I don't think she is ready to go back to work personally. If indeed a Dr signed her off with ill health and it was a bad as it seemed you don't bounce pack after a couple of weeks. I know there bills to pay and all that but she should have sorted something to allow her this time off too get well.She is going to blame not finishing it on her mental health being too fragile, isn't she? Spot on- I have been lurking but her speaking at a housing conference has riled me. I too work in the industry at a senior level. I have met so many people who have the lived experience of unsecure housing and food poverty whose voice should be heard. To join you have to have a professional qualification in housing management. Most, if not all members are part of the social housing sector.
I am a member, and have kept up with my membership even though I retired on ill health ages ago. I love and have a passion for social housing provision. I have many friends working in the housing field, from housing officers up to director level in many Housing Associations.
Most of those attendees (and I know quite a few of them) are middle class, educated, highly professional and in very secure jobs. Many have never, and will never, require the service they provide. And that is where R Jackie fits the bill, she fits their assumption of what a poor person is. She is the acceptable face of poverty, articulate and not afraid to talk about her time in "poverty". However she will ingratiate herself with those attendees, not rocking the boat too muc. She wants return gigs. She isn't too confrontational, though she pretends to be all bolshi on Twitter. Full disclosure, I have seen her speak at conference, and she is not what she makes out she is.

Surely using ones that have already been published runs the risk of plagiarism? And who would want to buy a book that's a rehash of stuff from the guardian that was better written than the rubbish in the book.
