I don't get why people think Jack is LGBT. I can't really see any signs. His generation tend to have more varied personalities, I feel like some older generations mostly acted similar to 'fit in' which isn't really the case now.

His ego is hurt that's all, its ego driving the Oxford obsession. Like most influencers ego tends to take over when they are criticised too.

I've just completed my degree with a first and I freely admit ego was driving my desire for a first (theres much debate about the value of a first vs 2.1 in the job market). Also ego can drive what course and uni you want to go to. HOWEVER I know so many people who hated their first choice and changed uni, usually to a 'lesser' one. Having also worked at a uni I know this to be true and I can also see why Oxford may have rejected him based his public persona and attitude.

Oh and Jack...welcome to the real world. You've existed in uni and social media bubble. Life really starts after uni and shock horror, not everyone in the world is going to be the suck ups you get in your comments. Your doing some highly dubious advertising and have also not represented the best way to be a student at times. If you put yourself out there as an expert in something then people will challenge you when things dont add up.

Hi jack why don’t you address the actual problem here - your ignorant acceptance of any sponsorship that gives you money, instead of trying to shit on someone who made a mistake

I think people here are just lowkey giving him the benefit of doubt rather than realising that the whole 'I'm not actually getting paid' is just a way to deflect criticism.

He could have refused the ad in general and posted his own thing, the fact that he accepted the ad probably does mean that he is getting paid for it.

This!! Online uni is so hard and these influencers just go about doing whatever the fuck they want without a care about the restrictions. No social distancing or masks and for what? It’s not even like he’s been to see family he hasnt been able to see, or gone abroad for a longer holiday. But going on loads of shorter holidays to different places, fucking about for Instagram pictures and videos is disgusting when people are dying. I’ve been pretty much alone for weeks and I’ve caught covid from a flat mate, makes me so fucking angry that influencers think they are above the law
Coronavirus really made me change my mind on a lot of studytubers (and youtubers/celebrities in general), I lost my respect for many of them. Unjaded jade is one of the firsts on the list, but jack is quickly following. I just can't wrap my head around how privileged some people are and how badly they use this privilege. I'm jealous? Yes! How could I not be? I lost my part time job, I have to attend uiversity online and I lost countless experiences that I should have had between last year and this year. But jack can just travel and ignore social distancing, seems right.

I have a real issue with him putting 'trust me' in capital letters. that is sheer arrogance and is trying to cancel out the other persons opinion. Jack your view and experience is not fact, its opinion. stop putting others down just because they have a different experience

I think it’s terrible he’s dragged holly Gabriel (is that here name?) she’s got a lot of mental health issues and doesn’t seem to have many if any friends, the fact he then drags her into his mess, just avoid the question, he’s more a wanna be social climber than he let’s on, the fact he can happily slag her off (that’s inadvertently what he’s done) but be friend with touchdalight tells you all you need to know about jack. And the fact he let slip that he’s got no friends left from 6th form too! Twat

He must have had complaints/questions. He’s confirmed it’s not a paid ad.
I don't know. He only said 'this post' isn't a paid ad. Considering Ruby Granger got paid for the ad about the candle, it's possible he got paid too for the first post about lighting a candle but not this post with the reading recommendation.

I remember PaigeY talking about her reasons for picking a job offer over a master's year at Cambridge and in that video, I believe she was also talking about how university doesn't change too much in terms of employability. She was mentioning how many Cambridge graduates were also struggling to find a job, and she was sadly right. It's an especially challenging time for newly graduates, I feel for them honestly. The pandemic cost a lot of experienced people their jobs, let alone new graduates. The job market is a nightmare right now so those who tried to make sure they had some experience under their belts are at least one step ahead. Paige did a very smart thing with her internship on her second year summer, now she must be looking back thanking herself that she had the sense to see ahead.

Jack's luck is that he doesn't have to worry about choosing rent over food. Youtube keeps him going for now but he must have thought it'd be fairly easy to walk into a master's degree or a job with a first from Durham in his résumé. If only.

How hard is it to just say, "I'd love to promote this cause, but please don't offer me the money for it. I'd rather it went to Holocaust Education/awareness" I'm not an influencer idk is that how it works?

Why did ALL of his “backup plans” involve going abroad? Surely he didn’t expect travelling to India, getting an internship abroad or studying abroad to be viable options in the current state of the world, it’s so stupid it’s almost self sabotage

Trust me, from experience two ways to annoy university admissions teams.

1 - getting your parents to do all the work and communicating for you when applying

2 - Keep applying once you've been rejected. We/they aren't stupid, names are remembered and staff talk to eachother. It also highly annoys the admissions tutors for the respective courses and depending on the tutor you may get even less sympathy than from the admissions team

Hi Jack, could you comment on your understanding of the social distancing measures in place? I.e. having 3 people indoors from different households, not keeping 1 metre+ apart - okay or not? Looking forward to seeing the answer in your next Q&A.

Fair play to him but his posts, photos and actions say otherwise, especially about wanting to be an influencer and prioritising social media. Time will tell I guess
If he is accepting money for adverts and directing his viewers to things they can purchase because he is promoting it- then he is an influencer.

He's not even really "living on his own" in a true sense. He's freeloading a studio in a student accommodation. Not fully judging him for jumping at the opportunity as I'd like a nice free flat in the middle of London too but it's hard to call his situation completely independent. It's the same shit that Jade pulled last year, "announcing" how she's moved to London when actually it was half a step above staying in a hotel.

Random slightly off topic but I love seeing posts like this. This forum is often labelled as trolls, haters , losers etc. But there are people from so many different backgrounds on here, often sharing similar opinions who have successes in various aspects of life
I agree with that! I feel like if someone is willingly making themselves a public figure then the public has a right to criticize, but I do try to stay clear of anything malicious or unnecessarily nasty. I'm all here for criticizing the content and aspects of the creator, but not in an unconstructive way. Tbh, at least on the threads I read, I haven't seen anything too overtly mean which is great!

With Jack, for example, I genuinely enjoy his content, but I don't agree with the overt pressure he's putting on himself to get into Oxford. It's become like his sole mission in life. I even commented on his latest Oxford rejection, back in the day, asking why he hasn't considered Cambridge, or other unis and he just didn't reply.

Despite having been through undergrad and presumably having matured considerably, he still allows that first rejection to hang over his life, which also sets a pretty bad example for his viewers, especially those soon to apply to uni. I genuinely think he is better suited for a more modern, more vibrant environment, like UCL or KCL, or even Bristol. Anyway, I do hope, if he has been rejected, that he finally decides to move past this and find a uni or a job that actually suits his wants and personality.

Slightly off topic as well, but I am currently watching Eve Bennett's new life update and the way Oxford has handled the required year abroad for language students is appalling.
For anyone not interested in the whole video, the gist is that Oxford pushed students into going to Spain via France -a loophole- even though Spain had basically closed its borders for non-citizens. It's absolutely ridiculous. I hope Jack sees this and maybe questions how great Oxford is, especially under the current situation.

😂😂😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ he just doesn't get it does he. Of course not all books have to be high literature...but stop acting like yours is something special by talking down to others and acting on your YouTube videos like you're so superior. Even it that video his tone is so patronising and entitled. Hes doing it himself, we arent doing anything 😂😂

He may also be doing ot to get views so I wont be watching anymore as he is getting more irrelevant as weeks go by. But unless he changes his attitude and direction he is suddenly going to find himself old news.
