I just quit my 49k job as I’m severely unhappy, 3 month notice period but have the regretties cause everything out there is much lower eeeek

Yeah, the market is terrible out there and gone are the days when it's better to quit for your mental health. It's better to have a job and it give you bad mental health than having bad mental health and no job or money. Sorry, I know that's not helpful but can you keep your job and look for something else?
Hard disagree here, I get not everyone’s in the same boat but when we stop prioritising our mental health it’s a very dark time. I quit my 80k job as it was causing me to struggle even more and I’ve never been happier. I didn’t work for two years, to get myself straight as the job really done a number on me. I’m fortunate enough that financially I didn’t need to and now work part time as my husband works away and being alone each day was equally as bad for my head.
I don’t think I’ll ever go back into a corporate role but even if I was single I’d have quit the minute the job was making me suffer.

Thanks both, it’s a big adjustment especially with the way the job market is now. I had a long sit down with myself and straightened up, My dad died a few months ago, he left me the gift of our home together and a safety cushion. I cared for him through ill health and settled with the job I was in cause it worked for caring responsibilities but the world is my oyster now, I can get a little p/t role, low stress and still live within my happy little means. I know it’s a lucky position to be in, but staying in a job that destroys your soul, is not work 3k a month.

I’m very single, on £48k about to earn £68k but stuck in overcrowded houseshare. Student finance of undergrad and masters eats into what should be my flat deposit money.
We're very similar. But my work is sooo negative right now and thinking whether to call it quits and find something else. But it's so hard to find part time for the same money.
Last year I increased my hours from 20 to 30 a week as the opportunity presented and need the extra money.
This month I got a 47p per hour increase taking me to £14 p/h. I can’t see me earning more than this - I’ve been in admin for 20 years. I’m lucky that my job is extremely flexible at a good company with little stress. I do miss having time off in the week though to clean the house and do any life admin!

I don't think having a job that prioritises work life balance is a failure, I think it's the dream. I've never been happier than when I worked 4 days and I regret going back to 5 for more money.
I've got an interview (second stage) on friday for a job that is 65k.
Unfortunately, it's 3 days a week in London, but a substantial increase financially for me if i get it (on about 47k rn) and likely the only way I'll be able to earn that money in the next couple of years as I've been working way above my station in 2 jobs yet never promoted to senior title-wise, which is frustrating.

When I was on a contract 3 years ago and WFH and earning £100k pa, I decided to invest in home air conditioning.
It was summer and so hot...
Boy am I glad.

I'm half-heartedly looking for a new job after my manager recently quit, but it's hard going. Changing jobs is no small thing.
Same for me (although single and alone on my house
) I work nights technically part-time time hours. I get 33k a year, if I worked days I'd get the same, maybe slightly less, but would have to do 12 hours more a week. Plus if I changed jobs I'd probably have to travel further, my current job is 5mins drive so I'd pay more on petrol
How do you even come across jobs that are 4 days a week (and I don’t mean compressing 5 days into 4). Ive been job hunting for months and not seen any.
They’re hardly ever advertised like that. You get the job then request a 4 day week.
I had to request after coming back from maternity leave. I asked for 3, but they said no. Although my 4th day I only work as and when needed, so technically work 3 but get paid for 4, which is a win.
Recommend anything in particular, or anywhere to look?
Can I get a bit of insight? I've been offered a promotion with the salary increase negotiable between 8% - 12%, obviously I'll ask for the higher end 
Just not sure how. First time manager as part of the role, absorbing more responsibilities without necessarily losing my current ones, we are a small team so I can probably redistribute some of what I'm doing but it will still be more work. I'd like that recognised financially.
