Similar to Wallis. And similar to the queen mother, I reckon William can happily carry a lifelong grudge. He may tolerate Harry returning because it makes it easier to leash and muzzle him but they'll never be close. And as long as Meghan is in his life, Harry will be treated with deep suspicion.
My theory is that h&m have been separated for a while now, possibly locked into the netflix contract until it expires unless they return $$ to break contract.
These developments are very similar to Andrews easing back into public appearances if not public engagements. Barely a peep when he escorted his ma into Philips memorial, ditto the church walk at the same time it's announced Fergie had cancer.
So harry will stay at home, ostensibly to support Pa during treatment but ease into a couple of church outings to test the waters and maybe his own uk based charity functions. Then down the line when public sentiment is eased, it'll get leaked that they separated and intend to divorce amicably and plead privacy for the flat packs.
