Hi, I’m on the same rate in civil service. Do you have any tips for how to approach second jobs? The form is v open to how someone inputs the info, are there any traps to avoid? I don’t know what they are trying to check that I’m not doing

Yes! My take home is £1950 per month and I have 2 kids. I never have anything left! I keep applying for the 50k jobs as I'm London based but no luck so far. I have seen all of my friends overtake me and I'm very happy for them but also feeling a little left behind haha.Administrator & Office Manager (used to be two roles - but I don't seem to get 2 salaries!!) - £28,000 + very generous bonus (25%). My take home after tax/NI, student loan, pension etc is £1,800. Live alone so it doesn't stretch too far...
Does anyone else feel as though everyone else their age is earning way more?? I don't know how people are landing jobs in sectors that have £50k+ salaries. What's the secret!
I'm curious about the blogging as I've just started a website that I think has the potential to eventually be monetised. Are you happy to give a rough breakdown of how you are making money from it (affiliate vs advertising vs sponsored posts etc) and what your monthly visitors and views are?
I was in an Office Manager/Administrator/PA role in my early 20s and was on £18k! That was rubbish money for that job even thenI'm now over 40 and earning just shy of £50k and I work in project management/commercial insights/data analytics. I've always felt like I've been shafted when it comes to money, earning less than people I managed, earning less than people doing the same job, earning less than people with less experience. Never really felt able to fight for myself though. As for my friends, they earn a really wide salary range, everything from £20k to over £100k. I'd love to earn more but at the same time I want to go part time for my mental health and for my kids so can't win them all!

Even more annoying was I'd been promoted to the role after another lady left, ended up doing my job and hers. I was told there was no budget to increase my salary to what hers was (£25k) but they could get me a temp to help me out

Our form is simply 'Does any external income have a conflict of interest?'. Lots of people at my work earn from published books (and affiliates for those published books). Don't want to say more as it'll give away which CS department I'm in. But there's never been an issue.

I don't do sponsored posts. Almost all my income is from my ad network. There are 2 to pick from, Mediavine or Raptive. You need 50,000 pageviews per month to join Mediavine and 100,000 to join Raptive. I also earn a bit from affiliates, but nowhere near as much.

Is there anyone on here who freelances? I'm sure I've asked something similar before but I'm testing the water before taking the plunge, but don't know where to look for work (graphic designer !!) or share without my employer catching on I'm trying to leave lol
yeah is there any way to share posts on LinkedIn but to exclude people from certain companies to be able to see it? Seems like such an obvious design feature!
I'm a graphic designer and have done various freelance jobs but usually through ex colleagues. I don't want to take on regular freelance work though as I'll end up paying too much tax. Some of the ones I see pay up to 300 per day so it's really good money if you can make it work.
Oooh okay, any tips on finding full time work? Everywhere I have applied to have just ignored my application ever for junior roles!
Marketing Services Client Manager - £42k, I'm 40 years old. It's a good wage for what I do, I wouldn't want the extra cash for a Director role, it's already stressful enough at this level. Plus I've gone past the 'career' thing, now I'm happy to just have a 'job'.
The same old things really just make sure you have an up to date portfolio and highlight any experience even if it's just work you've done freelance or your own projects. It is so competitive, I'm going to try and get my foot in the door somehow but I just want to be doing something I love and get out of this bloody job
In outsourced HR / payroll and I earn £84,000. I got a £6k bonus this year. This is my last month of Student Loan repayments! I am SO happy.
