My uncle was in kidney failure and on dialysis for a lot longer than expected I think 13 year, you'reonly meant to be on it 5/6 year's. Sadly he passed in 2020 due to complications arising from his long-term dialysis use which started to form almost crystal like build ups in his legs which caused him immense pain eventually leading to sepsis. Had he been younger they may have considered amputation but they said that the length of time he'd been on dialysis the best option was palliative care as the crystals were spreading to other areas. Broke all hearts watching him suffer. He was a great man, kind and thoughtful and despite his issues never had a cross word in him. We miss him terribly.
