This is an important point maybe, we all (well those like myself with no first-hand experience) imagine that the natural ending to an issue is that the one with the issue learns from their mistakes and ends up with something like a happy ending - to say, why can't they just see what the world sees and be honest with themselves? With narcs though this doesn't seem to be the case, they may not be capable. It's actually a bit shocking, and worthy of pity.

It would be worthy of pity if they didn't cause horrible damage to everyone around them and duck all accountability for it.
