A woman I know has just this moment "come out as non-binary" ... sigh. She says "gender is fake!" Yes, it is. Sex, however, is real and you are a woman. The fact that you're a marginalised woman (she is disabled and bisexual) doesn't change that, you can't choose not to be a woman
I know someone who fits this exact description. She also used to be in a cult.

I think this needs to be talked about. The TRA spiel seems to fit right into the BITE model from what I've seen. Just going to cover myself by saying that I've not studied TRA, this is just based on what I've been seeing in the media, but I've talked quite openly on here about my academic background in theology and I was raised in a cult (JW) and there are lots of parallels as far as I can see, especially when it comes to thought control through language use.

exactly, this is just a (much) worse version of trans women inserting themselves into IWD, imagine women did the same for trans/non binary day?

I really wonder what is going ot happen with this whole trans issue, at some point there has to be some kind of backlash that a tiny minority is dictating huge social issues/conversations, surely?
Interesting point about there being a backlash... I’ve had a number of people share a post by a trans or jon binary person - genuinely I cannot tell and I am 100% not being facetious here.
Anyway this post that was shared with me was ultimately about trans people being twice as at risk of violence - will try and attach below. Anyway, it’s pretty much gone down like a lead balloon with my friends because of everything that’s already been mentioned on this thread. I don’t really talk about this stuff with my friends and it seems there are people with a similar view. It’s exactly ‘All lives matter’ - yes they do matter, however the fact that in 2018 137 women are murdered globally everyday due to violence from men means that this house is on bleeping fire and it needs putting out before we check the batteries on your smoke alarm... simple. It’s disingenuous to suggest that ‘twice as likely’ equates to twice a many ... simply not the case. 50% of the population are women / female and when I checked circa 1% are trans. I am not saying violence against trans people doesn’t exist, but it’s simply not as big an issue and it’s shouldn’t take over the mainstream narrative at the expense of other issues that are much bigger in scale. I realise I sound pretty cold on this, but whilst people get their knickers in a twist about this, 600 women have died from breast cancer in the last 3 weeks. Pancreatic cancer survival rates are abysmal for example..

It was suggested on this thread that women can walk down the street wearing jeans and be left alone- total bull not to mention the strong 'she was asking for it' vibes
bleeping hell, I can’t go for a run wearing shorts in the summer without being catcalled or something. I know I’m not alone in this. Am I asking for it?

Sorry, my grammar is terrible in that post!

I get cult vibes from a lot of the shared posts that go around social media regarding gender identity. Especially regarding the choice of language and policing of virtue with threat of cancellation for stepping out of line. And the way detrans people are treated/minimised by the TRAs. Just sayin'.

Feminist Twitter is REALLY ducked off with The Guardian and Eddie Izzard (and his lifelong “boob envy”, mentioned in the interview) for spouting such ignorant, fetishistic crap in the first place.

And right above the Sarah Everard story. How you can put “I’m promoted to she” right above a story about a murdered woman is infuriating.

The replies to Sarah Ditum are 👌

I can’t believe how awful that front page is. In fact maybe I can believe it but I am absolutely appalled. What a disgrace.

Really disappointed that so many people I follow are sharing this today. It’s not ok for men to make it about themselves but it’s acceptable for the trans community to make it about them? bleeping double standards
I knew this would happen, of course nothing can not be turned back to 1% of the population rather than the 50%ish percent who are women, despite knowing it would happen I am still appalled

It's like black people saying BLM in the face of George Floyd and then people having a go at them - well what about muslim people? They get attacked too. What about gay people? They get targeted too. Yes they do, and it's important to have those discussions, but right now we're talking about how black people and the specific threats they face.

At least with Scientology it only was something rich celebrities with too much time on their hands bothered with.

And Eddie said that he reckons that there's not much difference between women and men as they get older so it gets easier. I have no words
