Ah thank you girls. I get a bit panicked when we switch seasons because whilst I love jumpers etc all the layers seem to drown me and I worry I look dumpy.

Spoiler: The sleep thing

I have circadian rhythm sleep disorder, delayed sleep phase type, also known as delayed sleep phase disorder so my body (suprachiasmatic nucleus, to be specific) says 1:30-2:30am is when I should fall asleep. But then I also have to get up before my SCN's normal 10-11am wake time because capitalism, so... yeah. I quit my job a couple years ago and took 18 months off in part because of this.

I've tried all the things - sleep drugs (benzos), 4 different doses of melatonin, immaculate sleep hygiene (ie, zero screen time after 8pm, etc) and none of that helped. It's gotten a smidge better with light therapy but the teams of specialists I've seen at two separate research hospitals both said to just keep doing I'm doing, just do it better - be more consistent. And that's hard because it means I have to get up earlier so I have time to sit around with special glasses that shine light directly into my eyeballs. Also, obviously the lisdexamfetamine is a godsend, for energy in addition to executive function.

Sorry if I'm over explaining this, a lot of people think it's bullshit and I have a lot of trauma in general about people not listening to me or believing me.

Spoiler: The date thing

So when I say it's a date I mean it's meeting a dude for coffee to see if we want to go back to his place and have sex. We've been texting occasionally for about a year, I guess.

I haven't been on a first date/meeting/sexual encounter since like... just over a year ago? And I haven't had any kind of intimate encounter (lol) like not even kissing since December. The social anxiety and self-loathing has been off the charts.

I'm gonna try not to cancel it and just see how it goes - I don't have a big crush on him so if it doesn't work out or he's a terrible kisser or a creep, then it's fine. I'd rather just get back in the saddle again. Get my groove back.

And I'm about to get back into Big Flirts. Loved all the banter at the restaurant, the new relationship energy was so palpable... Sigh, I miss that.
