Bottom line she was ashamed of her family and didn't want them there. I have read that it was her that actually set her father up.

Her family didn’t fit in with the image she had created for herself, this was her chance to reinvent herself, so she found a way to cut ties. People were sympathetic re Samantha and co as they had been selling stories etc, but I don’t think anyone thought what her dad did was that bad - stupid, yes, but hardly worth cutting him off over. The letter situation was a mess and resulted in outing her in court as a liar re supplying Scobie with malicious info about her sister for Finding Freedom.

In short it all blew up in her face and continues to dog her.

Just the fact that she cut her whole family off, then Harry’s shows that she is a malignant, cut-throat person.

When I found out that the gruesomes were in Turkey at the same time I thought that blind date story was a whole load of 🦬.

I don't remember all the shenanigans about her father at the time. I had no interest really in the wedding, just thought in passing, aww that's nice when it was announced that they were getting married.
