Ive said so many times and I stand by it - I think SB is with his Dad more than her. She has shown she is manic and unstable, not a chance can she be the primary carer. (Just my opinion and speculation jackie)
I agree. I've said before that this is almost certainly why she hasn't moved from Southend.
Moving in with Louisa makes more sense than Louisa moving in with her. Between them they would have been paying rent and mortgage. Why not move into the owned property and save over a grand a month in rent?
When the Edinburgh debacle happened she replied to some tweets that she couldn't move there because she couldn't make SB leave his dad. That doesn't make sense. Plenty of people don't live local to their co-parent, you just have to do a bit more planning and spend a bit on travel.
If she had majority custody she could legitimately move to a 'better' area if her child would benefit. His opportunities are better in Edinburgh or a trendy part of London (nothing personal Southend but by Jack's own admission she hates living there!!!) and Jack has said she would have a better standard of life in Edinburgh.
She says its because she has to be near the dad, implying she's doing the decent thing by sacrificing her own happiness so her kid can see his dad.
Personally I think it is the other way round. Dad (stable, happy, 2 parent home, possibly with siblings. Regularly fed properly, doesn't have to buy his own sausages, not CONTINUALLY referred to on SM and can read whatever books he wants to) has full/majority custody and is resident parent. She has to stay near otherwise she wouldn't get to see the kid.

Just an opinion m'lud

This really really fucks me off when she asks permission to leave and/or announces she's leaving. NOONE ELSE DOES THAT.

It infuriates me! Just put your phone down Jack you loon!
As the saying goes
its not an airport, departures do not have to announced

I too, would love to know what work she’s been doing with families over the last few years in relation to poverty and cooking.

Anyone know what she’s referring to?

..stories, indeed.
Jackanory, tell us a story.
So here it is. I honestly don’t know where to start.
I can't even read all that. I tried, but it's just all about her again and I just haven't got the stomach for any more of her bullshit.

I got to the part where she calls her bungalow "modest" once again after banging on about only renting and not being able to get a mortgage and I could feel my blood pressure rising so had to close the page down. She is just so bleeping entitled and ungrateful and clueless, I just can't.

I'm not going to do a Jack and start pouring out my whole life story here, but I was brought up middle class like Jack, but ever since I left home at 16 I have been predominantly skint, or just getting by, I have always rented, have had a period of homelessness where I lived on the street, then years of severe MH problems that meant I was unable to work. I had no family to offer help. I'm now 41. It's only the last three years I have had a truly quite decent job that pays above minimum wage. I will never own my own house unless I win the lottery. She is sickening in her posing as still being hard up and how hard done by she is because she has to rent. Get a proper bleeping job, stop buying overpriced bollocks you don't need and stop bleeping moaning. There are people who have NOTHING and your bullshit does not help them.

I honestly wish she would just go far far away and not come back.

It’s like Sliding Doors. One version is Jack confidently key mashing the nokia and brazenly handing that in, the other version is Dickensian Jack in the corner silently typing up her notebooks and people stepping over her.
I imagine her in full nightgown, nightcap and slippers surrounded by a solitary candle.

Another lapsed Jack fan here. I've been lurking and (trying to) catch up on these threads for a couple of weeks and my eyes have been opened. I first heard about her when she did the original Guardian article about living on £10 a week. I was a broke student and I actually found her early recipes really useful and had no reason to doubt her story. I relied heavily on her first book and actually quite liked the peach curry for a time (sorry fraus). I even bought it for other people who I knew were struggling.

I started to feel uncomfortable when she came out as trans and then changed her mind. Then came the seemingly endless stream of ailments and problems. Then when I realised she seemed to have lost fiance #3 I Googled her and ended up here.

In my defence, I don't use Twitter and only ever saw her Instagram posts so I didn't get the full picture of how awful and rude she is to people and to be honest I'm a little embarrassed at how complimentary I've been of her in the past.
Welcome to the Cabal.

Your sins are forgiven. Most of us have seen the light and repented our ways. You will do well here x

Also, has she not banged on about handwriting her first book, trying to hand it in but had to go sit and type it out in a library/coffee shop/similar?
I’m sure the quote was by candlelight (had no money to top up her ‘leccy’), using a quill 😂

She's really narked about that article that posted photos of her fancy house isn't she? 😂 Trying to explain it away by claiming it was mostly photos of the same room but she just likes to move furniture around a lot 😂

Although, I guess when you do regularly have Smeg fridges and expensive sideboards arriving that need squeezing in... Maybe... she's not lying (sit down for now Jimmy). 🤔
I had no idea what that article was, but a quick google found it. A couple of photo's I'd not seen before.

I wish my house was crappy enough to have a full size christmas tree in the entrance hall.

I'm gonna repurpose a previous thread title suggestion that I made:

55: Just what *is* your story, Jackanackanory?

Has anyone read Lowborn by Kerry Hudson? It's an excellent (but very harrowing in places) book by someone who really did grow up in poverty and has made good. I really recommend it.

I am HOOTING at her insinuation that she doesn't have multiple rooms in her crappy bungalow, it's actually because she shifts the furniture round all the time. And in what world is a 3-bedroom dormer bungalow modest?? It's a standard, rather nice middle class situation - but Jack is making it sound simultaneously like a palace (37 TIMES MY SALARY *HOOOOOOWL*) and a hovel.

<insert sure jan gif here>

.... and then everyone burst into spontaneous applause. The red arrows did a flyover, angels sang hymns of praise and showered her with fairy dust and dancing pixies!
Also, why is everyone also whispering in her ear?

I haven't read all the posts so sorry if I'm repeating - it's just that this jumped out at me too. Oh no, Jack you lived in a place with ... nice wooden floorboards? THE HORROR.

I just want to say, too, about her OBSESSION with owning a house - she acts as though once she does actually manage to be a property owner, that means a 'forever home' and complete financial security. You still have to pay the mortgage, Jack! (Unless of course in her world being a property owner means owning something outright, which would actually explain a LOT). If you don't pay the bank every month they can still take it away from you (and she should know most people are about a couple of months of bad luck away from this happening). This is actually even more terrifying than getting chucked out a rental place because you can lose everything.
she reminds me of the MC friends I had a uni who would moan on and on about how terrible renting was and how home ownership was forever out of their reach and that’s why they were socialists and then one day at 25 their parents would pay a deposit (having also paid their tuition fees, natch) and set them up in a lovely townhouse and it was never spoken of again

speculation here your honour, but I have no doubt her family would help her with a deposit once she had settled down, but the point is she hasn’t settled down yet!

also with Help to Buy she could probably Put down a deposit on a nice little flat in Southend with the money she got from DKL and Hellman’s.

Just read part of the way through Price of Potatoes but had to stop through sheer anger. I couldn't read anymore after her description of discovering poverty porn pays well. £250 for an article about how tit her Christmas is gonna be. She's been making money from her sob story ever since. Doesn't give a tit about the poor, just makes money from the issue. Her father was a lowly fireman? duck off! Working in the fire service is a professional job which is decently paid. She certainly was not brought up disadvantaged.

Also, southend is near her family and they may well own the bungalow? Maybe she doesn’t even pay rent? Or maybe minimal rent. Having been to Edinburgh I got the Impression it wasn’t Cheap
