I apologise if I missed these before, there is about 10 people replying to me at once so its a lot to respond to absolutely everything. Happy to answer my opinions on this of course. I would say that based on my own heart and head it would come down to that of a medical or psychiatric professional when it comes to all out legal recognition, though my opinions are there to be moulded and defined. I'm not going to be making any major legislation anywhere in my constituency never-mind the world but I do think one persons opinion can then reflect further on those around them, so I want to form ideas so that when these topics come up with my friends or elsewhere I can engage without just giving an off the cuff answer.

When it comes to social identifying none of us can really decide on when a person decides to define themselves by different pro-nouns we can just make our own choice on if we adhere to them in our social settings. But for me its in that way as easy as just honoring someones wish and I loose nothing by doing that other than potentially making someone feel more comfortable.

So effectively, as I have said previously, I don't see it as black and white. I think if someone can go through an assessment that isn't traumatic or pushing them in either direction and then be declared genuinely transgender by a professional I would see the legal line there.

I find it funny that you resort to these names like TRAliban. I think it doesn't do you the gender critical viewpoint any favours. But if you say I'm transphobic for those views then I'm happy to be called transphobic by you because thats the opinion I've gradually come to form, willing to be changed though as I learn more. I'm not the militant in any way. I do find it tough reading terms like that though because it seems like so many people on one side hate to be called 'terfs' but they respond with similar language like that.

I feel like I have to say that I know that that is not all of you, because there is so many of you here with varying ways of discussing this, its hard to reply to one reaction without everyone taking it as a comment on them. I know that is not all of you, or all gender critical people.

I've gone to leave and then been asked questions so come back to respond as not to be rude or in the last case someone asked me a genuine question about drag that I thought was asked with genuine curiosity and zero malice so I felt respected enough to come back and answer. Thank you again to that person btw!

I was asking another question about athletes out of genuine curiosity myself, but its being framed here now as just throwing out random questions. What exactly do you want to do in this thread? Just post constant streams of trans identifying people doing bad things so you can comment on them or actually have a discussion? I feel fortunate to have come into this group somehow because I've actually learned a lot from you all, but I'm being given enemy status as if I just want to burn all of our rights to the ground.
You do seem to like to play the victim and your answers above are pure word salad.

So you have no objection to these transwomen using females spaces.
Little girls can use the same toilets than them because they feel they are women.

I'd argue that adherence to preferred pronouns out of politeness (something I'd have agreed with previously) has led us down the path where male sex offenders are being referred to as "she" in court and in the press and their crimes being referred to as women's crimes, something I find abhorrent.

Imagine being the victim of a sex offence and knowing the court, and society, value the feelings of your male attacker over your actual reality.

That said, I refer to the trans woman at work (who decided to transition while trying for a baby with his wife, very female that, inseminating a woman) as she because I'd like to keep my job and my employer is totally captured by this nonsense.

I wasn’t saying that I personally think you are transphobic, but just pointing out that opinions like that are what gets US that description and that if you expressed them anywhere else that that’s what you’d be called too.
I used the term TRAliban as a joke, but it’s very interesting you took offence at it. I couldn’t give a flying duck about being called a TERF personally, it’s water off a ducks back now.

More comebacks than Frank Sinatra…

In other news, for years women in airlines were sexualised in their uniforms, told they could not have a hair out of place…but now it’s gone completely the other way. Image was everything. Bandwagon jumped on.
Lmao literally women have fought for years against bleeping sexist dress codes and are still oppressed by them today, yet all the men have to bleeping do is click their fingers and cry transphobia and immediately things are changed for them 🙃

So you think someone needs a psychiatric medical assessment of gender dysphoria to be genuinely trans?

That'd be called transphobic on lots of parts of the internet.

I definitely didn't say that though, literally the same as asking your mum for a pet dog and she pulls out a photo of a wolf saying 'Do you want this?'. Them in the pictures are very clearly as we would assume not genuine transgender people. But again I don't know where you have pulled those photos from, they can easily be taken from some fetish portion of the internet. The same could be done for gay men to straight men. Do you want these gay men in your male changing rooms followed by me brandishing some dark fetish of the gay porn world. Effectively that says to me that those images are what you see as trans people which from listening and reading to trans people in my opinion is very far from genuine trans people.

But definitely not as a good as him. This is definitely a reaction to Virgin allowing men their staff to wear either of the uniform choices. I find it baffling that you are angry that the world is progressing away from those stereotypes and allowing women to also not adhere to the strict rules of the past. This change is awful because what came before was bad? Even if you think its a bandwagon, is progression as a result of that not a good thing?

I wasn’t saying that I personally think you are transphobic, but just pointing out that opinions like that are what gets US that description and that if you expressed them anywhere else that that’s what you’d be called too.

I didn't take offence I just found it funny in the context of people hating being called terfs, but I'm glad you don't let those words come at you, words at the end of the day only hold power we give them. I'd very happily voice those opinions to trans people, and have them call me transphobic if they wish. We can't all have the same opinions. Most transgender people I have watched on YouTube or read about online don't seem to be in that way of thinking so I've obviously been lucky to avoid the worst of the worst that you get subjected to.

I'd argue that adherence to preferred pronouns out of politeness (something I'd have agreed with previously) has led us down the path where male sex offenders are being referred to as "she" in court and in the press and their crimes being referred to as women's crimes, something I find abhorrent.

I agree with your topline, definitely. I actually think those cases hurt genuine trans people more than anything. When you see men with beards on newspapers with 'she' listed but its clearly less gender dysphoria and more perversion in those cases.

Wow! Thats a story, did the wife stay with them after they transitioned?

So you think someone needs a psychiatric medical assessment of gender dysphoria to be genuinely trans?

That'd be called transphobic on lots of parts of the internet.

We've 35 threads worth of a discussion. Read them.
Then I'm happy to be called a transphobe because my opinions even if not fully formed yet are what I feel. I've read 5 pages of discussion if you're going to shut someone out because they haven't read every single thing in over 1575 pages because they don't agree with you on certain things then you're going to live in a very small bubble.

Not only has this male won a women's beauty pageant, but he's also been given a scholarship which is traditionally awarded to "young women" between the ages of 17-24.
Yet another opportunity stolen from a woman, by a privileged male in a bleeping dress.
Don't tell me that we all need to "be kind". No-one is being kind to us, they're literally taking our jobs, our educational opportunities, our sporting achievements, and they're laughing at us while they're doing it. If you can't see why feminists have a problem with this, you're either wilfully blind, or just dumb.

And these men say they are trans. To you, anyone who pretends to be a woman is one. I only posted a couple of pics but there are thousands of them. Reddit is full of men using women’s toilets to masturbate, stealing women’s tampons etc.

The fact that you compare them to gay men is terrible.

I already post you this and I don’t think you have watched it.
These men use women’s toilets.

Hi SueDoyou, thanks for your reply as to why you are interested in drag. I have another question if you don't mind - can you clearly and simply explain what you mean by a 'genuine trans' person?
I can see other posters have asked you this, but I can't see you have replied.

It’s not about reasonable trans people on the Internet though, in the grand scheme of things individual people don’t have a lot of influence. It’s the fact that opinions like that, that women have a right to compete in sports or that sex offenders shouldn’t be housed in womens prisons, are opinions that organisations like Stonewall and many public bodies consider to be hideously bigoted. Women, and a few men too, have lost their jobs, been arrested, been hounded off social media, been banned from giving talks in public spaces for expressing exactly those views.
Stonewall and other organisations would also disagree that men like those hideous specimens posted earlier should be kept out of womens spaces - their guidelines stipulate that anyone who says they are trans are indeed trans irrespective of whether they just look like a right dodgy p to the rest of us. So you can see, surely, that letting any men into our spaces is problematic? Because we aren’t allowed to weed out the ones we don’t like the look of, we aren’t allowed to follow safeguarding procedures, once they’ve uttered the magic phrase ‘I’m a woman’ we have to let them all in. We don’t get to decide who is ‘really trans’. They get to decide and we are forced to go along with it.

@SueDoyou

I made you a list of our views and concerns. I hope this helps you understand the general views we have.
these spaces tend to be very active for two reasons: 1) many of us are progressive and cannot say these things in progressive spaces without risking our employment and/or friendships 2) when you get “peaked” you become horrified by how far gender ideology has gone and what it has allowed in.

Because it’s so controversial, people from many walks of life come here or to spaces like it, which means that you’re going to get conflicting opinions. There are radical feminist opponents to gender ideology (🙋‍♀️), conservative opponents and people who fall somewhere in between.

I think issue 1) means many people that comment on this online have an account devoted to just this, but to an outsider, it looks like all we care and think about is this and are thus irrational. I promise you that many of us are perfectly rational

Here are many of the prevailing views on this issue from a radical feminist POV:

Sex = biological sex. It is immutable in humans
  1. Your sex defines you as a man or a woman
  2. Gender = social etiquettes taught to each human sex, varying slightly across the world but generally anything that could be defined as socially masculine or feminine
  3. Transsexual = someone who experiences long-term gender dysphoria and accordingly medically and surgically transitions to present as the opposite sex, but whose biological sex does not change. This is a rare mental illness.
  4. Some of us think it is OK for transsexuals to transition, following support for other mental issues is explored first and after a long safeguarding process, once they are adults as children are not in a position of mental development to make a permanent decision like this. Those of us who believe there are “genuine transsexuals” recognise not transitioning before adulthood makes transitioning harder for them, but that does not come above child safeguarding. Some think transitioning is not OK regardless of circumstance and there are no genuine transsexuals
  5. Transgender = someone who may not necessarily experience dysphoria but identifies as the opposite gender. May or may not transition beyond wearing gendered clothes. Is trans on the basis of gender rather than sex. We are critical of this because gender is a social construct
  6. Nonbinary falls into the same group as transgender
  7. Women are oppressed on the basis of their sex in a way men are not (e.g. higher levels of grape, FGM) and our comparative physical weakness is used against us by men, who are physically more powerful than us and have oppressed us for hundreds if not thousands of years
  8. The male sex is more violent than the female sex, sexually and otherwise, and towards women than vice versa. These statistics are reflected in how a higher proportion of transsexual women are incarcerated for sexual and violent crimes than biological women
  9. Through trying to insist that there is no difference between a transgender woman and a “cis” or biological woman, and refusing to distinguish on the basis of sex rather than gender, the gender ideology movement is effectively writing over this history, and is obscuring valuable data we need to measure and work against violence against and oppression of women. It also incorrectly insinuates trans women and not trans men experience sex-based oppression in the same way biological women do, which isn’t really true because they are not female.
  10. This obstructs feminist movements in achieving parity between the sexes. for example workplaces collecting data on women’s access to male-dominated fields will gather skewed data if they do not distinguish via sex but gender instead - eg, trans women are socialised as men growing up and this receive encouragement to go into STEM that biological women do not. If a company does not distinguish between biological women and trans women in its data collection, and many trans women work in STEM roles, it may end up believing it has improved access for biological women when it hasn’t. There are other more nefarious examples of this problem
  11. Men are generally physically stronger than women, which means that if sports are not separated by sex, women will win infrequently. It also is not safe for women and men to compete in many sports owing to how much stronger men are than women - especially the strongest man vs the weakest woman in a contest
  12. Self-ID is a portion of gender ideology that dictates that any person can declare that they are trans at any point, and be recorded and treated accordingly
  13. “Gender”-based spaces are problematic where they occur with self-ID, as it means that men can just declare they are trans women and not be required to prove it in any way as to ask them this would be questioning their gender identity which is transphobic. It would become significantly difficult to prove that a man is in a women’s space with bad intentions if there is no legal reason why he (“she”) should not be in that space
  14. Puberty blockers are not reversible and are frequently followed by hormone treatments like estrogen/testosterone supplements. We are concerned by their prescription to children and young people as CYP are exposed endlessly to the notion that these treatments *are* reversible. They are not accessing these treatments with a proper understanding of their effects, and the silencing of our concerns exacerbates this. Many pro-trans orgs take the view the treatments are reversible and are too quick to recommend children go on them, eg Mermaids and the late Tavistock gender clinic
  15. We take issue with the notion that sexual orientation is gender- rather than sex-based, as many lesbians, gay men, and straight people are certain their SO is sex-based and biologically, this makes sense. it is wrong to suggest they are bigoted for their sexual orientation, especially given the history of les and gay men being forced to have sex with the opposite sex and discriminated against for having sex with the same sex
  16. We object to the notion that these views, often called “gender critical”, are unacceptable, as it means silencing the concerns we raise
  17. We are concerned by orgs like Stonewall pushing gender ideology - it expects compliance from all organisations it partners with and risks the jobs of people with gender critical views. In higher education, government, healthcare and policy, it enables the problems we identify to continue

This is by no means exhaustive. I hope you can see that many of us are not crazy transphobes. We are just normal people like you :)

THIS! Thank you, just read it all, alot I am already aware of course, as naive as many of you think I am. I'll offshoot and dive into more myself off this. Thank you for that. And I fully agree sex is immutable.

And thats why its good to engage with people like myself rather than farting into the wind no?

I already post you this and I don’t think you have watched it.
These men use women’s toilets.

I watched it, i find a lot of those off site productions are never the best place to start when trying to form opinions. Without context of whether half those clips are born off fetish sites or elsewhere you can't really observe something like that. Even in the first few minutes they use a tik tok trend thats by women, used by women and is just a trans person reading along to the lines and its supposed to say that trans people think that we are stupid but its literally a trend created by us and lip sync'd by us. One odd trans person and its offensive and being mischaracterised as being a trans trend or created by that person.

When I refered to gay people earlier I meant in the arguement. There is horrific things on porn websites I'm sure, so anyone could easily pull that upa and say is it safe for gay men to be in bathrooms with straight men because here is a video of a gay man spying on a straight man in a toilet on a porn site etc.

  15. We take issue with the notion that sexual orientation is gender- rather than sex-based, as many lesbians, gay men, and straight people are certain their preference is sex-based and biologically, this makes sense. it is wrong to suggest they are bigoted for their sexual orientation, especially given the history of les and gay men being forced to have sex with the opposite sex and discriminated against for having sex with the same sex

Oh fully clever af 😂

THIS! Thank you, just read it all, alot I am already aware of course, as naive as many of you think I am. I'll offshoot and dive into more myself off this. Thank you for that. And I fully agree sex is immutable.

And thats why its good to engage with people like myself rather than farting into the wind no?

But these men do exist IRL. This is not p’rn from some weird websites. These men use our spaces. I am glad you have never stumbled upon them in public toilets. I have. Several times.
These men compete in women’s competition. These men compete in beauty pageants, they take part in women’s summit etc.

@SueDoyou
