Oh I agree the odd weekend away without kids is fine, but never seems to do anything with him and even if he doesn't seem bothered I bet it's building up a secret resentment for her. One day on the future he will blow and all this tit will come tumbling out and she will be upset!
I agree. The teen years are turbulent enough as it is. God knows my own SB aged me about 100 years between the ages of 14-16. Those preteen memories of family stuff are so important when they 'come back' after the difficult period where teens (rightly) start to pull away from their parents.

OK, I realise this sounds crazy but, other than Jacks statements, have we any proof she really is an alcoholic?
Sorry but back at it again:

This isn’t saying you’re wrong btw but just feel there’s SO much misinformation out there about what addiction is and what it looks like, and who it happens to, and Jackie plays up to these tropes (as she has no lived experience) and perpetuates them and is so dangerous because she’s keeping people out of accessing help. This is a problem with medical professionals and the NHS and is why I’d never make it known to them as they lack the nuance to make the appropriate care decisions imo/e.

The only pre requisite for AA is a desire to stop drinking, any xA is a desire to stop x-ing. There’s a bit of nuance to it in that in smaller towns or more remote areas you may not have your xA so you’ll attend AA, if it’s an open group, also a lot of people whose substance abuse problems were problematic but they just prefer AA or they got clean at a time where there weren’t as many NA/CA meetings. There’s nuance to it. Also not everyone drinks the same - some are binges some steady some tons of volume some medium. It’s why I cringe when I hear alcoholics don’t like xyz drink 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t want to go me-raily but inevitably have to share some experience for context? I was a thriving✨ 23 year old with a gr8 job that started my career, a ton of friends, went out every night, loved drugs with my pals and generally taking the piss a little with work and all family commitments. Very normal for that age. I had friends that drank more, drugged more, participated in more dangerous behaviours (a fact that I thought of every night before bed to keep that sweet denial alive). But those friends didn’t have the serious MH problems I had & were only worsening. Masses of shame, tit self esteem, weird growing paranoia that all originated over britta filters being spiked with sedatives, a genuine hatred of men, like the list was truly endless. No one would ever have said I needed help and lots of ppl thought going teetotal was mad and weird or even attention seeking despite the fact I keep it majorly on the DL. But this is the thing there’s a spectrum before you become a Gazza or a Westbrook right? If we nip it in the bud early enough surely we only will save ourselves years and years of heartbreak? At 23 you can’t lose a house or have the missus leave with the kids and the big carTM but you CAN be too scared to open your windows and leave your bedroom and text anyone back so spend all weekend inhaling the bleach fumes you use to kill the black mold you’ve 100% caused yourself. Like these horror stories don’t develop overnight but you can see your life going down that path and choose to turn it around without needing to feel invalidated that you weren’t / aren’t alchy or druggy enough, cos you still could still mask to participate in mainstream society?

On topic - and this is where Jack spreads such a dangerous message with her ridiculous units story. Her story is SO atypical for women, particularly young women, I’ve honestly never heard one and I’ve heard some truly terrible tit. I’ve only heard a handful of blokes share like she did in her paid for guardian piece, tbh. It’s just not reflective of life for a lot of women, we’ve been socialised in such a way that we don’t tend to behave in the way she describes (abusing paid staff, hissing at romantic partners, etc).

Sorry for the essays, love u guys x

Thank you very much for this. You had the strength and the courage to face your problems and do something about them. You have no idea how much I admire that.
Rightly or wrongly, I doubt the veracity of Monroes addiction story. i can’t even articulate why. I have friends and family who’ve struggle With addiction, it’s a never ending battle

Thank you for sharing - that's completely right. I previously worked around addiction services and nothing she talks about quite rings true.

I'm inclined to believe she drank problematically and is attending meetings but I don't believe she is being honest with herself or others in her story. I think she's tried to sex it up to make it more interesting. As such she wont get what she needs from meetings (although will probably get what she wants, an audience).

Me too dear @heretoreaditall2019

Are all your dinners reeking?
Welcome Jack to Brechin!

Is the lingering honk smelly?
Jack is in Lochgelly!

A saddening odour underneath?
Jack is cooking in Cowdenbeath!

Is the honk far too lingery
Jack get the first bus out of Ballingry!

Pissed off for a variety of reasons but why does she think that “regular humans” have weekends off?

NHS and police officers don’t. Retail and hospitality workers don’t. Teachers don’t. Volunteers don’t. People who work in public transport don’t (obviously more examples but I have run out of brain power).

Bonkers. She is actually bonkers.

This. Exactly this. We know how much Jack loves a label and she Seems to regard AA meetings as some kind of Jolly Jack outing.

If she really is part of AA, I find it incredibly distressing that just a few days ago she was publicly discussing how she was calling AA members out of the blue and offering support to them; and has now yomped off to Holland, clearly with a view of disconnecting. What if people who suddenly became reliant on her want to be in touch?... It's all a public game for her isn't it?

And that is so incredibly obviously a phone resting at the right angle to take that picture.

Some funeral people work 24/7 around the clock on call because ya know people don't die between 9-5. We always have people on call overnight and at weekends, it's a rota but not particularly well paid. Jack, please note

I made Spaghetti Puttanesca for dinner tonight, because I suddenly discovered I actually DO like anchovies. I held my nose, and used Mom’s recipe, which seemed relatively authentico.

Purely for shits and giggles, I wondered if Jack had a version, and OF COURSE she does. Now, I may have been a Puttenesca virgin till a couple of hours ago, but I don’t think this recipe is right in the head. Or nice. Or edible:

POV - you're Harold. Jack has promised to stay off her phone on this lovely (and expensive, you've sold a lot of pig hats this week) break away. You nip back into the restaurant to order another bowl of anti-slop (thank Christ you didn't book an apartment with any cooking facilities) and two more 0.0% beers. You glance back lovingly at your smol lil pixie and your heart suddenly sinks. Jack's phone is propped up on the table and she's grimacing wildly down the lens.

If you like anchovies there is an “influencer” famous from GOMI days called Rosie Londoner (thread on here) who is eating anchovy spread every morning at the moment.

In Italy.

With coffee.

Bless you for this!

Oh don’t tempt me back to Blowsie - I wasted literally weeks of my life to GOMI Londoner threads back in the day - as far back as Gino Ginelli if that means anything to you…

Anchovies are ok. To a point. I’m not in love or anything (just because).

Yeah I kinda don’t want to believe she’d do that either. She doesn’t say OH took the photo or was around so I’m hoping she just decided to take a selfie to show how happy she is after their “mini break”z

Similarly she may just not mention SB coming alone because she’s finally giving him a modicum of online privacy.

The alternatives are just too cringy and sad to think about…….
Nope, she is an sb free zone

Omg 100% it doesn’t come across as true to me either, sorry I wasn’t passing a moral judgment on you judging it at all as agree wrt her but just hoped to illustrate that there is no objective criteria for who is or isn’t an addict, or who should or shouldn’t access help. But we should all wish for more than a system that only picks you up when you’re irreversibly fucked.

It’s brilliant that the rooms are so open and caring but as exhibited here opens them up to exploitation from bad players. People that want to add a bit of ~edge~ to their brand, PR spin bad deeds, gain Patreon subs, or just want attention. We can mither about that stuff but we definitively know that she drinks low ABV drinks, so isn’t abstinent as claimed.
