Ok I think I'm just about there - dear me I used to be better than this!!

Anyway, this is an interesting comment on the post:

God this is a headfuck case, she looks so ... kind.
She has said and done questionable things and even if with the knowledge we have it seems suspicious, yet I'm still entirely open to the fact she's just awkward.
You know those people who are susceptible to other people's little quirks or phrases, she could be texting trying to be like the older colleagues she's friends with have spoken to her, but because she's not older it seems patronising, as where an older lady would seem motherly saying "you did so so well".

I have been thinking about other women who have shocked people, Vanessa George, nursery nurse who abused babies in her care, there's a woman from St Helens who was abusing children in the worst possible ways etc, looks are really bleeping deceiving, I know that, but she doesn't give me vibes of anything.

I'm still thinking she's guilty, it just wrecks my head, normal family, social, career driven, had a nice place to live, nothing is giving me "defo a psycho" vibe and it's actually pissing me right off.

She looks painfully normal and boring to me tbh. Type of person who would drive a fiat 500, shop in peacocks and find shows The Big Bang Theory and Friends funny. Basically not the type of nut job who gets their kicks out of killing babies.
If she goes down for this then she’s the absolute poster girl for ‘looks can be deceiving’

Didn’t people really like David Fuller too? He killed two woman and abused 100s of women in a morgue. People were said to be in disbelief when he was arrested too.

I’ve found this case incredibly upsetting but I’m certain the evidence against her is saying she is guilty. It would have been so difficult for her colleagues to raise the alarm against a fellow nurse and there was more than one who was concerned about her involvement

I do feel like some serial killers do have a certain look about them, that LL doesn’t have.

One particularly that springs to mind is the awful James Bulger case - even when Jon Venables (one of the killers) was a child, he had this dark look in his eyes. It’s so harrowing and sad really, but I do believe those boys must’ve had f__ed up home lives to do such a thing

I always thought his eyes looked dead. Like he had no soul

I can't help but feel it's a but unfair and puts her at a disadvantage but I'm sure if that's was the reality it wouldn't be allowed.

It's OK, I noticed people were having thoughts about it so thought I'd drop it in,

It looks unfair, but it does even out in end.
Its a lot of red tape and outdated faff in some situations, but the jury are stuck there until the last argument. I really do feel for them on this one.

Yeh I see that too (and I always believed it was more his idea especially since he was the one holding poor James' hand whilst the other walked ahead)-I assume everyone sees these things in the eyes but then I'm always amazed when people say "Ted Bundy didn't look like a serial killer" I'm like are you kidding? He looks like a textbook psycho to me in some of those photos. I understand he was "handsome and charming" but he looks evil. So it's not about looks per se but the personality coming through if that makes sense. Same with the guy suspected of killing Suzy Lamplugh. I have noticed Lucy looks a bit OTT with the smiling, like really happy, but it's probably usual for bubbly young women to do that (I've never been much of a smiler!) just an observation. Sounds like she wasn't very happy at work though when she wasn't getting what she wanted...

Her dad's very tall isn't he? I saw a couple photos of her parents and he towered over her mother. I didn't realise LL was that tall, another photo of her arriving with her mother to the police station she was only a little taller than her mum. But maybe she is tall too and her dad is like 6'5 or something.
Anyone know her actual height? I'm only focusing on that because parents could perhaps pinpoint her and remember her easier if she's unusually tall. Otherwise it might be hard to remember a regular mid 20s nurse and what she said/did on a ward full of young nurses.

‘Beyond a reasonable doubt’ so does that mean if you have 1% of a doubt you have to go not guilty or can you have 40% doubts and still go guilty? Like how do you define a doubt because surely the juries opinions will differ due to your own personal standards

from what i understand, it’s not a quantifiable concept - which makes sense, i couldn’t accurately say what “percent” i agree or disagree with the prosecution’s case, for example.

instead the jury are supposed to consider the case as a whole and ask themselves whether they can, beyond reasonable doubt, conclude that she is guilty of the charges brought against her. to decide reasonable doubt, the court attempt to make this an objective standard by saying that it’s a doubt which is reasonable (i.e., can’t be too onerous) and a reasonable person (whatever that means!) would hold the same doubt if they were in the jury’s position.

There’s actually no guidance on it, it’s just ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ whatever the duck that means lol. BUT in a criminal court the burden of proof is very high, you are literally potentially depriving someone of their liberty by sending them to prison if found guilty, you’re literally taking away a human right. And in this case in particular, you are deciding on whether to send a young woman to prison for the rest of her life or not (depending on if she’s successful in an appeal or not), so I’m pretty sure usually the judge reminds the jury that they can only vote guilty if they are absolutely sure.

Butting in here, soz. In a jury with 12, there has to be 10 with the same verdict. If only one says not guilty, the verdict would be guilty. If three say not guilty it could go to a retrial (can you imagine ‍).

And I’m sure I’ve heard / read that sometimes a judge might accept a majority verdict?
