This is a very immediate onset; especially so soon after going to a gig last night without any hint of illness.
Before I tested positive, I spent the weekend at my boyfriend's, including cycling the ten miles there and back, feeling completely fine. Then I woke up on the Monday morning, headache and sore throat, thought "hmm, I wonder?" did a test and a really strong positive red line showed up as soon as the fluid hit that part of the test, no need to wait the 20 minutes.

The only symptom I had prior to that was an elevated sleeping heart rate, it's normally between 45 and 55 BPM, the two nights before I tested positive it was 65bpm.

Conveniently ill again. "I've got commitments next week that I'd like to get out of. So I am laying a trail."

Also, 'huge speaking/work bit' = doing a share at AA. Speaking to three therapists on speed dial.
Shouting in the aisle as Asda?

I met the queen once. I mean she was a few people away, cos it was a garden party, but technically I was invited (like the hundreds of others there).
I feel that’s what Jack means. Maybe there on own steam, maybe as a plus one to Leggy or LJC.
Definitely not an ‘audience with’ kind of situation anyway - I mean, imagine. Staff having conniptions at her putting her grubby boots on the sofas.
I'd like to know who hasn't actually met the Queen. #silentminority

Admittedly I did stockpile LFTs by collecting a pack every week from Uni (as advised) and my eldest from secondary school (as advised) due to the fact that there are 4 of us in the house, I’m a lone parent, I WORK, kids are Plague Monsters, and my childcare won’t allow my kids to go without a negative LFT if they have any symptoms. The cost of that through winter would be astronomical for me, alongside trying to actually collect the tests between work/study/childcare or school runs. I’m also still fucked by long Covid.

So Jack, how much you been spending on them? Cos we all know SB doesn’t live with you, so not via that, and you don’t WORK so can’t have been getting them free from a work place.

All this galavanting around she does makes me feel like I’m single parenting wrong. Why does she have all this free time but I don’t? I know it’s because he doesn’t live with her, but other single mothers won’t know that. It also makes a mockery of how little free time actual single mothers have in reality.

Does it say 'My mate Alan'? He looks like an Alan. Or a Steve.
I thought maybe a Barry or a Kevin! OT but a friend had a baby a few weeks ago and called him Kevin. I thought she was joking as we'd been laughing about people giving babies middle aged names like Keith or Neil a few weeks before. Turns out she wasn't joking and her son is called Kevin. Oops.

I for one am enjoying the photoshops.

There’s enough mawkish shite on every media platform and will be for weeks and weeks.

Need some joviality here, and how inexplicably kind of Jack to provide it.
I would pay five pounds to have a Queen-free version of the internet for the next month. (No strong feelings, I just don't care very much either way)

Keeping it on topic-ish, I'm pretty sure I've had covid but never tested positive for it. Went into the office for my mandated day, sat next to someone sniffling and sneezing all day, then stayed away for 2 weeks as I didn't want to spread it any further. I had hoped the greater awareness of how respiratory viruses spread might encourage people to be more thoughtful about wfh or taking sick leave when showing symptoms but apparently not :|

I have puzzled dimly over this for a bit. What has SB's 'massive' school got to do with her possibly having covid? She's been on public transport to Bristol, and on a plane to Dublin. Meeting many people. SB is her one point of contact with the massive school.
Not explaining it well - but I don't get her logic.

So that if she does in fact have covid, she can blame it on the one night a week he stays with her?

So she went out when she already felt sick?
Inconsiderate fucker, assuming she actually is sick.
Because of people like Jack who continue to go out and about with covid symptoms without even bothering to wear a mask, those who actually are vulnerable no longer go to concerts. She really is a selfish little cow.

I've never met her but I did once have a dream where she appeared in my old work and joined me in bitching about a particularly insufferable boss.

It's going round. (Not-Covid-Lurgie) Daughter (🔺) brought it back from Reading fest with her. Gave it to us as a souvenir. Glad she threw it Jack's way too. Makes me feel a bit better about it. Generally, I call it 'Septemberitis' though. Very common once the schools go back. She should know that, being a parent (of sorts), an' all.

I see it as her way of shoehorning in that he goes to a school that in her snobby mind she would consider a working class school, so a comprehensive or academy rather than a grammar or private school which tend to be smaller - another one of her narrow minded stereotypes imo!

Jack has mentioned a cocked hat a lot recently and I didn't know wtf a cocked hat is. Naturally I googled and found out it can be a bicorne or tricorne hat. Given Jack's love of threes, I reckon she would wear a tricorne cocked hat.

One of my sons (🔺 must learn how to spoiler) goes to a school with 20 kids. About 5 to a class. Must seem incredibly posh to Jackie, then.
(in reality, it's a specialist Autism school. Free at the point of use. Not private.)
