Despite how I come across on here, I’ve always been very tolerant of different people. I too thought “what’s the harm?” When it came to trans people, I’m generally a very live and let live person. There was a trans girl at my college and I was one of the few people who was actually nice to them (this was like, 15 years ago now). But if I see that my rights as a woman are being stepped on I’m not gonna be so nice anymore. I have daughters I need to protect from this madness and you don’t get anywhere by rolling over and being ‘nice’.

There’s a guy on my socials who I side eye a lot. Straight, white male who is constantly banging on about trans rights. I don’t know why but it just seems very weird how much he cares about it, like it’s his main ‘cause’ that he supports. I dunno, it feels like he hates women or something. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth how he supports allowing bio men into women’s spaces. Like, you’re a bloke, who the duck do you think you are telling women who should be allowed in our spaces? He’s never brought up the issue of sport though, funny that. Supporters always gloss over the sports issue. Not sure if I’m explaining it very well but hopefully you get what I mean.

Same arguments here that any talk that trans is a mental illness and surgery is wrong gets shut down.
Because as we all know it's about the money 💰
I always found it interesting how de-transitioning or regretting your transition was always a topic that got shut down by the trans community.
Both communities share very similar experiences, only one of them regrets it for x or y reasoning. There's some double standards to the fact that the trans community should be accepted and discussed with rights given to them but not the de-transitioning community. I assume it's because the latter is part of the reason for discussing having harder to access 'treatments' and gender-reassignment surgeries but even then I think that safeguarding aspect should really be put above someone who is going through a potential identity crisis and just found the next thing to jump onto?

The recent Keira Bell case comes to mind, she de-transed and wanted to highlight the inadequacies of support dysphoric people receive which currently leads them onto irreversible medical pathways. At the time, the press was full of witch hunting for “TERFs” for daring to say/agree with such sentiments, but on the whole seemed to gloss over the fact that the case was focussed on a trans person’s lived experience and desire to de-trans. I wonder what TRAs really think of de-trans people - do they pretend they don’t exist?

TRAs were not very supportive of Keira Bell for not being the right kind of trans. There's an Irish gender non conforming butch les (her words) and she openly admits she has gender dysphoria but has decided to make peace with her body or try to- she is also deemed transphobic by TRAs. And her wife is also deemed transphobic for not pushing her down the transition route. It's wild

Yes I kept seeing TRAs saying ‘the Court should’ve heard from trans people in Bell’ as if Keira is nothing? It’s really gross.

Most of them act like detrans people don’t exist (yet they lose their tit if people do that to them) or they make excuses for them by saying things like “well they probably weren’t even trans to begin with”.

I’ve just read this post on the detrans subreddit. This woman has been taking hormones for a decade and has been through surgery, they really gonna come out and say she “wasn’t really trans” to discount her experience? Detransition is real and it’s so important people know that it’s an option if they ever decide to transition, but have second thoughts later. As it stands there’s a very ‘all or nothing’ approach to transition and if you change your mind you’re ostracised and kicked to the kerb.

The whole argument that only a small minority of people de-transition also concerns me in a way? Though I'm not fully sure why, but I think a lot of it is the fact that there's a huge majority dismissing a minority group just so they can get some rights.

Plus I wonder how they keep the numbers? It doesn't seem to me like there's an awful lot people can do if they wish to de-transition so numbers wouldn't be as clear cut unless they go to their GP

yeah I would imagine anyone who transitions would be almost embarassed? most people are embarassed to even admit small mistakes in general. also you would probably lose all of your trans friends, which I imagine would have been very close for a long time

Give it another five years and the detransitioned numbers will be huge!

I wonder if it will end up (in the US which is very litigious) with people suing doctors who have done surgey/given meds for people at a really young age who then decide later to de-transition?

I think such doctors really open themselves up to this possibility - I wonder if they have indemnity cover for that sort of thing.

Even if they actually think she wasn’t really trans...she was treated by professionals as real ‘trans’, prescribed hormones, operationed on...

The argument that anyone could self ID to take advantage of women, in this scenario they wouldn’t be ‘reallt’ trans anyway. So what difference does it make? Does anyone know what I’m trying to say?
if you are treated as trans even if you aren’t truly, you can be harmed with hormones and surgery or harm other by self IDing.
That’s the whole argument

I think a good lawyer would be able to get around this as the whole case would be a new precedent, especially in the case of minors (not a lawyer - as is probably obvious lol- but this is what I would assume), and I would imagine lawyers would be falling over themselves for the publicity

I wonder if America is too deeply entrenched in it all now. There are probably loads of kids over the last decade that transitioned medically at very young ages, pre puberty. I have no knowledge of the American legal and medical system at all, but isn’t it different in each state? Not one big medical organisation like the NHS.

Greed will out. I've no doubt that lawyers in the US will eventually realise the goldmine this could bring
