I personally think her books will start tanking. More people are bored. She lost a big opportunity in lockdown, when people were adapting, making lock down food - even bloody doing tins, just miles and miles better she was doing what? Having a tantrum weeks in because JO was employed by his employer??

She had a weird presenting 2 weeks where she had no distinguishable feature, she can guard the comments but its quite obvious she (allegedly) hasn't been asked back.

Theres only so many times you can put various different pensioner foods out there for people to give a tit. These people on twitter - might buy her book i guess, but im not sure she will be getting the old levels of success.

Fellow Bourdain lovers. Parts unknown is coming to Netflix in June
All of them. Rejoice, rejoice.
Iā€™m here for crisps on things. Iā€™ve done Cheetos and Doritos as breadcrumbs in chicken. Spicy Cheetos on Mac and cheese. Mainly ā€˜dirtyā€™ food. (Hate that expression but you know what I mean). And you cannot beat a roll and crisps. Yummmmmy. Donā€™t think Iā€™d have them with eggs mind.

Back to the task at hand. Those potatoes are actually JoĆ«l Robochonā€™s. Anthony done a take of them for food and wine magazine.
This is the useless information I retain.

Tony hated celebrity chefs. He hated the commercialism if the food industry and was quite scathing of people like Rachel Ray. Doubt he would have taken to someone with no kitchen experience and a bullshit persona championing themselves as cook of the people. Heā€™d of seen through her in a min.
Thatā€™s not to say he was a twit to everyone. Tony was a real champion of chefs and spoke regularly of those he admired.

Itā€™s like sheā€™s plucked his name out because of his battles with addiction (he went from heroin to work. He was definitely addicted to work) and ultimately his death by suicide. Itā€™s crass and insulting to his memory to tie him to her new book.

I do find it bewildering how she can be so enthusiastic about animal products after her vegan stint. Like thereā€™s introducing animal products again and then thereā€™s what sheā€™s doing. Genuinely struggle to see how someone can be so cavalier about eggs, for example, after knowing (and lecturing others!) about how they are produced. Did she ever care?

And thatā€™s not anything about people who happily eat eggs, I get it, I ate eggs for over 30 years and am not a vegan myself. I know itā€™s a fraught topic but she seems quite good at hiding amongst those - to prevent scrutiny?

I just really donā€™t get it - she talked such a good game to sell that vegan book. It shows how easily she adopts identities and then sheds them when it suits or when the mileage runs out.

Agree with every word about Anthony Bourdain, he didn't suffer fools easily and would have seen through her bullsh*t in seconds.
Can't agree with you on the crisps though ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦. on their own yes (Tyrells are my favourites) but never in a sandwich or crumbled on mashed potatoes and manky hard yolked poached eggs ;)

Why thank you @poppycat šŸ˜ I did used to live up north, so would be quite content. I can cook and bake (honest!), so long as you don't mind swearing, and the odd stupid injury. I once turned the wrong burner on, touched it, and somehow recoiled with the most incredible left hook to my nose. I was seeing stars!
Sorry, this made me snort. Or HOOT as I believe is de rigueur.

I am also a terrible klutz. When I was pregnant, years and years ago now, I slipped on some ice and fell and landed really heavily on my hands. In shock I proceeded to carry on with my day which was to take my then husband and his mates to a 5-a-side game. I drove to the sports club and could feel my left arm seizing up as I drove and by the time I got there I could no longer turn the wheel with it and was in A LOT of pain. They carried on with their game, because I go v quiet when I'm in pain. Had to ring my mum and she took me to A&E. At A&E they tried to X-ray my elbow, couldn't because I couldn't move it and they couldn't use certain angles because I had the iron apron on and they were worried about the baby. Waited for a doctor with my mum, still mostly silent. Doctor had clearly decided nothing much was wrong from what he could see on the x-ray and that I was being a bit of a wimp, and I couldn't be in much pain as I was talking quietly and politely. He proceeded to try and straighten my arm. He got to a certain point and then I fixed him with a stare and said, still quietly and politely but apparently terrifyingly, 'You are going to bleeping stop doing that right now'. Sent me away in a sling, saying it was bruised.

2 days later I was cooking dinner, touched the hot bar of the oven with the hand attached to the bad elbow that had only been getting more painful. Like you, I snatched it away from the hot thing. There was an audible POP, my arm straightened and what was apparently an undiagnosed dislocated elbow snapped back into place with about the most intense moment of *something* I'd ever experienced. Had a lovely burn on my hand for ages too.

Hmm, that's a tough question which may take some...

No. She didn't.

I have plain tortilla chips with chilli. Either in the bowl first or I use them to dip into the chilli. I also like crisps to accompany a sandwich. Soup, sandwich and crisps on the side are šŸ‘

What on earth is this slop? And it is in her BOOK? UGH

The juxtaposition of the stylized food photography that seems to be the standard in all modern cookery books these days, all the seemingly carelessly placed but artful accessories and natural materials around it, and the clever lighting with what's ACTUALLY IN THE BOWL, has really made me laugh. Can't polish a turd people.

A layer of cheap crushed crisps on top of a pasta bake then grilled...is a total winner!

In other news whoever mentioned Nancy Birtwhistle on here, big thanks. Have started following her and she has great ideas. She made some amazing fritters yesterday from left over veg from a roast. Simple and delicious.

There are so many good cooks, chefs, food writers etc filming on Instagram. They all seem to be able to tap into the nations need in different ways. I love watching Yotam Ottolenghi he is brilliant at simply showing how to cook great food with great and simple images and instructions.

If I was a food writer and had a new book out and was spending 20 hours in a sweaty humid kitchen cooking then now is the perfect time to take some pictures and upload it. She doesnā€™t seem to have a genuine interest in food. What happened to lockdown larder? Once Jamie was off she quit that, just showing the disingenuous nature of what she does. Even that twit Wicks is still prancing around with his pe lessons.

Agreed, Iā€™m surprised no vegans have called her out. Some can be a brutal lot online and attack YouTubers who just attempted veganism and didnā€™t try to profit from it

Vegan(ish) was released less than 5 months ago and her new non-vegan cookbook is due for release next week. She really did not give a tit about veganism

I was going to do my monthly ā€œduck off and donā€™t come back until youā€™ve been to cookery schoolā€ post but if thatā€™s the tit sheā€™s still peddling, I am starting to think that it wouldnā€™t help.

Lady canā€™t cook.

So, please just duck off Jack. Take your paypal begging bowl with you too.

I think part of the problem with the food is she clearly puts that dark Instagram filter that was popular in 2013 over it, so it always looks like prison food?

I do think if she didnā€™t do that & raise contrast youā€™d see itā€™s a lot... wetter... than it appears but at least it wouldnā€™t look on the turn?

Do we have any publishers on here ? A How To Be A Spectattler Hausfrau manual would surely be a bestseller abs help fund our legal fees ??

No. She didn't.
Yet she would probably happily sneer at Fearne Cotton who brought out her Happy Vegan book at the same under the same premise - that eating animal products all the time can be habit more than anything and every meal/day you can eat vegan reduces the burden on the planet. Yet itā€™s Fearne who, as far as I can tell, has genuinely embraced a plant-based diet and didnā€™t need to temporarily live a lie to sell a book.

Side note: Fearneā€™s book is quite good - nothing ground breaking but a good range of dishes and you can tell itā€™s well tested and produced. One for the masses, for sure. A good option for anyone wanting to introduce a few vegan meals.

And what about the decorative scarf / material in the shot, looks so unhygienic, barf.

Agree with 100%. Chucking and bunging ingredients together and trying to make it look appetising is not her forte. If fills book pages and people are sucker enough to buy the books. This depressipes cookbook going to be interesting to say the least.

It looks like something a student would be proud enough to put on insta. Itā€™s light years behind her age mates alone on insta let alone culinary peers when you think about it, which is sad.
