Also just a question but apparently it's not libel if it's an opinion, has he said or the other bloke said this was their opinion?

Thinking of selling a kidney so I can attend court. I'm interested to see what outfit Jack would choose, and if she wears her Tiffany earrings and pigs bottom cap.
Just kidding about the kidney but I'm keen to see how she would present herself.
Whatever it is it won't be ironed. 🥴. I'd actually remove her from my court for being scruffy.

I think there's a reasonable case that she's taking from the most intellectually vulnerable in society, if the last 24 hours are anything to go by
She 100% is. She is not stealing it - they are offering it voluntarily. But yes she profiteers from poor people. That is just a fact.

No, I have been watching the reaction and so far anything that might be termed rude and abusive has all been coming from Jack's toxic fans. Everything from general insults, digs about personal matters and gloating about future poverty and suffering. I should stress I haven't seen anything threatening or anything like that yet. Anyway I'm sure having nasty abusive behaviour associated with left won't be weaponised by Lozza and chums and won't backfire the way it does on just about every other occasion.
There's so many of them who have taken her authoritarian lead and are now acting as constables to her chief of twitter police. I've never seen so many threats of legal action in response to mild tweets, including obsessively screenshotting anyone with the temerity to question Jack and then posting the screenshots at them as some sort of 'gotcha' moment. Like ... come on. It's not (yet) illegal to think Jack Monroe's a prick.

She reminds me of someone I went to uni with who grew up in a mansion that literally had wings
A friend of mine dated a girl in Uni who banged on about how much she understood poverty because she'd grown up on an estate. It comes time to meet the parents... turns out it's not a housing estate, its a National Trust type estate. The poor people she knew so well were her parent's tenant farmers and other staff!

I'm just hoping the Reclaim lads turn up in Dead People Can't Riot T-shirts.

(Sorry, don't know where this will land)

During a lurking spate a long time ago, I recall when Jack was claiming to have grown up in a flat too small for legal human habitation, when she in fact grew up in a 5 bed detached house.

There has been a recent article about the local council cutting down mature trees, upsetting residents. Jack's parents give their opinion (as per), and say they have lived there for "nearly 30 years".

An article about fostering dated March 2006 says they have been fostering nearly 14 years. I would estimate this means they moved in in the latter half of 1992, as they wouldn't have had enough bedrooms before Jack's working class parents spent £30,000 in the early 90's extending their house (equivalent to £56,874 today).

From this I guess that Jack grew up in the 5 bed ever since she can remember, aged 4-5.

The would be great, they'd also be well within their rights to demand to know where the money they spent on them had actually gone.

This grunk is truly equivalent to when I discovered the 24 series box sets many years ago and it was a case of... just two more episodes.

But now, it's Elevenerife'd to 34!

I've got a question for fraus... if it all goes tits up, could Patreon/Patterson subscribers or PayPal givers ask for their money back?

❤ to all

An interesting point is how much the PM actually earns. There is the salary as an MP, supplements for leadership etc. The PM doesn't have to claim everything on offer - it looks like Boris & Theresa both claimed less.

The stated figure for 2020 is £161k. I'd be surprised if Jack earned more than that. Tax rates would differ as I believe MP is a PAYE type role versus the limited company employee / director. Other income such as interest on savings - do they count?

So which figure are they saying Jack's earnings exceed?

Sadly it's probably a moot point as no doubt this will get brushed under the carpet. I'd have had a modicum of respect if Jack has said last night "my solicitor isn't working today, and it's FA Cup weekend so I'll comment on Monday". But no, the high of Twitter likes has won. I said the other day she was getting more arrogant and this has been a peak of the worst behaviour.

The parents lived in a tiny flat, moved with big bro to two bed terrace, then to 3 bed when Jack was 4. They then built on two more bedrooms when they started fostering.

If you want to get technical the pm has half his income for being a mp. She could quite possibly be earning at or around the earnings as the prime minister alone. They could say they were just talking about the pm element, which is also silly as you can't have one without the other but it isn't clear cut. Another reason why this absolutely won't go anywhere and noone will take it on.

The Prime Minister’s earnings are made up of £79,496 for his role as Prime Minister, and an additional £81,932 for being an MP.

Jacks patreon element of her income I think is around 40k a year for 700+ based on the average patreon donation of $6. The corporate gigs, multinational ads, appearances, interviews, book royalties and tip jar could easily be another 40k.

IIRC Interest is taxed as income, but income from investments is taxed as Capital Gains.

I don't think tax would be relevant really though, because "a reasonable person" would base their opinion on the headline earnings (i/e before tax).

I watched Saturday Kitchen for the second week running and lovely Matt was so happy with his award from Fortnum and Mason. In fact, every foodie account I follow has been posting about the awards and congratulating others for their wins. It’s telling that Jack is completely ignored and ignoring this.

It’s really sad (in a “what a sad little life, Jane” way, not a sympathy way: she deserves nothing but misery) that she supposedly has this exciting new relationship, a new book on the way, plenty of lucrative speaking engagements lined up over the summer for the first time in two years, yet she’s too consumed by grift (to pay her tax bill, no doubt) and petty squabbles with the other worst people on the internet to appreciate or enjoy these things that so many people would kill for.

She’s a completely tragic character. Films should be made about her, but not the sympathetic heroine melodrama she expects.

It's been lovely to see joy on the faces of the winners, especially after several long periods of isolation and no socialising. That's hard for food and hospitality people

Well if we've learnt one thing it's that Jack's assessment of working class and everyone else's assessment of working class are two very different things.

Close family members with multiple properties, detached houses on tree-lined roads, ballet lessons, Land Rovers, Papa's Harley Davidson, Grammar School, foreign holidays, Omega watches, top brand household items and equipment, etc....you get the idea. Her parents may have had a working class upbringing but I feel Jack's was very different.
Big Dave was also grammar educated at the boy's version of Jack's school, he went to university, his mum's a Conservative (back when this was fairly unusual for the working class) and of course his dad was a serial landlord and owned a restaurant and left 12 properties in his will.

It's safe to say not only did she grow up exceedingly middle class, but at the very least her dad did, too.
