Our April holiday with jet2 has been fully refunded. We don't know our annual leave for next year yet so we didn't want to move the dates... I'm not sure I'd want to go abroad again this year . I might take the kids camping or rent a cottage in Wales. My kids love it even if it rains .. I would love to sit on a beach somewhere hot instead but I'm just not feeling it atm.
We have our first ever family abroad booked for early September. It’s taken nearly 2 years to save for it and it may be selfish but I’ll be devastated if we can’t go! The same holiday next year is over 800 more! And we’re only talking the canaries! We’ll see, I range from being mildly optimistic to there’s no chance?

Hmm. I think it’s positive that it’s Spain and they were hit really badly. Sounds odd (and obviously I don’t mean it’s good that an awful pandemic impacted the country so badly ) but somewhere that’s managed to remain relatively unscathed through all this is far less likely to open borders and encourage tourists indiscriminately before a vaccine is found and as soon as September.
And yes the Spanish authorities will want to be careful too of course but it’s not the same sort of risk when it’s already there.
Another huge point is that lockdown will have damaged the economy beyond any way it’s been damaged before. It’s a country with a massive tourism industry which will desperately be trying to get back on its feet as soon as it can. Missing out on a whole summer season (holiday resort businesses get a massive proportion of income during summer don’t they ? ) as well as the entire spring would surely mean a write off for all but the most succesful business ... like only McDonald’s and the Hilton are gonna survive, who wants a world that bland ?
Anyway got a bit distracted but I’m saying I think Spanish authorities will be keen to make sure places like canary islands are able to host visitors and easy to travel to by the summer and thus by September too.... but that’s still not close to me saying it will happen. Just that I think you’ve got as good a chance as you possibly could in circumstances....
Just a question on here anyone doing a sun hoilday deal? Mine was suppost to be on 15th of may with a carvan site in skegness. Apparently we can still go even though nothing will be available to us ie entertainment shops etc. Because the carvan is two metres apart from each other. But some else I know also doing a sun hoilday different campsite in june has been told its cancelled and getting a full refund. I've told them we dont want to go in may and just lost £70 because they wont refund
TUI have now cancelled all holidays up to 11th June, but Virgin only 17th May....

We holiday 4-5 times a year but I don’t see us getting on a plane in 2020. Quarantines periods will make a holiday near impossible even when flights do start up again and prices for holidays within the U.K. will go through the roof as a result.

Also availability as well, once they allow holiday parks etc to open it’ll be hard to get anything I think. I’m going to change our holidays to next year, no way I’m getting on a plane this year even if we’re allowed x
We couldn't get away this year due to my holidays and my wife's not matching up. No bad thing considering the circumstances we all find ourselves in currently.
However just booked up half an hour ago for next summer.

I love Majorca. Fantastic place
Not so much in the hotels but the flights came in at less than half of what we'd normally pay. That was with Ryanair and booked through 'onthebeach'.
This will be our 8th visit to Santa Ponsa. We love the place.
We've tried other places such as tenerife, torremolinos etc etc but nowhere beats Santa Ponsa for us.
We’ve decided to cancel this year and next year and we’re going to holiday down south In the uk! I just wouldn’t want to put any of our elderly family (who we holiday with) in any danger or my children, planes are dirty as it is & they very rarely get cleaned either each to their own though the words got to keep moving! It’s the getting there that also bothers me too
I think that will change significantly going forward. By next summer your chances of catching this virus will be less than catching a common cold.
I’d rather take caution though to be honest, my grandad is in the high risk shielding category do not willing to take any chances plus it will do the uk the world of good if some of us holidayed here! Although I’m going to miss the sun majorly
Does anyone think there will be any point holidaying in the uk this year? According to the exit plan (if it’s correct) they won’t be letting bars and restaurants open until the end of August/September. I know we’ll have to wait and see what’s officially said but would there be any point if there’s nowhere to eat out etc? I really feel for the small businesses that will suffer, it’s awful. Obviously we’ve got to put health first
I think holidays this year aren't going to happen whether it's UK or elsewhere. This year will be a write off.
I don't think holidays will happen but flights will. Ie if you're travelling say to Germany or turkey to see family it will be fine, but resort holidays won't happen. We were due to pay a massive final balance on our summer holiday to Malaysia but the agents told us it's best not to pay and to ask for a credit note for the deposit. Apparently the credit note it's atol protected and we can use it against another holiday for next year. Still don't know if that's right but it made no sense to pay thousands for a holiday we know will definitely not be happening and it could until the end of the year to get the money back.
