstly her solicitor will have been given " disclosure" prior to interview and if that came up I would have imagined he or she would have asked her if she had and surely would have advised her to be truthful!
The police may have kept it up their sleeve and not disclosed it ( not quite sure how.much they do give away to solicitor to be honest.)
She will have been interviewed so many times so I would have thought that early on her solicitor would have said just be honest..cos the Facebook stuff comes up so much! This is why I don't believe she has been truthful with solicitor or herself??
Personally...I think the fact she's clearly lied all the way through looks much worse?

I think so too....either way she'll prob mess up!
I've only ever worked in the actual custody system ( as a nurse) so know basics of how interview procedures go etc, but beyond that I'm lost and waiting to see what's coming

I just think if he had anything decent it would have been said by now? Like he seems to just try discredit others. It feels like he is just saying ‘she didn’t do it.’ I think if there was anything where a baby had died same circumstances whilst she wasn’t there then it would have been said because surely that would throw the whole case off and we wouldn’t even be here.

I think it was strange choice of words when he said in his statement about a woman who says she didn’t do it. Wouldn’t most killers say they didn’t do it

Exactly....so far, it's as if he's just going through the motions?
Suppose a lot is going to depend on what witnesses he has and what they have to say?
I don't suppose a " good mate" of hers who doesn't believe she's done it will have a lot of impact!
As for if he has any expert witnesses who can realistically argue the cause of death in these earlier cases...I don't know?
But...further down the line, with the insulin and the poor babies who weren't quite as " vulnerable " as baby C then he's gonna have a job on? LL even accepted herself that the ones injected with insulin would cause the deaths....so if not her then who the hell is it??

I think Lucy would have been closely observed during her police interviews by experts to try and work her out?
I imagine they will make a documentary about her if she is guilty.

Oh I agree ....without question..they will have studied every answer and her every move!!

I’m also assuming they wouldn’t have had access to her Facebook until she was arrested so it makes sense that they didn’t charge her the first time.
