Something VERY icky about someone with (as far as I know and please do correct me if I’m wrong) no Jewish heritage to be making money from advertising Holocaust Memorial Day. Nobody should be making money from it at all!

Jack is my boy, but I have noticed a lot of people don't care for him. He makes the games so much more fun/entertaining in my opinion. I've seen on YouTube comments and other social media that he gets a lot of heat. I feel like all Boston based commentators are unconventional, especially Tommy.

Thoughts?
Think youve got the wrong thread mate 🤣

Just like Jack to receive a qualification in sign language and yet not have subtitles in the same video. I honestly thought it was so hypocritical of him, and it seems as though he taught himself sign language purely because he thought it was a cool thing to do rather than out of genuine empathy for people with hearing loss.
Also, since he has very firmly established for the public record that he has absolutely NOTHING to fill his days with, surely he can take some time to work on subtitles?

One of these days, we'll have to come up with a new communication system for tone deaf people like him.

His company chose to use Hermes as the courier, so yes Jack, you do have involvement with them. Your side needs to ensuring that the products reach your customers, not washing your hands of them the moment they leave the printers.

Totally agree about the state school stigma being a thing of the past - I went to a state school, and it was in an area where the average house price is £400k. Just because you went to a state school Jack, does not mean you're from the 'hood' or representing impoverished students in any way. Not with an accent like that... State schools in areas of social deprivation are more the issue now.

Jack gave off total mean girl vibes in today's video! Throwing shade at Holly Gabrielle without further explanation, when earlier on in the same video he'd mentioned how down he felt the day another Youtuber released a video about him with some mild criticism? Makes no sense.

Both him and unjaded Jade still have massive complexes about their Oxford rejections... imagine that being the sole defining characteristic of your life 🙄

Regardless of whether it was a joke or not, it's embarrassing that he's still stuck in that "tehe didn't pay attention to my work call I'm SO cool" teenage mentality. You're an adult with a job now, Jack. It's not cute, you just look immature and ungrateful. Hope his boss sees it tho xx

He wants to go to Oxford to say “I graduated from the university of oxford”. I also don’t like that he’s constantly buying into the system, Oxford has a HUGE problem with institutional racism, Jack doesn’t need to go, he only tweeted not that long ago he was sad not every Durham student had the same experience as him? Well no shit you entitled middle class man. Ibz has made it clear that his research will clearly allign with a position That will benefit the university of Oxford, it could even lead to bigger funding and for him to go on and do a PHD in collaboration and clearly is highly articulate and passionate. You get 0 of that from Jack, he tries to be relatable and average but has no critical thoughts for himself, if he did, he’s accept the rejection and pick a university more suited to his style (I’m surprised he survived at Durham tbh)

His sexuality is really nothing to do with us. If he's gay then he can announce it (if he wants) when he's ready. Here's something more interesting!

His video on 'the books that predicted covid' - he thinks that it's YT's fault it didn't do well. He posted on twitter along the lines of 'did you see my latest video? no? no one else did either'. I saw it in my subscription box, pondered watching it and then watched something else. He's annoying me a little rn and I suspect I'm not the only one.

On 19th December, he tweeted "sending enormous amounts of love to everyone else stuck in london confused and alone right now -- we're in this together", except he went back to his parents' home so...

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is also not a good book recommendation for Holocaust Remembrance Day, as it was criticized by the literal Auschwitz Memorial Research Center (among others) for several historical inaccuracies. One google search will tell you that, it's even on the Wikipedia site for the book. You'd think a literature graduate would be a bit more sensitive to that.
one source: https://www.archive.is/oldest/https...tacked-as-inauthentic-by-camp-memorial-centre

And Instagram stories - really? He couldn't even be arsed to take an *~AeStHeTiC~* photo of a damn candle and make a regular post about it? But maybe the Holocaust Memorial Trust didn't pay him for that and he couldn't risk ruining his e-boy influencer feed with an authentic post!
Really does tell you everything you need to know about Jack.

oh fuck off with that. What is it with youtubers and throwing around mental health like crying once is the same as a legit mental illness. Also that heart was so passive aggressive. Yes a class act

Did he seriously lose his shit simply because he can’t cope with being called out?
You’re a fucking influencer love, social distancing, the pandemic isn’t a joke.
What is lame is that you cant deal with rejection, or anyone disagreeing with you. The partnership with unite students isn’t cool as you’re not a student and they’re shit, yet you won’t comment on that but will comment on tattle. Hmm ok. Those tweets have really changed my opinion of Jack tbh.

The booktube angle would also really open up a wider potential audience, as long as he doesn't continue with the studytube style and presentation style.

These StudyTubers do nothing to help cancel out the honestly harmful and dangerous perception that Oxford/Cambridge (and maybe Durham and Exeter) are the only UK universities worth going to.
This is spot on, thank you. I always found Eve Cornwell so refreshing in that aspect, because when she was asked whether she would have liked to study at Oxbridge she straight up said no. Or Ruby - when she talked about MA programmes she said she had looked into Cambridge, but it's not at the top of her list. And that's how you're supposed to choose your postgrad course. What reason for wanting to attend Oxford can Jack give in his application besides the fact that it's Oxford?

at least he actually has something constructive to say about the books he reads...unlike some other people *cough* Ruby.
i noticed that as well. ruby would usually describe the books as 'beautiful' or as 'well written', while jack did sort of a good analysis, using different synonyms, expressions, or even a sort of 'abstract' of the book in one sentence
but i think this happens because ruby tends to read or re-read children books and mostly fiction, while jack has shown a very diverse and wide taste in literature, meaning that he has more to say about the books he's been reading than ruby's, i guess?

Compared to Ibz's profile, Jack appears to be pretty unambitious. He hasn't really done anything related to his subject (apart from studying it), such as wider participation in English literature associations, writers guilds etc. All he did at university seems pretty trivial in Oxbridge terms: being on the committee of an English literature society would have been a good foundation, but no, he was a committee member for the Hummus society. :sneaky:

He's not a particularly 'exceptional' person (for want of a better word), he's just hoping that Oxford can make him exceptional.

I HATE it when Youtubers say their justification for ads is because it helps them make content and that they couldn't make videos without them...

Bitch please the ads are not supporting your channel, which costs so little to run (how much did the hummus cost? that's your biggest expense?), What you actually mean is "thanks for giving me so much money that I can rent in central London without a job"

He's moaning about London going into stricter measures so he's not able to go to the pub for his birthday. Look around you Jack, everyone is suffering, you are not a special case ffs.
My birthday was during the actual lockdown, Jack you're not the only one who had a shitty birthday this year.
