I'm going to Thailand next year. We are going for 14 nights staying in Phuket. I'm planning on going to an island nearby for a few nights in the middle. Any close by that people recommend?
We've been to Koh PhiPhi before, I loved it there and would go back but not sure whether to try elsewhere, maybe Koh Lanta??

Love Koh Lanta it's one of my favourite islands in Thailand,would highly recommend a few nights stay!!

I haven't been yet but I thought the TreeHouse Villas on Koh Yao Noi looked incredible. Not sure what the islands are like overall though.

I’ve been tempted by Tenerife, Costa Adeje, but I’m a bit put off by the problems that tourism is causing the islands, and the protests going on.
Otherwise maybe Cyprus or Croatia.
Does anyone have any good recommendations? It’s just the two of us; the kids have flown the nest, and we’ve done the adventure type holidays, so we feel like we’ve earned the chance to laze on sun loungers somewhere lovely

Travelling abroad with children can be stressful. When you and your children have different surnames, this can raise more potential issues.

When my mum took my son on holiday we wrote a covering letter giving permission. We also said where they were going, the hotel address, our full names and our passport numbers as well. I’ve just come back from Costa Adeje and the locals are as welcoming and lovely as ever.
We spoke to our Teide by Night guide and he said that the issue is that only 46% of the land in Tenerife is suitable to be built on and currently 1m people live there permanently with 7m tourists per year on top of that. He said the main issue is that any housing built for locals is bought up by foreigners and rented out as airbnb accommodation which means locals are priced out of the market. He also spoke to us about the environmental impact of increased traffic, rubbish (their rubbish has to be shipped off the island as the landfill is full) and the fact the vast majority of their food is imported as the farms in Tenerife are small scale and don’t have the capacity to meet the demand caused by the big hotel chains offering AI.
Tourism is a huge percentage of their GDP and the locals don’t want tourism to stop - they just want a change in the tourism model so that it benefits the island and its residents.
Please don’t be put off by the media - they’ve made it sound like the Canary Islands are anti tourist when they’re not. Local people have genuine concerns about housing and the environment on the islands and want their government to act upon them.

I have just been to Spain for a very last minute trip. We have booked to go to Croatia in July and a big family holiday in August to Greece which will be fully inclusive. Cannot wait 
We've just booked a week in Lake Garda in July, absolute bargain as well! We went 11 years ago for 4 days and it wasn't long enough to go anywhere outside of the lake area so we're hoping to get to the Dolomites and Verona this time
Where are you staying?. I'm doing florence-garda-venice in June and just booked garda Airbnb last night!We've just booked a week in Lake Garda in July, absolute bargain as well!
