To be fair, this advice is weird as fuck. Never seen anyone in Galicia remove the stalks before frying them, and I spent years living a few km from Padrón itself.
I think she's talking about a very err, middle class living wage.Credit where it’s due, this is the first thing I’ve seen her make that is actually edible. Has she not got a Nutribullet to pulverise her dishes with anymore?
She is super cringey thoughPraying for our Partridge-esque documentary to be relocated to Greece as she ~rediscovers her roots, she’s not just a rich girl from Southend after all - there’s so much more :’)
Genuine question because I don’t know, I’d suspect a last minute spontaneous holiday on that sleeper train is quite the expense and (shamefully for this country tbh) not accessible for someone actually on the living wage? Am I being unfair?
Went to a northern uni and I remember booking my tickets home (London) at the start of my 10 week term and still struggling cos even 2 months ahead the best prices were £50 minimum, and I was earning above minimum wage with loans & grants.
Oh yes, just noticed that! How random...it's almost as if she was...searching it out?!She dug up someones random old tweet from 2016 by the way just so she could faux-answer this question and do this rant about how she is POOR.
I didn’t want to say this cos I was scared of starting a ruckus over identity politics but omg YES, thisHer dad's not even Greek-born, is he? It's her grandparents? So she's 3rd gen 'Greek'? This is like me specialising in Polish recipes because my Grandpa was Polish and made a mean borscht.
Her trainers are grotty but the DKL ones are that Nike bubble sole they start from £120. Which again I find bizarre as she really can’t dress but spends a lot on some really bad items.QUICK, hide the Vivs and shove that fucking Emin behind one of the Cotswold Co Sideboards

Jack does not earn a living wage, she states she pays herself a living wage. So anything earned above that is still there if needed. BIG difference!
Jack is not being perceived as wealthy because she wrote some booksPeople who have been 'shit poor' and only now earning a living wage generally (from my experience of surrounding friends and family) don't possess Tracey Emin art, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry clothing, Groucho Club membership, various Dyson appliances, multiple phones and airpods, Smeg appliances, a water rower, more sideboards than a Cotswold Company showroom, etc. Nor can they pay out over £1,000 on a poorly pet at the drop of a hat.
Most people on a living wage would not be able to afford any of the above, let alone being able to pay the rent on a 3 bed detached bungalow by themselves.
I haven't looked but I'm guessing her trainers are 'fancy' as well?
Tbf cheap compared to a Vivienne Westwood (ripI didn’t want to say this cos I was scared of starting a ruckus over identity politics but omg YES, thisIdentity is a wild rollercoaster but like most my 2nd gen friends who’d spend school summer holidays in their respective ~motherlands it was a weirdly disillusioning experience where you are aware you’re other than. I certainly would never have felt the confidence to say this is home, because it’s not...
Can’t articulate it but there’s definitely something uncomfortable about suddenly embracing a previously disregarded/unacknowledged identity and dramatically calling it home at 2am on Twitter. Feels a bit like a geographical (when people go abroad thinking it’ll fix their problems but turns out they’re the problem?) at best or just savvy on the pulse bandwagoning...

She's flailing around trying to make content, hoping some things will stick and she'll stay relevant. When the food conversation dries up she rallies the troops by tweeting out for suggestions about one of her ailments or makes a cOnTrOvErSiAl statement. This is seriously about her 6th book pitch in the past couple of months. She even says she's got 2 contracted to do already. Why is she pissing about with new ~ideas~ instead of getting on with writing them?
I think this is all part of being single again. Her personality seems to change around different people so now she has to move on again and is embracing being Greek? But regardless I am sure none of these books has been commissioned. Especially not that political/blm one she is claimingShe's flailing around trying to make content, hoping some things will stick and she'll stay relevant. When the food conversation dries up she rallies the troops by tweeting out for suggestions about one of her ailments or makes a cOnTrOvErSiAl statement.
I agree with those who have said the Greek munch looks edible but the Co Op sells all that exact stuff in little pots for lunch. I'm not saying that's where she got it, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised
Yes and I think, fittingly, she was nominated for the Groucho <insert Tom Cruise putting on sunglasses gif> Award. Not sticking up for her by any means, but I seem to remember the Groucho club membership being part of an award.
This is going to sound so mean girls but where that dress was so ghastly & cheap looking I strongly suspect it was probably from her diffusion line Anglomania, so would have “only” been £2/300 at full RRP. Also last season diffusion lines, especially for dresses that ugly, often end up heavily discounted too so she may have got a total bargain with it. Still not something I’d expect is affordable for many on the living wage but not as ~fancy as she’d hoped for with the name dropTbf cheap compared to a Vivienne Westwood (rip) dress ?
Ah is that The Maverick award? I read that as she was a nominee and not a winner. The winner gets £10,000 as well as lifetime membership. Happy to stand corrected if I've got it wrong though, it's earlyNot sticking up for her by any means, but I seem to remember the Groucho club membership being part of an award.
She only seems to mention him in regards to herself. If he has acieved something it is of course down to her fabulous parenting. Or if she is preaching about parenting she will bring him up in the context of "I have a son i.e. I know everything there is to know about bringing up a child" Like her adopted brother is only mentioned when she is the expert on race issues. People are just props in the never ending shit show of her life. That mumsnet thread is beautifully brutal.
re her kid. I don’t think it’s a case (here), that she’s damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. I’ve felt it is pretty much unanimous, on here, that nobody blames her for not showing her kid. My own opinion is that she’s very much doing the right thing in that regard.
The big but is that she uses “misty eyed rhetoric”, with him front and centre, when it suits her. I would personally prefer if she didn’t mention him in that way at all. Being a poor and struggling SINGLE MOTHER is her entire USP, so it’s always about him even when he’s not mentioned. What I really really reallyyyyy don’t like, is how much she moans about having nothing good in her life, everything is shit, she’s got no reason to get up in the morning, she’s howling in the bath, on Twitter 18 hours a day. She neglects to mention her son in the context of having a purpose in life or having a direction or happiness or whatever. It’s that sort of thing that pisses me off in regards to her son, it’s not the fact that she barely mentions him.
But she is NOT earning the living wage that is a LIE. She pays herself the living wage and the rest is saved and / or paid as dividendsView attachment 189934
