Just wanted to get in on this historic occasion to see my bespoke hat and say you're all great (not you, Jack) and it's wonderful to see Silver back with her Spite Orangery pics.

Going back to lay in bed wide awake and be screamed at by my cats until my alarm goes off at 7 now. They've learned some new stupid noises recently, so that's fab.

Joining in with the delurking since it's a special occasion... Joined Tattle for the Pip Schofield drama and started reading Jack's thread as it was always the most liked. Feel like a voyeur as I didn't know who she was previously, but her antics are incredulous and frau/herrs knowledge and wit has seen me through a lot of insomnia. I've missed out on many a hat and the kumquat salon, so I didn't want to miss this one too. TOOT TOOT and happy 300!
Welcome on board the Monroelacoaster!

Thanks for the reminder about the kumquat salon. We should do that again 😂

Mine woke me up with an epic tantrum because her food was 30mins late. Gotta love cats.

But it’s thread 300 and I was here for Thread 1. So proud. 😁

Ah lol this reminds me of DKL Jack in the second week where she suddenly started larping like she was a live telly veteran, flinging TV parlance around and staying up half the night reading WW2 recipes 🤣

To the Frau up thread whose sister was asking why Jack fucks up every single point she tries to make: it’s because her whole persona is based on something she is not. If I had a severe convulsion and suddenly decided to larp as a quantum physics professor with Cherokee heritage, I too would duck up at every point because it’s something I’m not. HOWEVER, I would hope that after 10 years of immersing myself in quantum physics and Cherokee culture I would at least have picked up enough of those things that I wouldn’t insult physicists and the Cherokee Nation every time I opened my mouth? So it just shows how unwilling Jack is to listen to and learn from others’ lived experience.

To be honest Fraus I’m still wOw at Jack’s claim that she stopped recommending people buy and use Basic ranges 8 years ago?? That’s literally her USP, the long promised VBI is based on it, what’s she going to do now?

Also her claim that a weekend in Venice has changed her entire cooking philosophy and she’s now going to use fewer ingredients as in classic Italian cuisine? Whilst it’s nice that she’s no longer going to recommend overengineered slop with a million and one wacky ingredients, the challenge with only using 4 /5 ingredients and really letting them sing is you need those ingredients to be of the finest quality and you need proper chef skills, or a real cultural heritage, to treat those ingredients properly to bring out the best in them. In the kindest possible way, this is not really Jack’s skill set.

I too really wanna know the origin of TD’s beef with Jack! Go TD!!

This means nothing to meeeeeee

Vienettaaaaaaaaa
Coming from the past to say this post deserves all the likes - and to see how my hat looks.
Been here almost since the beginning - definitely prior to the infamous thread 31 - alas, not quite since thread one. It’s been a blast! Thanks everyone - and especial thanks to all the screen shotters, detective 🔺 fraus and gif/meme/photoshop fraus. Big wave to lurkers - come on in - the waters fine!

I wonder how many fraus there actually are? I’m sure the mods can forensically, slowly, gently extract that information to be presented to us in a porridge bowl of slop. 😂😂 🙌🥣🍚🍨🍜

ETA: Omg I’m a VIP MEMBER 😍👏🎉🍾🍻🥂🥳

Loving all the lurkers coming out to say hello. Any others? Tell us what brought you here in the first place 🥰😏
Freaky Friday (Sali Hughes played a blinder there 😆)
On discovering educated discourse on her thread, I then noticed another Guardian contributor in the form of Jack. I had previously tried a recipe of hers, and it didn’t work despite my bean rinsing.
One of the main flags for me though was that god awful and quite frankly irresponsible article the guardian printed regarding how fabulous she felt after one weeks sobriety, a few years back. As someone who does struggle with alcohol, it was confusing. I now see it for what it is, thanks to Tattle. Others will still take her on face value ☹
The fact she continues to be given platforms to spout her nonsense, really pisses me off.

However, I do love to read about it on here 🤣

It’s quite interesting that Monroe seems to have stopped tweeting on weekends? Good for her, in a way.

It does though lend weight to the idea that she considers tweeting ‘work’, and has thus decided to give herself weekends from this apparent daily grind. Which of course, puts her whole “100 hour weeks” into ever clearer perspective.

Or she’s gone gavotting off on another mini break with OH.

I think what Jack fails to grasp is that an Italian dish might use four raw ingredients - say, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, basil. Whereas Jack's idea of four ingredients would be a tin of stewed steak, a tin of spam, a packet of mixed veg (yellow sticker), and I dunno, some bleeping maize snacks. Which...is not quite the same.

Bet she puts on her best weekend socks though... 😏

I have just read the Mumsnet Jack/Daily Kitchen thread 😂
It wasn't just us then! They all came to the same conclusion that she was Terrible and that Matt didn't even bother to surpress his obvious irritation by the end.
I had forgotten she was threatening to sue here 😂 For saying she was useless.
This was one of my favourite comments.

I went off to make some tea and toast during the awkward silences at the start of her cooking segment - and came back in to find her cutting up something that looks like I could pave my patio with it.

I need to make a confession…I still haven’t grunked the mythical thread 31 because I’m too scared of the second hand cringe!! I can’t bear embarrassment!!! Even someone else’s (I don’t know why I’m weird ok it’s like the moomin fear and the fear I have of getting my foot stuck in a giant clam even though I have never even seen or swum near one)
Go for it - it’s not cringe it’s delicious ! The surprise when she rocks up even tho u know she does - the being ignored by the canal - being unfunny it is chefs kiss x

I remember it at the time, it was the “gotcha” moment not hitting the mark at all for me 😂 and no one popping up to go “leave Jack alone actually!”

A lot of ExMILs sauces etc involve simmering them for hours. I’m tight fisted and refuse to do that on my gas hob so use a slow cooker instead, for 12 hours, and get the same result. She also uses mainly Aldi stuff, unless she wants something specific and then it’s off to the Italian shop a few towns over (they do the cutest tiny star shaped pasta for toddlers, mine are too old for it now and I miss it 🤣)
