Complete bullshit, good find from you! In autumn 2012 she moved from her executive flat to a two-bed (going from 725£ to 675 in rent). She was financially secure enough at this point to take on two cats.

She then started a home craft business, had some photos locally exhibited, and got a job at the Southend Echo. AFAIK that job was as a trainee reporter. The only way her story makes sense is if she was, indeed, hired as the paper's official prostitute, which would be quite the scandal.

She signed her first book deal in May 2013.

ETA: in the anonymous Buzzfeed piece about domestic violence in same sex relationships, she specifically claimed to have worked as a prostitute prior to her pregnancy. Admittedly details could have been changed to preserve anonymity etc, but a key part of that story was that the abusive girlfriend was abusive while Jack was pregnant and bullied her for having worked as a prostitute.
So if the domestic abuse happened when she was pregnant (SB born Spring 2011) Jack was still in the fire service still, so pre poverty. And if the ‘prostitution’ happened before that, maybe she was the official newspaper sex worker as well as separately being one before she joined the fire service in 2007. She didn’t resign from the fire service until late 2011.

SB was born in March 2010.

She's full of tit with her sex work, unless you count her sugar mummies and patreon pay pigs 🤑🐷🤑

I am not up to date with the prostitution story. I do remember her posting that she served in a bar in her underwear and six inch heels whilst she was working for the fire service. I think these were the pictures she was offering to provide to the press when she heard they were looking for 'dirt' on her. Do you think that this is what she refers to as 'sex work'? I do wonder why she would need to 'make ends meet' with a second job whilst single and on 27k a year. ETA reading the above posts, apparently not single? Too much, can't keep up.

You are absolutely right. I should have looked at my crime wall timeline more carefully. She has even less time then to fit in the pregnant fire service sex work.

Jack’s hinting about sex work is another example of her prudery and daily mail views. She desperately wants the Twitterati crowd- sex work is work and empowering people to let her in their club, whilst still getting sympathy from her pearl clutching poverty porn target audience of Patreons.

Does anyone else feel like we are the only people who cringe at Jack? She is David Brent and we are Tim, everyone else is Gareth?! How can Smol Bot man see that there are 150 threads on her, gently, softly (kill me) exposing her own BS, yet still think WE are the weirdos?! Does no one have the social and critical thinking skills to see that she’s a wrong’un?
Some pople think she's a saint because she won the Katie Hopkins court
For some she's a palateble poor person that fits with how they think 'the poor' should act (yellow sticker salad bag pesto on their menu rather than increasing benefits)
Some want to be retweeted by her because of her large following (or will take any likes from her because of that exposure) - looking at you smol boy.

I started cringing more and more but continued to give her the benefit of the doubt as she kept on being wheeled out as an 'example'. I somehow assumed she'd be a good egg (why else would she keep getting published in newspapers?). Also her earlier reciepes were not as bad as the later ones. Then I had to mute her because my timline kept being filled with her drama and nonsense (and then I found the cabal , and it all started making sense)

She doesn't say sex work, she specifically says prostitution, so I doubt that she's talking about those labia-tucking nights at the health & safety hazard bar.

Basically, it's a lie.

She is, however, not allergic to tomatoes, so we're all a gang of inaccurate bullies. 🤷🏼‍♀️

To be entirely honest it’s hard to have any sympathy. His publishers blurb says he works in data, there’s a plethora of well paid jobs available, even during the pandemic, it’s not as if those robots are the only thing keeping him from a dose of Jack Monroe DestitutionTM, plus monetising sponsorbot is pretty ghastly to boot. In summary 3/10 a v boring side character, I miss Eammon Holmes x
I think I read on his own account he would prefer not to go back to his boring job. Well that's why some job jobs are paid I guess, because they are boring and we don't do them for fun or 'likes', even if overall we love our work/like our colleagues etc. (But yeah, his skills make him very employble and he had a super stable employer as well. In this economy/pandemic many people would appreciate that combination!)

Oh! Granola.
Where are you?
I waited all day.
I waited all night.
Your sweet crunch
And your gentle cinnamon redolence
Has yet to embrace me.
Oh! Granola.
Where are you?

What I will never get my head around is her insistence she lived in grinding poverty for two years (no heating, no light bulbs) with a very small child, but the child had a loving father and grandparents who apparently stood by idly and watched this?

We could all Jack in our jobs and tit about on Twitter begging for patreons. The good thing about working for the NHS (or the fire service) is that it’s a steady regular income and gives you time to do your little projects in your spare time.

I have no patience for anyone who thinks normal jobs with a salary are not cool enough for them. (Yes last day of half term today for me- back to the plague pits tomorrow).

Aye, she's like that with any of the clubs or trends. She wants the likes from 'confessional mommy' ones, and from the crafty 'upcyle your toilet rolls to a Barbie dream house' mums, and from the zero waste crowd, and from [fill here your favourite crowd she's pandered to or did some cosplay for].

Most of all she lurves a blue ticker ilke though!

There is no way you live 2 years without lightbulbs 💡

I'd love to have an #actualjob right now! I had to quit mine 4 years ago and go on a disability pension. Managed to keep the lightbulbs screwed in, and the MC crew managed to keep all their toys.

Good Skilz and best wishes to you all in your fully lit, lie free home. There are so many real families that are victims of circumstances that don’t have their voices heard due to Jack’s poverty fairytale getting recounted every day.

I've made some changes to the wiki https://tattle.life/wiki/jack-monroe Rather than linking out to @colouredlines post with the timeline, I've copied the whole lot into the wiki. That makes it easier to add to and to include more sources.

As a #fridgetruther, I have already unearthed that she switched off her fridge between Dec 2011 and July 2012, claims it stayed off for two years (so until Dec 2013 or July 2014) yet in July 2013 she lived in a shared house with five other people. How did they all feel about having the fridge switched off for another 6-12 months?

Will someone please think of the flatmates????

Another ridiculous lie. Why would a parent governor be talking to Jack's mum?
"We'll take her down a peg or two"

Nobody speaks like that about a kid, FFS!

I could also read before I started school and was a few years ahead of my classmates in reading comprehension. I really don't think it's that unusual.

Makes no sense at all. Jack loves to imagine a world where every single person she encounters is threatened by her brilliance and quirkiness. She upsets and challenges their equilibrium by being so unusual.
It is a stance most people usually grow out of by the time they are 15.
