Did she ever think of asking the Asda to get the rice back in stock……. Sometimes supermarkets stop doing items as no one is buying them. And I imagine in a fancy affluent area Jack lives in there is probably more demand for the fancy arborio rice than basics long grain.

Because costs have gone up for a lot of other processes in the system, mainly fuel-related. Very roughly you'll get one jumper out of one fleece, so the wool has never been a big part of the price of the final product.

Oh, and the reason the cost of shearing has gone up is that we haven't had the gangs of lads and lasses over from Australia and New Zealand for the last couple of years, due to Covid, so there's been a big shortage of people able to do it.
Thank(space)you

Absolutely they do. If it doesn't sell they take it off. Jack buying basic rice twice a year for a poverty porn segment on GMB isn't gonna keep her nice little neighbourhood Asda stocked with it ffs

The thing I find interesting is last year during the MR lunch thing, she talked shite all over the press and then nothing more was heard. I have a feeling she makes a point, they give her air time and then because she crap at it, she burns out or whatever and someone much more equipped comes along, the. She narc rages about niches and the circle of crap complete one orbit of obligatory slop.

This happened with blinis in my local Morrisons. They only sold 20 packs in 6 months so they were cut. My partner was upset but think of the waste if they continue to sell things no one wants?

There is a small PR opportunity for a supermarket to say all stores will stock value range rice/pasta/basics
She’s all up Mr Iceland’s PR, Iceland saved me during the pandemic and I’ve always shopped there BUT they are not the cheapest, they don’t do value basics! Their fruit and veg isn’t the cheapest or the freshest.

I think it's because it's in the Observer rather than the Guardian, the Obs never seems to allow comments.
Don't look at Tim Dowling's column, he seems to generate a bazillion comments every week writing about his tortoise and exceedingly dull household in Acton! These wealthy, connected people seem to have some sort of weird sway in the media.

Iceland is full of sugar in my opinion, practically everything is processed and the fresh food isn't all that great. Perhaps the one local to me isn't that great, but if one Asda can cause this chaos perhaps I can cause some of my own.

Also word of advice, you need to work on your references for your course work pet. That's not the correct way to do it.

Much love.

What they need is a 'Jack Monroe Value Range' :p

She will make horrendous dishes from it and never eat any.

So it wouldn’t be worth me doing a forensic FOI to track them all down? I’d be happy to but I know they are a massive pain in the arse.
He wasn’t in a relevant sector at all; but according to Signor Terrible you could definitely do an FOI, and ask it to cover ever department, paid and unpaid roles.

eta: he was surprised she spoke at the CPC (which isn’t anything to do with government).

She may have been used in some capacity somewhere, like an advisory group, but he would only ever commission academics or qualified consultants for reports to support policy. Agreed any old idiot can respond to a consultation, but would expect Lobby groups to.

It also involves peer review. Not really sure Jack could cope with everything she did being scrutinised in the open by experts without her having the ability to set her monkeys on them.

We shall see what happens eh?
But you have to admit the funding application would be hilarious.

Especially if Jack included her cv
