This! Of course this broke your heart! But you did what you needed to do. 99% of the people who are in her situation do not even have something valuable to sell! I would drop on my bear knees and thank god if I was in her postion knowing I had a watch or anything else (that I don’t even really need ) that was worth a minimum year salary!

this particular incident was at the end of 2019. Back then Ioan was lead actor in two series.

that aside this whole argument is stupid anyway. I can understand her not working when the kids were babies, but the funny thing is she was still working when they were babies lol - the moment the kids are in kindergarten all excuses are gone because you have half the day off and the other half can be covered if need be with helping hands (they had two nannies back then, friends exists, based on one of her reddit posts she rejected his mom to fly to the USA to help her too) or when Ioan was home (with very few exceptions Alice has mostly only done a few episodes gigs after she had a number of movies pre-kids that were proper flops mostly, so it's not like she would have ever been months gone like he was) - somehow every other actor pair managed too

It is definitely not reasonable to start a fight with the Casting Director because you have to wait in a room like anyone else. If Alice had any career left this was the death sentence to it.

100 percent true, especially in any city where there are a lot of productions going on. Vancouver, Toronto, Atlanta, even here in Chicago. Paps and autograph sellers, hanging out in Airports like cockroaches you can’t get rid of. Maybe even ten years ago I’d say they’d probably called someone, but now there are so many media sites looking for pics of anyone who’s remotely famous those vultures are camping out anywhere they might find some content.

Alice could easily do a podcast, maybe one that shows her journey on how to start again in mid life after divorce. She could interview different people, try out new fitness ideas etc, how to regroup, dating again, managing the kids and having a life (Gloria would be gone by then) She would have to stop herself from slamming IG and BW so it might be a big ask.

Instagram - she says she would find it difficult to advertise a product she doesn’t like. She’s an actress. Fake it. It’s not as if she is adverse to the odd fib.

She could do a vlog on her 'recovery' from the divorce too - getting in shape (and working with a personal trainer), learning to do makeup properly, learning how to cook delicious and nutritious food, advice from specialists on healthy sleep patterns and SM use, documenting her illnesses and search for work, beginners' classes in French and Italian and so on.
But she won't.

Maybe because they haven’t gotten as far as custody is the reason one hasn’t already been assigned to them. This hearing that Alice is using to scam money from hardworking people is only for the TRO, Alice is lying and telling the GoFundMe group the money is for a lawyer for the divorce. Is she going to try and do another GoFundMe for the divorce and custody hearings, I wouldn’t doubt it. She has no shame, self respect or dignity. The only reason I side eye Ioan is because he lived with her for almost 20 years knowing what a pathetic waste of humanity she is.

I was 15 years with my emotional abuser. And that was without kids. It's hard to leave when you start to believe them that you are nothing.

This is so frustrating I am going to need to take a break. I have a really horrible foreboding that the damage is done, he will never see his girls again and Alice will be ranting about him for the rest of her bitter and twisted life. I am also getting fed up with Ioan. I do not agree that there are not things he could have done to force the situation earier, given his knowledge of her alcohol (and possibly pill) abuse. If Alice is truly as bad as we all think she is, it is appalling that she is their only carer and has been for nearly two years. The only thing that could possibly help this situation is if Alice got a DUI and was forced into rehab and wearing an alcohol monitor. Sadly though, it seems she will get away with it all, leaving carnage and misery in her wake.

The thing is, with acting, you have representation looking for work for you, and hopefully, your own body of work makes you top of mind with casting agents, producers and show runners. A lot of actors take smaller parts because they want to work, they want to try character roles or parts they normally wouldn't be considered for, but they try to keep working. She's had mostly small (very small) roles, with the exception of Dalmations, The Christmas Card and The Vampire Diaries. That's out of some 42 or so roles as noted on IMDB. There was a story a while back in the threads about how she pitched a fit when she was kept waiting at an audition, her agent tried to talk sense into her and either she fired them or vice versa. Given what we've seen of Alice, I am betting she axed them. She doesn't like being told no, and no is something actors in particular have to get used to hearing. Plus the cruel reality is that it's tough for older actresses to get decent roles, older meaning anything over about 35. So she is behind that 8 ball as well.

If she had had a really robust career, even doing smaller parts but doing them well and being respected in the industry, the parts would have continued. It's worth stressing that her last role was in 2018 and she had small roles from the time Ella was born. She truly didn't give up a career in the sense of turning down roles and saying she didn't want to even be considered while her kids were young. She just wasn't and isn't getting the offers and now it seems she doesn't even have representation. Also interesting that she talks about needing to be away overnight. That would be for a bigger role in a more prestigious production than she would probably be considered for. Not being mean, just realistic. There are probably plenty of walk on or one or two line roles she could get right in LA but she would turn up her nose at those.

I was thinking that there are plenty of actors you see on television, both in the UK and US, whose faces are vaguely familiar but of whom you've never heard. They are the background players such as shop staff, cops, etc who have a couple of lines, but they are obviously reliable and professional because they keep getting those small parts.

However, Alice wouldn't accept those parts because she doesn’t see herself as a jobbing actor but a STAR. Same as she won't get herself a job, any job, between or instead of acting roles.
