What's she suing people for now? My strongly held conviction that she is a bullshitter?

I'm going as a trifle and I expect you all to defend me.

Forgive cluelessness please, but who is TD? I looked at the Dramatis Personae, but that didn't help.
I think, and perhaps a more experienced frau will let me know if this is incorrect, that it is a twitterer with the first name of the Scottish first minister, and the second name of someone who mills flour.

I think it’s both.

I don’t buy that you can’t change class, so even if Jack’s upbringing was working class, her being a well paid minor celebrity for the past decade would negate that, as would her current lifestyle and interests. I think it has to be a long term change or circumstances though.

Whaf I find interesting is that most people have a mixture of social class traits and characteristics, and are not purely stereotypical. Yet Jack is so obviously middle class in every possible way. I can’t even think of a single trait of hers that is in any way associated with the working class. Background, family, beliefs, politics, clothing style, accent, attitudes, snobbery, interests, housing etc all scream middle class.

The true marker is did she benefit from her class? Yes, and there is tangible evidence.

There’s an insta post on this thread that shows Jack got her big break after a friend put her in touch with a journalist who was looking for a skint mum at Xmas feature:

The media is a middle class industry, so connections only come from being middle class.

She also has the accepted celebrity “woke” beliefs that are common among middle class leftists, and compulsory among famous people unless setting out to be a token right winger.

She is given much more empathy and leeway for her terrible parenting and alleged alcoholism than a working class woman would have been. Imagine if Kerry Katona had ended up skint after the Jungle, then left her children starving because she was too ashamed to ask for help? Or if she claimed her kids had to check if she was still alive after witnessing her alcoholic stupors? Or was laughing about her 10 year old child’s stained underwear? Or any of the other nasty or neglectful things that Jack claims to have inflicted on her child. A working class woman would have been shamed into oblivion for Jack’s mothering skills.

She is also given the benefit of the doubt for her intentions. A working class woman would immediately be suspected of grifting, whereas Jack has carried on under the radar for a decade. Imagine if Kerry Katona - after coming out as skint and having starving kids - was still claiming to be on the brink of starving years later, and constantly rattling her tip jar. She would be treated as a feckless alcoholic drinking her money away.

KK would not be defended like Jack is from setting up bogus crowdfunders to buy her own book for “charity”, or raking it in from Kickstarter and Patreon and giving nothing. KK would also be treated like a laughing stock if she lied as much as Jack and if she publicly displayed Jack’s level of ineptitude.

So many interesting answers on class. I grew up in a council house in a mining town and although I worked in a prestigious job and for a long time had decent money coming in, I never thought of myself as other than working class. I do sound posher than I am, but that's only because I live (in a council flat) in one of the poshest towns in Scotland. 100% schemey.

Popping up mid-grunk to say Jack's really starting to remind me of someone I know irl in the way everything she does has to be an epic tale, either laden with manic pixie energy ("taking my favouritest ever backpack in the world to Asda") or strife as the situation calls for it.
She can't just go to an AA meeting it has to be all about how she has to get there so much earlier than everyone else, stay so much later than everyone else, take multiple forms of public transport (is the second bus a different shape lol?) and on and on...
Sign of a classic billy bullshitter aka compulsive liar.
Also bringing up the fact that she's the secretary of the AA meeting she's that sober, who does she think she's trying to kid.
She's so lost control of the narrative this time.

Re her Dad, I believe, and it’s disgusting, she is cosplaying those who lived through the miners’ strikes
I'd go one further and suggest she's not just cosplaying she's larping (live action role playing).

Lads I’d hate to get a telling off for trying to moderate the thread, so here’s some thread history.
We have a tradition of squiggling the names, photos/avatars and @handle of ordinary folk out there on twitter. Even if they are a Jack Stan, they don’t deserve to be captured in all their glory in perpetuity on the threads.
If you post and you don’t squiggle all three (lower down in the replies is a nightmare) it makes a mockery of the term “squiggle” if they’re not even squigged. Blue tickers are verified public figures, so they don’t benefit from being squiggled.

Sorry I have been busy so grunking quickly and badly.
Did she suggest that companies were going to pay her as some kind of inspirational speaker. To say what. Don’t do any fucking work and just be on the beg?
Even if she stuck to her lies what would she say, work 100 hours a week, don’t improve in anyway and still be dirt poor. INSPIRING.

someone I know who likes jack recently said their food looked disgusting, but they hadn’t had training?!?

@MavisBeacon what an excellent post for us non media industry types. Thank you for sharing that in so much detail.

I’m coming as a bitter old Haridan staring into space.

Katona would have been arrested to great media fanfare at least once at anything resembling those crowdfunding situations. Can you imagine KK saying she'd handed over the Teemill money but wasn't going to tell anyone where to or how much because she didn't want the charities to get abuse and everyone just accepting it?

Sorry if this has already been said etc but her putting out that apology would have prompted many to seek out the reason behind it and it’s fairly easy to find. I certainly used to do it when I was on that hellsite and saw an apology or mention of one. Everyone loves a controversy, especially from so-called famouses.
I suspect that, despite the many FMs (and within half a million followers they’re still a tiny, though vocal, minority), many many more will be turned off her and seek out further scandal relating to her. That comment from the Mum who has a son with learning disabilities and differences was extremely powerful. I imagine it’s indicative of how many felt reading her vile attack on innocent Karl.

Class is such a funny old thing. People have written about it far better than I can but it’s something you can both fully know unconsciously and be utterly confusing. My adoptive mum grew up in poverty and some of that still resonates for her and how we grew up. However my birth mother came from a very affluent family (she was mentally unwell for at least 10 years before she had me…and bloody hilarious when you don’t have to have any responsibility for her) and my adoptive mum views me now being MC as something I have in common with my birth mother and finds it really hard. I can still code switch to a certain extent between working class and middle class. I remember going to uni and being utterly bemused and intimidated by wealthier people and having the piss taken out of me because I didn’t know how to pronounce regatta. But after my first term at university I went to the social club our family have been going to since I was tiny and there was such a weird awkwardness between me people who’d known me for donkeys years and I didn’t know I had to code switch. Who knows. Maybe I was just being a pretentious twat.

ETA: in my experience WC and newly MC people tend to be really bloody clean. Jack’s nails and home remind me of those homes where they are super posh and have dog fur in the tea and random muddy boots lying around
