I agree.

Re her Dad, I believe, and it’s disgusting, she is cosplaying those who lived through the miners’ strikes, the miners were extremely poor due to the longevity of the strike ( Polish toys were gifted from Polish unions so kids could have an Xmas gift) were extremely poor whilst they were striking fighting for their jobs, communities and just to eat.
According to Wikipedia the firefighter strikes were 2002-03 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002-2003_UK_firefighter_dispute). I very much doubt the story re hitchhiking, there is a huge camaraderie in the service ( like the police) and I doubt it would be tolerated could you imagine the outrage at hitchhiking firefighters arriving late for a shift due to not being able to run a car? Plus her Mum would have been working.

Unions also have funds for those who are vulnerable and miss wages from striking, when applied for, are distributed due to need and having children is prioritised, it’s not a fortune, nor close to actual wages but that’s what subs go towards. Obviously, the longer the strike the less funds there are ( hence why miners relief funds were empty) I think this cosplay really fires up the idea of her fabulous politics. I bet she watched Brassed Off ( good film) and adapted it to her narrative.

just wrote all this and found the exact days they were out for
  • 09:00 Friday 22nd November to 09:00 Saturday 30th November
  • 09:00 Wednesday 4th December to 09:00 Thursday 12th December
  • 09:00 Monday 16th December to 09:00 Tuesday 24th December
Although not great ( made it a tough Xmas) it’s not the miners or dockers strike in terms of longevity, it would have had an impact, but was very survivable especially with a second wage in the house. Her Dad being a union leader would also been involved with the negotiations. As a leftie union supporting Frau this cosplay makes me seriously angry. Her Strike narrative is seriously dubious, even if she was probably party to talk at home about what was happening.
Many many moons ago, my ex OH worked for Fords and was on strike for a long time (I think it was 16 weeks) I had a 3 year old and was pregnant. He got 9quid strike pay from the union after 3 weeks (I think) and i could claim supplementary benefit for me and my daughter. Wasnt easy but we managed. The Miners had it far far worse.

Also, going back further into strikers history, my dad worked in the docks and I can remember him a) having no work and just coming home, piece time, or zero hours contract as it fancily called now and (b Strking for better conditions and proper wages. Those were very hard times !

At this point, no one here will be surprised that Jack Monroe takes anything from anyone to co-opt it as her own experience for likes or money. Whether it's something physical or an ailment, an underserved identity, or economic hardship. She'll treat it like a scarf found in a puddle and wears it for as long as it serves her purpose.

I wonder if the end to the ❄ will hit today, or will she carry on?

The way she latched onto the fire service strikes are incredible, it wasn't the long General strikes or the Miners strikes fgs. I've been out on strike more 🔺️ and yes, it's hard, but we have funds in place, oh and most firefighters did OT to cover for the lost wages when they could as the watches are always lacking in staff.

Jumping all over the place a bit here -Like our smol pixie- but she will happily appropriate anything if it gains more follows and money, someone needs to disconnect her Internet and fast

In an unfortunate cross post, squig defending Jack catches her out in yet another pointless lie

Good morning!

I am utterly shocked that Jack's "apology" occurred behind the scenes and it is everybody else's fault.

Glad to see Jack Monroe / bootstrapcook deleted the tweet where she targeted an individual with a learning disability who was trying to defend her with verbal abuse. As stated before, I archived the tweet for future reference, should she feel the need to reinvent history.

Thankfully, Karl was more than capable of holding his own.

Unfortunately, her apology doesn't address the fact that nobody should receive this abuse from her. She does this on a regular basis and there are individuals who do not include any vulnerabilities in their profiles. She should most certainly shouldn't be arranging for pile ons on anybody with a smaller platform than herself.

Matei, the MSE journalist and the lecturer who specialises in journalistic representations of poverty all also deserve apologies for her behaviour. And that's just from this week alone.

It is not abusive to ask a question or query contradictions. This gaslighting and appalling behaviour is unacceptable.

Not sure if she's really doing that AA 10th step of taking inventory. She hardly takes inventory of all her freezer fish or pasta collection, let alone her actions and their consequences.
I don't think she's done a single step. Too much like hard work and being accountable for her self.

Risking pushback here but if i were SBs dad i would be reluctant to bring the young'un back after this weekends performance. (if, as is, obvious to me he hasn't actually been at home with his mum all this weekend your honor)

There needs to be an intervention.
and ASAP.
I know she’s said that her mum reads her tweets, but does SB’s dad? How would he be aware of this weekend’s appalling spiral unless it was spilling into IRL? Just worried that poor SB would be pitching up for his Tuesday (hopefully supervised) visitation into the middle of this aftermath…

(really hoping this isn’t solely up to SB Googling his mother’s Twitter to judge whether he should see her or not…)

But her son lives with her. Jack you are a parent. Try it, it’s hard, but you know it’s worth it. Get help, put down your phone for J’s sake. Don’t let his memories of being this age be so damaged by your appalling behaviour.
“I work alone 99% of the time”

Since COVID, a lot of people are now in that situation, and yes it can have impacts on physical and mental health.

However, given that Jack’s dishonesty and rudeness massively pre-date all of that, I’m pretty sure it’s not a valid excuse to be throwing abuse at people on Twitter.
Did she change the emojis in her username and what are they meant to signify?

A most convenient inclusion at at time when her FMs are (groundlessly) churning out endless accusations that the criticism of her is based on her gender identity.

So is working from home a good excuse to treat people like tit now? I've been doing it for years, without the regular jaunts to studios, radio interviews, festivals, events, etc (So she's not as isolated as she's trying to make out she is). I don't go around publicly ripping people to shreds for no good reason.......am I doing working from home all wrong? Or am I just not a total twit?
